Shoresh, Anaf and Aliyah With morning songs, cheers, weekly themes, dress-up days, special events, and a Shabbat program every Friday, this traditional camp experience builds on our popular Sabra and HaBonim programs with a new twist. Giving children the opportunity to meet challenges and expand friendships, every camper will participate in activities designed to develop social skills. Within our programs, groups are designed to meet both each camper’s needs as an individual and the needs of the program. Placement is based on age, grade, elective choices and other factors to create well-balanced groups. While friendship requests are accepted, they are requests only and not guaranteed. Requests must be reciprocal and emailed to JCAmp@jcajax.org two weeks prior to your campers session to be considered in the placement process. JCAmp runs from 9 am – 3:30 pm. Aquatics The JCA is an authorized provider for the American Red Cross. All skills taught follow the Red Cross Learn-to-Swim Program guidelines. JCAmp lesson plans are a modified version of our Learn to Swim curriculum, focusing on water safety and lifesaving skills, not stroke development.

Swim Assessment and Information Lifeguard ratios are approved and standardized by the American Red Cross. JCA and The Center pools meet or exceed the state requirements for aquatic facilities. Pool water chemistry is tested at least every three hours throughout the day, exceeding health department requirements. Pool use is contingent on weather and health and safety standards. We will never compromise our standards to keep the pool open. All campers will be required to participate in a swimming skills assessment at each location they attend JCAmp this summer. Due to facility differences, we do not transfer swim assessments between sites. Campers will be assigned a yellow or red swim neckband to wear in the pool throughout camp based on the strength of their swimming ability. These bands will assist our American Red Cross certified lifeguards in keeping our less experienced swimmers safe. The JCA will supply YELLOW (swimmers who pass the test) and RED (swimmers identified at risk) neckbands to each child. Children with red neckbands will be required to wear a Coast Guard approved life jacket. Please do not send neck bands from home.

Swim Instruction

K'Ton (Ages 3 by Sep 1, 2025), Tovim (Ages 4 by Sep 1, 2025), Kindercamp (Rising Kindergarten and Age 5 by Sep 1, 2025) and Shoresh (Rising Grades 1-2) JCA swim instructors are certified and trained Water Safety Instructors (W.S.I.) and Instructor Aides Swim groups are formed according to swim ability. Our Learn to Swim group lesson program, which utilizes a level-by-level curriculum focused on in-depth stroke development, is available in the afternoons on-site at the JCA.

Policies/Procedures: Fees and Deposits Applicants must be in good financial standing with the JCA to register for JCAmp. All applications must be completed online or submitted to the Program Registrar’s Office. A nonrefundable, nontransferable $100 deposit per session, regardless of session length, is due at the time of registration. Balances for all camp programs, regardless of session, must be made via auto draft, bank account or credit card, and paid in full by May 2, 2025. The JCA will not guarantee placement if balances are outstanding after that date. Full Summer/Full Payment Discount JCAmp families who register by February 14 for a minimum of eight weeks with full payment at the time of registration will receive a 5% discount. Payments must be made by cash or check only. There are no discounts for Pattycakes, K’Ton, Tovim or Kindercamp. This discount does not apply to those receiving financial assistance. Refunds While we know plans can change, JCAmp deposits are non-refundable. Refunds of JCAmp program fees will be granted only if the JCA is notified in writing of withdrawal prior to May 2. Notification of withdrawal on or after May 2 will result in the loss of all fees paid. All changes to registration, including schedules or sessions, must be made in writing and will result in a $15 charge per change payable at the time the change is made. Financial Assistance Through the generosity of our donors, need-based adjusted fees are available. Full deposits are still required upon registration. Financial Assistance forms, with required documentation including a 2024 tax return, must be received by March 14 to be considered for allocation by April 1. Late applications for tuition assistance are accepted for review provided there are remaining funds. If you wish to receive a Financial Assistance packet, please indicate that on the registration form. If financial aid is insufficient or unavailable, deposits are refunded. For more information, contact Aileen Casado at aileen.casado@jcajax.org.

Registration JCAmp programs are open to all children regardless of race, religion, ethnicity or gender. Within our programs, groups are designed to meet each camper’s needs as an individual and the needs of the program. Placement is based on age, grade, and other factors to create well-balanced groups. While friendship requests are accepted, they are requests only and not guaranteed. Requests must be reciprocal and emailed to JCAmp@jcajax.org two weeks prior to your campers session to be considered in the placement process. Friendship requests are not available in Pattycakes, K’Ton, Tovim or Kindercamp. The JCA reserves the right to change campers’ group placement if placement does not serve the best interests of the individual or group. JCA Membership is not required. However, JCA members and children currently enrolled in Michele Block Gan Yeladim Preschool & Kindergarten, or for the 2025-26 school year, have priority registration through February 28. Everyone is encouraged to register with deposits early to secure a space when general registration opens. In the event space is not available, all monies are refunded. Registration for all JCAmp programs is required at least three business days prior to the start date. For additional information, please contact programregistrar@jcajax.org.
