Jewish Holidays and Athletics JCHS schedules games, practices, and other team events to ensure that athletic commitments will not conflict with Shabbat, or any other Jewish holidays that prohibit such activities to the best of our abilities. Although practice schedules are set at the discretion of head coaches, practices will not be held on Fridays (with the exception of limited Friday practices in early Fall and late Spring), Saturdays, or Jewish holidays during which athletic activities are prohibited. If student athletes have any concerns with regard to their ability to balance athletic commitments with their religious observance, or if students must miss games or practices for religious reasons, those students should talk to their head coach at the beginning of the season to avoid any potential conflicts.
Families: Teaming with Your Child’s Coach Athlete, Parent, Coach Communication: Open communication is the foundation of the relationship between coaches, athletes and parents.
