From Our President and Chief Executive Officer We are honored to welcome you to our 12th annual Tuned In! Tonight we celebrate the work of our dedicated staff and volunteers of Response for Teens and the impact their work has on the kids in our community, ensuring our ability to continue provides into the future.

I know that I speak for all of those volunteers and staff, committed to the work of Response, in expressing my gratitude for your generous support. Our partnership supports thousands of teens impacted annually by Response programs while honoring the incredible legacy of our friend Larry Dobkin. Larry’s spirit and dedication to helping our kids grow into healthy and responsible adults lives on through our work.

It is especially exciting that this year we are honoring Andy Poticha. Dedicated to our community’s youth and the work of Response, Andy has long been an amazing energy for this event and all of Response’s work. While he now serves on the Board of Directors for both JCFS Chicago and Illinois Holocaust Museum, he maintains his passion for developing the youth of today into our leaders of tomorrow.

Special thanks and appreciation go out to Eve Samson and Nanci Dobkin for their leadership as co-chairs of the 2019 Tuned In. The work of Eve, Nanci and everyone on the Tuned In committee is focused on raising both awareness and the essential financial support for Response.

It is our honor to carry forward Larry’s legacy of support for the work of Response for Teens. Thanks for joining us today, and for your support throughout the year.

Today’s youth face a fast-paced culture, an ever-changing social media landscape, and changing notions of identity and where young people fit. Response for Teens provides support and guidance, counseling, education, and leadership development to help them navigate their path. Your generosity helps Response for Teens do our work: Support adolescents and young adults and their families, empowering them to make healthy choices in all areas of their lives.

We know you’ll enjoy the Second City Teen House Ensemble.

They’ll be tackling adolescent issues as only Second City can!

This year, we are proud to announce the inaugural Extraordinary Adolescent Award. This award represents our commitment to elevating young adults and recognizing the many talents that adolescents possess and share.

Response for Teens is part of the JCFS family of services that provides caring, expert, and responsive services to strengthen lives in our community.

Thank you to our many friends at the Jewish United Fund/Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Chicago for their ongoing support of our youth and families.

Finally, thank you to the members of our Response Advisory Council (RAC) who are the driving force behind this event and the fundraising necessary for Response for Teens to continue our important work. Thank you for all of your efforts to make this event such a great success.

Letter from the Chairpersons On behalf of the Response Advisory Council (RAC), we want to welcome all of you to our 12th annual Tuned In Chicago: The Larry Dobkin Event. We are so appreciative of your support, which enables Response for Teens to provide compassionate, adolescentcentered programs and services for thousands of area youths.

We are excited to showcase for the first time, The Second City Teen House Ensemble. This Ensemble is the highest performance group for teens at The Second City and we are delighted their improv show is a part of this year’s event.

Our Tuned In honoree is Andy Poticha, whose commitment to our teens is second to none. Andy was first introduced to the RAC by his longtime friend, Larry Dobkin and he later co-chaired Tuned In with Larry. It is so fitting that we honor Andy at this event for his continued leadership and dedication to our community.

We also are excited to honor for the very first time an Extraordinary Adolescent. This year, we are honoring Jordyn Eisenberg. Just wait until you hear about all of her extraordinary accomplishments!

Tuned In is the direct result of a hard-working committee. Thank you to the RAC members and JCFS staff who worked for months to make sure that every detail of Tuned In was just right, including the ad book, food, raffle, set-up/clean–up, talent, marketing and fundraising. Thank you for being such an amazing group.

It is so wonderful to see all our neighbors, families and friends continue to support Tuned In year after year. On behalf of the RAC and the entire Response for Teens community, thank you for attending and enjoy the show!

We are pleased to recognize ANDY POTICHA as this year’s Tuned In honoree for his leadership and commitment to our community’s teens.

Andy is a past Response Advisory Council member and a past Tuned In co-chair. He remains very active in the Jewish community, currently serving as vice chair of the JCFS Board of Directors and as a board member of the Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center.

JORDYN EISENBERG, winner of the Extraordinary Adolescent Award, is a junior at Deerfield High School. She is an exceptional student and a talented artist. She is passionate about making the world a better place through her leadership and community service. A member of the DHS Student Council, she has been involved in the studentled charity drives. She has worked with less privileged communities, including a medical mission in Thailand and an upcoming trip to Ghana with Doctors without Borders.

Teens were nominated for remarkable achievement in academics, athletics, visual or performing arts, leadership, community involvement, and/or overcoming obstacles.
