SPLASH ACADEMY! Splash Academy is an all-encompassing, learn-to-swim program for all ages, designed to create confident, strong and lifelong swimmers, starting at six months.

Instructors are trained to offer compassion-based instruction, positive reinforcement and encouragement each step of the way. The program provides more opportunity for skill/level progression, regular feedback and accomplishment awards for swimmers as they progress through the “fishy” levels.

There are three broad areas of J Splash Academy: 1. Introduction to Water & Water Safety Skills 2. Basic Swimming Skills 3. Competitive Swimming Techniques As children progress, they swim their way through the fun development levels (see next page). Splash Academy is designed to provide more opportunities for skill and level progression, regular feedback and accomplishment awards as swimmers progress.

“You Call It” SPLASH CLASS! 3 yrs & older Create your own learn-to-swim group! You choose the day and time and we will arrange the class specifically for your group! Children of a similar age and swimming ability preferred. Required minimum is four participants; classes will maintain a 1:4 Instructor ratio.

Classes cancelled due to weather or pool issues will be rescheduled.

Splash Babies 6 mos-3 yrs Classes introduce safety for parents as they welcome their child to the water. Infants discover how to put their face in the water, blow bubbles and remain relaxed in a pool. Parents are required to be in the pool with his/her child.

J Sharks Swim Club 5-18 yrs Join the club! Kids will work to improve their time, strokes and endurance as they become part of this great team!

Swimmers from both buildings compete in a fun meet and challenge for bragging rights. Participants must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle and backstroke.

Kids’ Swim Boot Camp 4-14 yrs Kids will swim, run, jump, climb, throw, and giggle in this great youth workout! This fun, yet challenging workout gets your child moving non-stop, and is intended for those who can swim the length of the pool unaided all the way up to swim team participants. Enrollment requires evaluation by Aquatics staff.

NOW AVAILABLE AT THE FOX BUILDING Aquaglide Birthday Pool Party 5-14 yrs

Hey! Celebrate your child’s birthday at the J! We want them to slip, slide, splash and laugh to the best time ever! Gather their friends together and they’ll conquer the J’s own Aquaglide. Get ready to beat the best inflated obstacle course on water! They can challenge their friends to a race to the finish – or just see who can stay on the longest.

Party goers must be able to swim in the deep end, so be ready. Parties include time in a party room and the pool. Must be scheduled at least two weeks in advance. Only available at our Chesterfield location.

Aquaglide Inflatable First Sunday Fun All ages

Make the Fox Building pool your destination on the first Sunday for the next six several months. We’ll have our Aquaglide inflatable obstacle course set up for you to slip, slide and splash your way to the end. Fight those winter months with some pool time fun and hilarity and see if you can tackle the Aquaglide!

ADULT AQUATIC PROGRAMS Group Swim Lessons for Adults 18 yrs and older

Have you wanted to learn to swim, but just felt you missed the bus, or that you’re too old to learn a new trick? Don’t be silly! The J is offering just the class to help you learn! We are offering an Adult group swim lesson. We want everyone to come as they are, no requirements or restrictions on this class. This is a shame free zone for all adults, all levels, any experience to come and learn. Come jump in with us!

Aquatic Personal Training 16 yrs and older

Be all you can be with a personalized 60-minute aquatic fitness training session. Training in the water alleviates stress to various joints while allowing for resistance, flexibility and strengthening. Group option available.

American Red Cross Lifeguard Certification 15 yrs and older Learn the duties and responsibilities of lifeguards to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies and to carry them out in a professional manner. Certifies participant as an American Red Cross Lifeguard.

Completion includes certifications in CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid and Automated External Defibrillation (AED).

Prerequisites: • Must swim 300 yards continuously using in the following order (100 yards each stroke): front crawl, breaststroke and either front crawl or breaststroke or a combination.

• All 300 yards must use rhythmic breathing with your face in the water and a stabilizing, propellant kick.

• Swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a minimum depth of seven feet, retrieve a 10 lb. object, return to surface, and swim back to starting point with the object within one minute and 40 seconds.

• Upon returning to the starting point, must hold the 10 lb. object with both hands with your face above water.

Notes:

• Must attend all classes in a given session for certification.

• No refunds on cancellations made less than seven (7) days prior to the start of class.

• Participants who do not pass the prerequisite will receive a refund minus a fee of $25.
