In this condo unit transformation project, the client’s goal was to create a simple yet functional living space that maximized every square foot available. Key elements addressed included space analysis, strategic furniture selection based on the client’s hobbies and preferences, emphasis on minimalism, and the integration of wall-mounted shelves and floor-to-ceiling storage units to optimize vertical space utilization. The result was a well-designed, clutter-free environment that perfectly catered to the client’s needs and lifestyle.

In lieu of utilizing Sketchup’s Photomatch, I created a 3D model of the client’s property to showcase the proposed structure from multiple angles. This allowed me to visually present how the completed patio would look on-site, meeting one of the permit conditions required by the community. The 3D model provided the client with a clear and comprehensive understanding of the project, enhancing communication and ensuring a well-informed decision-making process.

After a lot of revisions and meeting with the client, the old empty building is now repurposed as a Brewworks and Art Gallery, to which he also emphasized to retain some of the elements such as the mural signage at the side.

Throughout the project, I actively participated in the process, alongside my co-supervisor, Alexus Carugda, under Architect Guevarra’s trust for project management. From overseeing foundation excavation to electrical layout, wall finishes, and roof trusses, our dedicated involvement shaped the successful realization of the bungalow residence in Villa Josefina, Toril, Davao City. With the construction commenced last October 2022 until it ended recently on May 2023, the collaboration between the design team, construction crew, and our supervision ensured precise execution, combining aesthetics with practical functionality, creating a comfortable and delightful tropical living experience for the occupants.

The low-cost housing development presents a cutting-edge solu tion, incorporating self-sustaining vertical gardening systems within the residential infrastructure. This innovative concept fosters a healthier en vironment and addresses food security concerns by enabling residents to grow their own fresh produce sustainably. Additionally, the inclusion of a farmer’s market creates an opportunity for settlers to generate in come by selling their surplus crops, while a community center provides a space for group activities, social support, and public information dis semination.
