LAURIE & NEAL PRICE

Irving B. Harris Leadership Award

Laurie and Neal Price have made significant contributions to promoting the well-being of people in our community.

Laurie served as a JCFS board member for 12 years. She is the founder and owner of CDI Construction Group and oversaw several JCFS construction projects, including the Abe & Ida Cooper Center in West Rogers Park and the Seigle Campus in Skokie. Neal has been an active leader in the Jewish community for over 30 years, serving on the boards of JUF, JCC Chicago and Congregation B’nai Tikvah. He is co-founder of Strategic Wealth Partners. The Prices live in Deerfield and have two sons and a daughter-in-law.

CHERYL LEON

What’s Possible Award

Cheryl Leon is a prominent leader, philanthropist and changemaker. Cheryl has devoted her life to service, serving as the coordinator of Ezra Helpline, the basis for JCFS’s intake services. She then helped create a landmark program addressing the needs of sexually abused children in the Jewish community. This became Partnership for Safer Communities, a JCFS initiative to raise awareness about abuse prevention through education and training. Cheryl and her husband Bruce recently launched The Leon Legacy Fund to provide an avenue for all Jews to explore their rich heritage. They live in West Rogers Park near three of their four daughters and six grandsons.

We are grateful that you are here with us at Elevate, our newly named signature event. Our honorees this year, Laurie and Neal Price and Cheryl Leon, exemplify what it means to elevate our community. Through their active leadership roles at JCFS Chicago and Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago (JUF), respectively, Laurie and Neal have been committed to promoting the well-being of people in the community for decades. Cheryl’s passion as a JCFS professional led to an initiative to raise awareness about abuse prevention through education and training, and now as a philanthropist she opens opportunities for Jews to explore their heritage. They are extraordinary members of our community!

From staff to volunteers to our Board of Directors and donors, you each engage with JCFS in meaningful ways to help create a thriving community and sense of belonging for people of all ages and abilities. Our ongoing partnership with JUF and the commitment of our supporters are what allow JCFS to continue to elevate the lives of more than 22,000 children, teens, adults and families each year.

We appreciate each of you and your ongoing support of the critical work of JCFS.

As we brainstormed ideas to rename JCFS Chicago’s signature fundraising event, we knew we needed a word that got to the heart of what JCFS does and Elevate rose to the top of the list. For over 160 years, JCFS has worked to elevate our neighbors as they strive to live successfully in their community. From professionals and volunteers to community partners and donors, we appreciate everyone who shares their passion for and commitment to JCFS.

Tonight, JCFS is proud to honor three exceptional and welldeserving individuals.

Congratulations to Laurie and Neal Price, the recipients of the 2024 Irving B. Harris Leadership Award. Their decades-long leadership has made a positive impact on so many in their personal and professional circles throughout Chicago.

Mazel Tov to Cheryl Leon as we honor her with the 2024 What’s Possible Award. From her many years as a professional at JCB (Jewish Children’s Bureau) to now as a philanthropist, Cheryl’s commitment to a life of service has had many chapters.

Many people have come together to ensure a successful evening — the stellar JCFS professionals, a deeply engaged planning committee and the JCFS Board of Directors. We are so proud to co-chair this year’s event.

Thank you for joining us tonight. Your support is critical to powering the mission of JCFS Chicago.

With warmth and appreciation,

June 20, 2024

Greetings,

As Governor of the State of Illinois, I am pleased to welcome everyone gathered for Elevate, the annual fundraiser hosted by JCFS Chicago. This occasion offers an exciting opportunity for everyone in attendance to join fellow members of your association and generate ideas that implement solutions. I commend the work you have done to help make Illinois a stronger and more enjoyable state.

I want to personally congratulate Laurie and Neal Price on earning the Irving B. Harris Leadership Award and Cheryl Leon on earning the What’s Possible Award. These are impressive milestones. It takes hard work, dedication, drive, and, above all, a commitment to bettering your community. The work you have accomplished to reach this point is admirable and has undoubtedly improved the lives of others. You and your family should be immensely proud.

On behalf of the people of Illinois, I offer my best wishes for an enjoyable and memorable occasion.

To our dear friend Marshall,

The work JCFS Chicago does for the community positively impacts so many lives in so many ways— we are very impressed as we follow this organization from afar.

We were admittedly bummed when you and Gayla decided to relocate to Chicago. We knew we would miss you both dearly, which we do, but we also knew that you both would thrive and find ways to get involved and give back to Chicago in the same ways you did in Kansas City. And wow were we right! We congratulate you on being this year’s event co-chair and wish you much success. For those of us that aren’t able to attend the event, we wish we could be there. And for those of us attending, so happy we can be here to support you.

Sending congratulatory hugs, The Kansas City Gang
