Sardia McIndoe has captured the Governor-General’s Achievement Award for her impeccable high standards and excellence. She has demonstrated dynamic involvement in the social and spiritual aspects of various educational and religious institutions. She has served in various capacities in the Inter-School Christian Fellowship (ISCF) at the Wolmer's Trust High School for Girls. As an active volunteer, Sardia has devoted many hours to children’s homes and most recently, to the Kingston and St. Andrew Family Court Probation Office. “I was nominated by someone who had been encouraging me to submit my documents for a while. That's really what prompted me,” Sardia said. “I was really surprised and excited to hear that I was one of the nominees; but I was also a bit nervous. I was told that the selection process was very close and they would need to conduct an interview to choose between me and another potential candidate. When I was actually selected, that's when I really went through the full range of emotions. It was surreal. All I could really do was give God thanks.” Through a series of difficulties, Sardia explained that her biggest challenge
Sardia receives the GGAA plaque from Sir Patrick Allen was finding a sphere within which she would be able to combine Christian ministry and governmental service in order to effectively impact children. She continues to patiently and prayerfully wait for God to direct her path. “Not only would I work in a field related to children, but I would also enjoy having the freedom to minister with my Godgiven passion.” Sardia remains committed to extending her reach to youth nationwide. She now serves as the Tertiary Team Leader for the Passion and Purity Movement at both the University of the West Indies, Mona and University of Technology, Jamaica (UTech). With a strong conviction to her responsibilities, Sardia is indeed making her mark as someone who has impacted the island’s youth – not only with words, but through her lifestyle. renew
