Dear Inspiring everyday changemakers of JCI Malaysia It is a great honor for me to extend my warmest wishes to you all this great New Year full of happiness and success.

In November 2019, I took up the presidency of our great organization after the successful General Assembly of the 2019 JCI World Congress in Tallinn, Estonia. Together with my team, we have reviewed the performance and achievements of JCI, and moving forward, we have also set objectives for the year 2020 and committed ourselves to implement them.

As stated in the 2020 Plan of Action, this is the year to accelerate transformation, and we would achieve this as a team by bridging the gap between vision and reality and I am 100% convinced that with your hard work and compassion, 2020 would indeed be a year of unspeakable transformation.

My dear colleagues, facing our challenges with strength, determination and confidence is what will propel the transformation we are looking forward to achieving this year 2020.

You can always count on my sincere support to be with you on this journey and I shall do my utmost efforts to achieve our goal of bridging the gap.

Finally, you will agree with me that unity is strength and that when there is teamwork and collaboration, extraordinary things can be achieved. It is therefore my wish that we work well together toward our common vision to be the leading global network of young active citizens.

Dear JCI Members and Friends, First and foremost, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate the organising committees and members for having such a successful Inauguration and Award Banquet.

Every year, this is the best moment of the time where all our hard work in a year are being recognised at the wonderful stage.

Unity is the key to a successful organisation. For the Plan of Action 2020, we must work together to bridge the gap between members regardless of the culture, background and geographical differences.

In year 2020, we focus on four categories which is Sustain, Lead, Inspire and Motivate.

The S.L.I.M. movement implementation is to ensure every local organisation can grow healthily and sustainably. We believe that only healthy and growing local organisations can lead towards a healthy and growing national organisation.

Dear Members of JCI Century, Warmest greetings to all of you on your occasion of JCI Century Charter Luncheon cum 2nd Installation and Awards Ceremony. 2021 will be a brand-new start to us and all over the globe, yet I believe that we shall overcome the obstacles together and making 2021 shine bright in the new norm.

In this delightful event, I would like to congratulate the newly elected President Crystal Kong to lead JCI Century in year 2021. With your presidential theme “Tiny but shiny, We are Fireflies”, I believe that you will lead your members to strike better in this era of new norm.

JCI Century will be able to create a different angle of impact in 2021 within your local community. I wish you all the best to achieve another milestone and I am looking forward to work together with you in 2021.

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to 2020 President David and his board of directors who had done a fabulous job in 2020 despite facing the pandemic. You have shown the extraordinary leadership in combating the pandemic and hopefully you may continue to support the incoming Board of Directors by providing your precious experiences and guidance to ensure JCI Century continues to flourish.

The focus in 2021 is Enabling Leaders. JCI Malaysia believes that enabling JCI members with leadership skills is the way to drive our organization forward and beyond in 2021. To achieve the goals, the main FOUR focus on DOTS will connect each of us together and rowing into the same direction.

D-Development, JCI Malaysia believes that leadership development program will nurtures new talents and enhances the current talents to maximize the potential of JCI in different levels to create global impact.

O-Opportunities, with competent leaders at local levels, JCI Malaysia will provide collaboration platform to ensure Local Organizations able to explore different stakeholders and partners through various entrepreneurship programs.

T-Transform, with the core pillars of JCI, JCI Malaysia will transform members through enrichment programs and evaluate the performance systematically to ensure S-Sustainability of your local organization and JCI Malaysia.

JCI Malaysia strongly believes the success of 2021 shall be the synergy of each and every JCI Malaysia members. Let us come together in a sublime beginning, and connecting the DOTS to act on what we are passionate about, motivating members to act and inspire each other to be better.

Message to Area Central South Local Organizations Warmest greetings to JCI Century, we have come to this very important season when all Local organizations are busy preparing their Installation ceremony. I wish a successful one for you.

Well done to Charter President David Lim Qi Chong on your dedication to lead your fellows Board of Directors and members throughout this incredibly special year. Being a leader, we are responsible for the growth of the organization, especially during crisis. After your term as a president, I hope you will continue to assist your incoming president and chapter with your knowledge and experiences.

Of course, I would love to send my genuine congratulations to Crystal Kong Jia Yee for the successful election. Your members have casted their votes on you because they entrusted the future of the LO to you. Upon succession of this essential role, you are acting and representing your local organization throughout the year. I look forward to seeing you giving your best to grow yourself and also the members, as well as empowering your community and see the values of your local organization.

In 2021, JCI Malaysia National’s theme is – Connecting the D.O.T.S (Development, Opportunity, Transformation, Sustainability), initiated by our National President JCI Senator Chew Hooi Mei, with the aim to nurture leadership skills, connect with stakeholders, standardize JCIM management system, and systematic evaluation for LO. And we would love to see these goals being achieved together. Unity is the strongest foundation for a successful team. As your national executive vice president, I would do my absolute best to align JCI Malaysia values to your organization to see our nation working together for the same goals.

This year, JCI members might be so looking forward to having physical projects such as area academy, conventions, gatherings after MCO for months. I also hope that all these projects can be done physically this year if the situation allowed. Area Central South Committee Team will definitely prioritize our members’ safety first, and at the same time work hand-in-hand to see if these projects can be conducted physically with SOP compliance.

100% Efficiency is a basic guide for Local Organization to learn how JCI management works. We joined JCI because we want to see improvements in ourselves, in our career, in our family. Thus, “to improve is to start practising”. In 2021, I urge all JCI Local Organization unite as a team to help one another in practising and achieving 100% Efficiency, not only for the awards, but to assure the growth and development opportunities your LO offers to your members.

Leadership is a skill that can never be learned by saying, and that is why in JCI we are always taking action!

It does not matter whether we won the champion tittle or not, but it DOES matter that we strive to be one!

Greetings from JCI Malaysia!

2020 have been a year full of surprises. If it were up to plan, my message today would’ve been to commemorate the chartering of JCI Century and to wish them a successful year; now, we are at the end of the year celebrating not just the celebration of chartering a new chapter, but a marvelous achievement for 2020 and to pass on the leadership baton to the 2021 team as well.

Firstly,congratulations to JCI Century for your Charter Luncheon. Finally all the members are able to celebrate and commemorate this occasion, although it is a bit late, but I am sure it will still be a memorable moment for all of us. Well done to the Organizing Chairman Zhen Fu and his team for their persistency and teamwork in showcasing the best JCI Century has to offer.

I’ve had the privilege to witness the birth and growth of JCI Century, in their bid to affiliate, a team led by the Protem Chairman David Lim actively participated in all the events and made promotional materials seeking for the support of the General Assembly and long last, their effort did not go to waste and they were the only Local Organization affiliated in 2019.

Fast forward to now, I would like to take this opportunity to convey my appreciation to the Charter President David Lim for your co-operation this year; through your dedication, leadership and much grinding, JCI Century have accomplished remarkable results such as the 100% Efficiency, Five Star Rating and the Active Local Organization Award. JCI Century have set such a high benchmark for many to follow and I am tremendously proud of the great work the team at JCI Century has done. Congratulations to all of them!

My congratulations to the In-coming President Crystal Kong and your Board of Directors for your installation as the 2021 JCI Century office bearers. The road ahead is still full of uncertainties and challenges, but with the right mindset and a sense of unity I am confident that you will all be able to overcome these challenges.

JCI SENATOR wilson ooi First and foremost, I would like to congratulate JCI Century for successfully affiliated to JCI Malaysia during our 2019 National Convention.

Charter President David Lim Qi Chong and his team have been showing their great efforts and passion in overcome the challenges to charter JCI Century. I am honored to be the founder of JCI Century and I have the opportunity to witness and take part the process of establishment.

JCI has a very clear value, mission and vision, and it inspires me to be an active citizen that care about our community. JCI gather young people and give them opportunity to take up challenges that they might never think they can complete it. We development ourselves through JCI journey and train to be a leader that not only speak up our ideas but to turn our ideas into action that bring positive impact to the local community.

Despite the pandemic has limited the physical activity in year 2020, Charter President David Lim Qi Chong has lead his team continue to organize activity virtually to benefit the young members and entrepreneur.

DAVID LIM QI CHONG Warmest Greetings from JCI Century!

It is my pleasure to be the Charter President of JCI Century in year 2020. My JCI journey started since December 2015 in JCI Iskandar, for the past 5 years, JCI provided me endless opportunities to serve the community, to develop new knowledge and skills, to gain experiences in organizing projects and work together with members from different background, to explore and enrich my perspective by attending national and international events, my journey in JCI is fruitful and memorable yet laden with tears and joy. In year 2018, I reached another milestone on my journey, I was awarded as 2018 World Most Outstanding New Member in JCI World Congress, which has inspired and motivated me to take a greater challenge. Since then, I was ambitious to found a new JCI local organization in my community.

I would like to take this opportunity to extend my sincere appreciation to the Founder of JCI Century Wilson Ooi and Charter Advisor YC Tam for their guidance and advices throughout the process of founding JCI Century. I still remember how we started from just 3 founding members, we had countless of brainstorming sessions and discussion to decide our direction and set our long-term goals, we keep sharing our ideas to each prospective member we met, recruiting the protem members one by one till we finally been affiliated in the General Assembly of 2019 JCI Malaysia National Convention. Thanks to 2019 JCI Malaysia Board of Directors, Past National Presidents, all my friends and buddies from all around Malaysia who supported me along the affiliation journey.

Most importantly, sincerely thanks to my 25 founding members for entrusting me and my ambition of creating a new platform for Creative Entrepreneurs Network To Unleash Region’s Youths.

My President Theme in 2020 is CENTURY, which literally stands for C – Create a new platform to expand JCI Impact. E – Empower members to create Positive Change. N – Navigate JCI Century to align with JCI Value and Mission. T - Transform members to be Young Active Citizens. U - Unite members as One Team and enhance Bonding. R - Recognize members Contributions and Dedications. Y – You Only Lead Once – Motivate members to Treasure every Opportunities to be the project Leader. With the Core Values of CENTURY, my founding members and myself aim to make JCI Century a true platform to develop leaders and young active entrepreneurs for our country and for a changing world.

In our very first year, JCI Century is very blessed to successfully establish valuable relationships with stakeholders from different sectors of our community that sharing the common value with JCI Century. With that, I would like to express my heartiest gratitude to our valuable sponsors especially our Corporate Patron – 4U Malaysia Sdn Bhd for sponsoring us. Time flies, two years of being the Protem Chairman and Charter President of JCI Century have just passed in the blink of an eye. As the Pioneering Leader of JCI Century, I always think of setting a benchmark for my descendants, I believe that every decision we made and every standard we set, it is all for the sake of our beloved local organization, I aimed to leave a legacy to my successor and all the future leaders of JCI Century.

Year 2020 is a challenging year for all leaders, it is also an opportunity to test our leadership in crisis management and problem-solving skills. My quote in 2020 is “When the plan does not work, we change the plan but never the goal.” In March 2020, we were shocked by the sudden announcement from the government for the implement of Movement Control Order which all of us had never experienced before. After realizing that our initial Plan of Action and flagship projects could not be carried out, we quickly shifted most of our events from offline to online. Moreover, we also organized series of awareness campaign and community projects to cope with the challenges caused by COVID19 Pandemic. From 2019 to 2020, JCI Century successfully held a total of 88 Events, including 6 Major Projects, 4 International Events, 15 Trainings, 12 BOD Meetings, and 20 membership events. Such as Century Business Dialogue Series, International Forum Series, Be Better During MCO Campaign Video, Vege For Love, Bye-Bye Virus Speaking Contest, Stay Strong, Malaysia etc.

I am incredibly grateful that we conquered the challenges brought by the Pandemic, proudly make JCI Century shine on stage in 2020 JCIM Virtual Area Central South Convention and JCIM Virtual National Convention. As a one-year-old local organization, we won 7 awards in total, including 3 Area Awards (Ranked as Top 4 Most Active Local Organization, Impressive Local Organization Growth Award, and Mandarin Public Speaking Contest 2nd Runner Up), and 4 National Awards (100% Efficiency Award, Impressive Local Organization Growth Award, 5 Star Local Organization, and Most Active Local Organization). Although awards might not be the only standard to define the success of an organization, with the achievements we accomplished in this challenging year 2020, I am very sure that JCI Century is on the right track of being a sustainable organization that create positive impact to our community.

Congratulation and much appreciate to my successor Crystal Kong for taking the challenge to be elected as 2nd President of JCI Century. I strongly believe that under her leadership, JCI Century will continue where we started, achieve all the goals we set in the beginning. Although in year 2021 we might still be confronting the challenges caused by COVID19 Pandemic, I have faith in 2021 Board of Directors that the team will continue to make JCI Century stay relevant to our community, and make our members stay active to JCI Movement during this tough time.

By taking this opportunity, I will serve JCI Century with all my abilities and resources that can create positive impact to the chapter and members.

My complements go to the Organizing Chairman Tang Zhen Fu and all the committee, who selflessly spent days and nights, just to create a wonderful event for all the guests. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic lock down, we were forced to cancel our Charter Ceremony cum 2nd Installation Awards and Banquet but they are still willing to continue taking part in it to do the rest of the task. Words cannot express my feelings, nor my thanks for all your efforts.

In the past two years, JCI Century had experienced hardships and inheritance from seniors and the support from the community in order to promote and emphasize our organization. JCI Century not only provides an opportunity for current members to organize events in order to promote entrepreneurship in Southern Johor, but also attracts lots of Non-member to establish their networking and self-enrichment by participating our events.

I really appreciate the contribution of all the Board of Directors and members of JCI Century for these glorious years of JCI Century.

It is my honour to organize this Charter Luncheon cum Second Installation & Awards Ceremony with all of my organizing committees. This is a great opportunity to invite all the JCI Malaysia National Board of Directors, Others JCI Local Organization and also our beloved members and sponsor for gathering to reminisce the good old days and discuss about the future of Junior Chamber International.

In these 12 months of preparation, we encountered a lot of problems and obstacles. My sincere appreciation goes to the guidance and advices from our Founder JCI Senator Wilson Ooi, Charter Advisor YC Tam, and Charter President David Lim that helped us to overcome the problems.

Besides, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to the Charter President of JCI Century when I was one of the Board of Directors, for the spirit and passion he had towards JCI Century. I was truly inspired by him and that was the reason I decided to take on the responsibility to become the Director of Charter Luncheon cum Second Installation & Awards Ceremony. I hope I could pass down the same spirit and passion to all of my committees and thereafter they will pass it down to their juniors in the future and continues the spirit of JCI Century.

Within the journey of organizing Charter Luncheon cum Second Installation & Awards Ceremony, we are facing COVID-19 pandemic in early of March while our Charter Night is proposed on end of March 2020. Due to the Movement Control Order (MCO) and also the health & safety issue to our participants, committees decide to postpone the event until 26 December 2020.

Junior Chamber International (JCI) is a global membership-based non-profit organization of young active citizens ages 18 to 40 who are dedicated to creating positive change in their communities. ABOUT jci MalAYSIA Junior Chamber International Malaysia (JCI Malaysia) is a National Organization of the Junior Chamber International local organizations in Malaysia. JCI Malaysia was chartered in year 1976 and is affiliated to Junior Chamber International (JCI), a global leadership development organization for young active citizens aged 18 to 40, founded since 1915 in St Louis, US by Henry Giessenbier. ABOUT jci CENtury Junior Chamber International Century (JCI Century) is a Local Organization of the Junior Chamber International (JCI) based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. JCI Century aimed to be the leading entrepreneurship learning platform to cultivate more young entrepreneurs in the Johor Bahru community.

In 2019, JCI member David Lim Qi Chong and a number of his friends foreseen the needs of encouraging entrepreneurship among the young Johorean and fostering more local business in order to adapt to the rapid growing and development of Johor Bahru.

They decided to set up a JCI local organization to feed the needs.

David Lim then sought the advice from 2019 National Vice President Wilson Ooi, he is also the Past President of JCI Iskandar. The Board of Directors of JCI Iskandar agreed to sponsor the establishment of a new local organization. Wilson Ooi became the Founder of this new organization, David Lim was assigned as the Protem Chairman and 2018 JCI Iskandar President YC Tam was appointed as the Charter Advisor to advise and assist in the establishment of this new organization.

JCI Century Protem Committee under the leadership of JCI member David Lim was formed in the first quarter of 2019. A series of projects and events in business and membership recruitment was organized including corporate visits, business sharing, e-business workshop, & business networking etc.

The first Annual General Meeting was held on 25th September 2019, National Vice President JCI Senator Jess Wong as the election chairman, together with Founder Wilson Ooi as the election committee conducted the first election. Protem Chairman JCI member David Lim was elected as the Charter President, JCI Century 1st Board of Directors were successfully born including Tang Zhen Fu, Ronald Term, Heng Wang Qianyou and Ivan Pang.

On the 10th of October 2019, Founder Wilson Ooi, Protem Chairman David Lim, together with 10 founding members attended the National Convention in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah.

During the General Assembly, JCI Century was successfully affiliated to JCI Malaysia under the witness of the National Board of Directors and 73 Local Organizations.

JCI’s work with the UN SDG Action Campaign (formerly the UN Millennium Campaign) began in 2004, when JCI committed to advancing the UN Millennium Development Goals (UN MDGs).

In 2015, JCI officially committed to the advancement of the Sustainable Development Goals, a new set of 17 time-bound goals aimed at ending poverty, protecting the planet and ensuring prosperity and equality for all.

JCI and the UN SDG Action Campaign work to motivate and empower young people to take targeted action and create sustainable results for the SDGs through campaigns related to the Global Day of Action and Global Festivalof Action for Sustainable Development.
