Meet Lawrence Rauch, New Foundation Chair
L
awrence (Larry) Rauch, the newly elected chair of The Foundation’s Board of Trustees, is a cold storage executive with a warm heart and a deep passion for philanthropy. He is a seasoned leader in the Jewish community as well as in the business world, and is quick to recognize and acknowledge the accomplishments of others. His involvement with The Foundation dates back not just years, but decades, to 1982. Over the past 31 years, Larry has served as an Advisory Board member, trustee, chair of the Grants Committee and most recently, as treasurer and Finance Committee chair. He previously served as president of Jewish Family Service and has held multiple leadership positions with the Jewish Federation. In the business world, Larry is currently serving as the chair of the Central City East Association and the World Food Logistics Organization. Larry succeeds Lorin M. Fife, who recently completed consecutive two-year terms as chair of The Foundation. “Lorin, and Cathy Siegel Weiss before him, are among a long list of Foundation chairs who have been successful in the community and have done great things for The Foundation,” Larry said. “It is an honor to follow in their footsteps.” Marvin I. Schotland, Foundation president and chief executive officer, said, “Larry possesses strong institutional knowledge of The Foundation, as well as excellent leadership skills, and great dedication to The Foundation’s mission and goals. What Do You Really Care About? In this issue of Legacy, you’ll meet some of the most accomplished philanthropic leaders in our community, Larry Rauch and Dorothy and Ozzie Goren. Larry is now adding to a distinguished career of community service by assuming The Foundation’s chairmanship, while the Gorens are culminating a lifetime of philanthropy by establishing 13 new charitable funds—one for each of their three children and ten grandchildren. What Larry and the Gorens have in common is a deep and abiding commitment to our Jewish community, a profound sense of caring for others, and a strong tradition of leadership by example.
