Allied Jewish Apartments Sunday, May 1 (Every First Sunday) From Inner Smiles to Profound Joy A fun class that will easily counteract apathy, negative moods and low spirits. There's a simple technique called the “Inner Smile,” in which we are encouraged on-the-spot to smile inside, despite the circumstances in which we find ourselves. This creates a glow we can actually feel, and that is the key to actively taking charge of feeling better. It strengthens our love for ourselves, and can lighten our moods and our joy gets stronger. The result can be more balance and a steady stream of pleasurable moods to combat worries, stress, tension and irritability. The instructor is Francine Juhasz, who holds a Ph.D. in psychology from Case Western Reserve University, and is an energy management coach, wellness writer (two published books), psychotherapist and accomplished artist. Monday, May 2 Mondays at the Movies An uplifting message of humanity, An Article of Hope tells the remarkable story of Israel’s first astronaut and the journey of a tiny Torah scroll into outer space. Israeli Air Force Colonel Ilan Ramon and six other astronauts perished on February 1, 2003, when the Space Shuttle Columbia disintegrated upon reentry. The film parallels the fateful journey of this singular artifact and its profound symbolism with the life story of Colonel Ramon and his close bonds with fellow astronauts, featuring poignant interviews and inspiring accounts of the Columbia mission. Temple Emanuel Tuesday, May 3 Music at Emanuel: Osi Sladek, International Folk Singer and Accordionist Osi is a master performer and recording artist. His best known composition Shir Hatsanchanim, became the official hymn of the Israeli Paratroopers. He has been featured on PBS with one of his songs performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir.
