This year the Brothers of Xi Phi Lambda hosted their inaugural Awards and Initiation Breakfast. It was a time for the chapter to come together and recognize the new initiates along with bestow awards upon the brothers who had achieved much success during the global pandemic.

GOLD WALK/RUN






The Gold Walk/Run was a new initiative that recognized brothers for getting physically active. Brothers in the chapter were challenged to “go the distance” and get active all while competing against each other to see who could log the most time and distance. The Gold Walk/Run was the brainchild of Brother Damien Seabrook. Participation in the initiative was extended to brothers across SCAlpha.

The Brothers of Xi Phi Lambda - Powered by MJ on Purpose presents "Welcome to The Gold Room," A Night at the Casino. The 2023 Black Ice Scholarship Gala Fundraiser includes: Open Bar, Three Entree Buffet, Live Music & Entertainment. Proceeds to benefit Scholarships and Educational Programming.

Formally called the A. Charles Haston Brother’s Keeper program, this service program developed with the mission of advocating and improving the quality of life for Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.’s senior brothers, their spouses and widows; brothers who are retired and have disabilities or ailments; and vulnerable community members. The brothers of Xi Phi Lambda continue to share in this program by assisting the widows of our charter members by cleaning their yards along with servicing our brother who are elderly or have health challenges.




“A Voteless People is a Hopeless People” (aka VPHP) was initiated as a National Program of Alpha during the 1930’s when many African Americans had the right to vote but were prevented from voting because of poll taxes, threats of reprisal, and lack of education about the voting process. Voter education and registration have remained a dominant focus of this outreach activity for over 65 years. In the 1990’s, the focus shifted to include political awareness and empowerment, delivered most frequently through town meetings and candidate forums.




The “Go-to-High-School, Go-to-College” program, established in 1922, concentrates on the importance of completing secondary and collegiate education as a road to advancement. This year’s program partnered with the Legacy Flight Academy where brothers helped to share with high school students the importance of choosing a career that will catapult their future.





This collaborative project is designed to provide education, motivation and skill-building on issues of responsibility, relationships, teen pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases for young males ages 12-15 years. Designed to provide young men with current and accurate information about teen pregnancy prevention, Project Alpha consists of a series of workshops and informational sessions conducted by Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity brothers. This year program was a partnership with the Distinguished Gentlemen program that seeks to teach young men how to be greater members of their community. Brothers of Xi Phi Lambda taught various workshops and provided mentorship to over 50 young men.



The emPOWERing KINGS, a multisession education curriculum and mentoring program designed to prioritize the sexual and reproductive health education of Black high school and college-aged young men. Brothers in Xi Phi Lambda have volunteered as mentors and trainers in this program. This program also fulfills the chapter’s ProjectAlpha requirements.
