La Pizza Fresca Ristorante is a charming Italian trattoria with authentic Italian cuisine, award winning wood-fired brick oven Neapolitan pizza and one of the top Italian wine lists in the USA. It is conveniently located near Union Square’s restaurant and shopping district in New York City.

La Pizza Fresca Ristorante is a member of Gruppo Ristoratori Italiani and has been certified for authenticity by the Naples, Italy based organization, Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana. We received the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence from 2001 through 2003 and the Wine Spectator Best of Award of Excellence from 2004 through 2010. Proprietor: Massimo Vitino, Chef: Francesco Greco.

The one and only original model for all 4 restaurants owned by partners Tony Spiridigliozzi and Chef Giovanni Apicella, Amarone Ristorante started a wave on Ninth Avenue to which none compare. Since its inception, it started the rebirth and gentrification of Hell’s Kitchen and Clinton neighborhoods. To date, Amarone is not only the finest on the avenue, but one of the best restaurants in New York City for the finest classical Italian cuisine. Amarone is well known worldwide and strongly believes in word of mouth publicity. Every day, a different pasta is offered including the homemade house specialty, Candy Pasta in a Pink Lobster sauce. Three-color Fettuccini with asparagus or spinach with tomato sauce, Scallions and Ricotta Cheese. The best Italian Buffalo-milk Mozzarella with Tomato and Roasted Pepper, Roasted Branzino, and Filet Mignon in a Gorgonzola sauce.

At Gradisca, our ambition is to offer the most authentic Italian dining experience possible outside of Italy. The menu is a blend of innovation and upgraded classics, but always based on traditional Italian recipes that pay respect to the land where they came from. We strongly believe that the best food starts with the best and freshest ingredients. That’s why we use as much fresh locally grown produce as possible. Other ingredients that are essential to authentic Italian cooking such as salumi, Parmigiano-Reggiano, mozzarella, olive oil, and traditional aceto balsamico, we import from Italy. It is our goal to ensure that everything that comes out of our kitchen is always the most authentic and delicious Italian food possible.

Our chefs follow traditional Italian recipes that pay respect to the land where they came from. When they do introduce a new recipe to the menu, it is always informed by these same traditions. It is our goal to ensure that everything to come out of our kitchen is always the most authentic and delicious Italian food possible.

The wine department at Gradisca shares the same essential goal of the kitchen: offer the best of Italy. The wine list is all-Italian, to best complement our cuisine, and to celebrate the phenomenal quality and diversity of Italian grape varietals and vinification.
