Chief Editor Message

Resilience is crucial in an ever-changing world. By nurturing our youth's resilience, we equip them with the tools to navigate uncertainties and overcome challenges. Collaboration with communities and likeminded organizations is key, providing support and mentorship. As leaders of tomorrow we must show empathy, keep in our priviledges and aspire for higher purposes whilst fostering an environment for all to grow along.

In a world of constant change and challenges, we must embrace the resilience of our youth. As chief editor of JCI Mauritius, I am inspired by our young leaders who embody the core values of JCI. Together, let's explore the power of these values and their role in building a resilient generation.

Active Citizenship, Leadership Development, and Impactful Innovation form the bedrock of JCI values. Through active engagement in communities, our youth take ownership of their surroundings and forge a path of purpose. Leadership development empowers them to confront obstacles with confidence, emerging stronger in the face of adversity. And with impactful innovation, they embrace change, finding resilience through creativity and adaptability.

Navigating a complex world, empowering the community, encouraging their resilience and growth and focusing on one's peace of mind are powerful assets to shape a brighter future for Mauritius and beyond.

I dearly wish you a pleasant read and hope the stories of JCI Quatre Bornes will inspire you as much as we were.

Regards,

Passerelle Event with MMA

Dear Readers,

We are thrilled to share an exciting collaboration between JCI Quatre Bornes and the world of Mixed Martial Arts (MMA). Last week, we had the privilege of organizing a demonstration event in partnership with MMA practitioners and the women at the Passerelle Women Shelter.

The objective of this collaboration was to empower and inspire the women at the shelter through the transformative power of MMA. The event aimed to introduce them to the sport, promote physical fitness, and provide them with practical self-defense techniques to boost their confidence and personal safety.

Under the guidance of experienced MMA trainers, the women at Passerelle Women Shelter participated in a series of workshops and demonstrations. They learned basic striking and self-defense techniques, emphasizing empowerment and practicality. The sessions were designed to instill a sense of strength, resilience, and assertiveness among the participants.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to the MMA trainers who generously shared their expertise and time, as well as to the staff and volunteers at Passerelle Women Shelter for their cooperation and support.

A special thanks to the Project Director Sudharshinee for her commitment in making this event a success.

We look forward to further collaborations and initiatives that promote empowerment, personal growth, and community engagement. Together, we can create a brighter and more inclusive future for all.

Twining with an International JCI chapter

In today’s interconnected world, fostering international collaboration and cooperation is essential for personal growth, community development, and global progress. Twinning projects between Junior Chamber International (JCI) local chapters provide a unique opportunity to create lasting relationships and make a positive impact across borders. With the advent of digital platforms and online communication tools, JCI Quatre-Bornes and JCI Laberges du lac chapters are still in discussion to embark on twinning online trainings where we can transcend physical limitations and enhancing cultural exchange.

The discussion is initiated by our 2023 Local Secretary himself, Muhammad Joolfoo together with the 2023 Local President Maryem Tahri of JCI Laberges du lac, Tunisia. More updates about this twinning project will be announced later.
