A Webley Family Christmas
It is that time of year again when we feel the warmth of the Christmas time. The celebration of Christ’s birth. The real reason for the season. it is that time when we pause our busy schedules give to give to others as God did and is still doing for us. The major theme for this IMPACT is reaching out adapted from the JBUYD Theme: Reach, Renew, Rejoice. Let us endeavour to reach others in this season, whether it be a gift to someone, a positive word to someone or just a shoulder to lean on. Have a very merry Christmas and a happy new year when it comes. Yours faithfully, Marcel Clarke

And As Always...
Photo taken by “Joel” Tucker
The plant pictured is called 'Flame of the Woods'. We are often told that without adversity there is no growth. In order to overcome adversity, we must face it. As stated in James 1:2-4, we must consider it pure joy, whenever we face trials of many kinds, because we know that the testing of our faith produces perseverance. Sometimes we feel we are facing circumstances by ourselves but we are still on this same walk of life. We must remember that no matter where our journey takes us we are still loved by an Amazing Creator and in the end we need to band together like the Flame of the woods in order to burn brighter. rejoice

h Stay Healthy - Christmas Sides Recipes by Delano Mighty You could gain some weight in December as Christmas food (and no “Christmas exercise”) takes over. Fight the weight gain by eating lean protein, like turkey or chicken breast, and limit unhealthy sides and super-sweet desserts. You can eat healthily and heartily! Here are two quick recipes for my favourite Christmas sides. Royal Salad My family enjoys this colourful, festive side every Christmas. Shred purple cabbage, green cabbage and carrots in a bowl. Add raisins and crushed nuts, like peanuts or almonds. Toss together and serve with a coconut or olive oil vinaigrette (3 parts oil, 1 part vinegar, whisked together) on the side, if you like. The raisins reduce appetite, while the nuts add extra protein and texture. If you’re allergic to nuts, swap them out for high protein seeds. Mashed Cauliflower “Fauxtatoes” Using a head of tender steamed cauliflower instead of potatoes, this side is every bit as hearty and low in carbohydrates. Add a pinch of salt to the steamed cauliflower and blend them in a blender or food processor, or just mash them with a fork until they are creamy. You can spice it up with olive oil, garlic or cheese. renew

By Alister Hemmings Across 8 locations throughout the island, the Young Adult Commission of the JBU Youth Department held Bible Talk: Uncensored, a panel discussion for young Christians to dive into the traditionally taboo subjects. I attended the St. Ann’s Bay location which saw about 23 persons in attendance. Youth turned up from various churches such as St. Ann’s Bay, Walkerswood, Brown’s Town and Orange Park Baptist Church. What was thought to be a regular night amongst the youth soon turned out to be far from the traditional program, with topics discussed such as porn addiction, fetishes and lust being discussed. The panel had two panellists, ably guided by a moderator who led those present into various perspectives and facts on the topics being discussed. There was also time for thoughts, views and questions to be shared among all who were present.
Considering the fulsome discussions, it was clear that everything wouldn’t get discussed but it was clear that there wouldn’t be any moments of awkward silence. Everyone was open to share different insights and experiences (personal and otherwise) and of course dropping some biblical references along the way. While the evening progressed, it was clear that all of the topics had corelation to each other and this was displayed with the fluidity with which the topics flowed into each other. It was clear that Bible talk was a success in St Ann’s bay based on the discussions with persons who were in attendance. The opportunity to have such a forum to talk about the taboos that many young Christians struggle with and probably didn’t have a full understanding about was well received and persons went as far as to voice how interested they were to have a follow up
session as soon as possible. Bible Talk: Uncensored was needed for such a time as this among the Baptist fraternity. To have been able to create and facilitate a space for persons to feel free to speak on these issues without fear of being looked down on or judged is clearly beneficial. This is not only true for St Ann’s Bay but across all locations there was a clear desire for a part two. reach

Stay in your Lane by Andria Bryce
God has a specific plan and path for your life. The word of God told us that we each have talent(s), role, path, task and responsibilities. If you compare yourself with others, you will diminish what is special about you, becoming distressed, distracted, discouraged and defeated.
Hebrews 12:1c (NIV) says “… and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us”. Therefore, fix your eyes on Jesus and stay in your lane. Concentrate on your own purpose, and make up your mind to persevere until the end!
