Check Product number before install!

Open up the upper control arm pockets, this will allow your upper control arms to raise higher & drop lower gaining more travel. It will also relieve stress on the ball joint mount.

*If pocket is not opened up, upper control arm will crack and break due to unnecessary stress.

A-Arm Removal Stabilizer Bar Removal (1) Raise and support the vehicle.

(2) Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

(3) Remove the upper stabilizer link bolts at the stabilizer bar.

(4) Remove the stabilizer bar bushing clamps from the frame (Fig.8)

(2) Install the upper stabilizer link bolt and washer at the stabilizer bar. Tight the bolt to 136 n.m (100 ft.lbs.).

(3) Install the lower stabilizer link bolt and washer at the lower control arm. Tighten the nut to 115 N.m (85 ft.lbs.).

(4) Install the tire and wheel assembly. (refer to 22TIRE/WHEELS/WHEELS-STANDARD PROCEDURE).

(2) Install the stabilizer bar bushing clamps (Fig.8).

(3) Install the upper stabilizer link bolts and washer at the stabilizer bar. Tighten the bolt to 136 N.m (100 ft.lbs.).

(4) Install the tire and wheel assembly. (Refer to 22 - TIRE/WHEELS/WHEELS - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

(5) Lower the vehicle.

Upper Control Arm Removal Removal - Right Side (1) Raise and support the vehicle.

(2) Remove the right side tire and wheel assembly.

(3) Remove the upper ball joint nut.

(4) Separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle using tool C-4150A. (5) Lower the vehicle.

(6) Remove the air box (refer to 9 - ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENTREMOVAL).

(7) Remove the cruise control servo mounting nuts.

(8) Remove the upper control arm rear bolt.

(9) Remove the upper control arm front bolt.

(10) Remove the upper control are from the vehicle.

Stabilizer Link Removal (1) Raise and support the vehicle.

(2) Remove the tire and wheel assembly.

(3) Remove the lower stabilizer link bolt at the lower control arm.

(4) Remove the upper stabilizer link bolt at the stabilizer bar.

(5) Remove the stabilizer link. (Fig. 9)

A- Arm Removal & Installation Removal - Left Side (1) Raise and support the vehicle.

(2) Remove the left side tire and wheel assembly.

(3) Remove the upper ball joint nut.

(4) Separate the upper ball joint from the steering knuckle using tool C-4150A. (5) Lower the vehicle.

(6) Remove the batter (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ BATTERY SYSTEM/BATTERY - REMOVAL).

(7) Unclip the power center and move it to the side out of the way.

(8) Remove the battery tray (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/TRAY - REMOVAL).

(9) Disconnect the abttery temperature sensor from the battery tray.

(10) Remove the upper control arm rear bolt by using a ratchet and extension under the steering shaft and positioned by the power steering reservoir. (Fig. 10)

(6) Install the upper ball joint nut. Tighten the nut to 81 N.m (60ft.lbs.)

(7) Install the right side tire and wheel assembly.

(Refer to 11 - TIRES/WHEELS/WHEELS/ STANDARD PROCEDURE).

(8) Lower the vehicle.

(9) Set the toe and center the steering wheel (Refer to 2- SUSPENSION/WHEEL ALIGNMENT - STANDARD PROCEDURE).

INSTALLATION - LEFT SIDE (1) Grease outer surface of the EZ Lube Bushings.

(2) Install the upper control arm to the vehicle.

(3) Install the upper control arm front bolt (Fig.11) Tighten the bolt to 122 N.m (90 ft.lbs.).

(4) Install the upper control arm rear bolt (fig.11). tighten the bolt to 122 N.m (90 ft.lbs.).

(5) Reconnect the battery temperature sensor to the battery tray.

(6) Install the battery tray (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/BATTERY SYSTEM/TRAY - INSTALLATION).

(7) Install the battery (Refer to 8 - ELECTRICAL/ BATTERY SYSTEM/TRAY - INSTALLATION).

(8) Reclip and mount the power center.

(9) Install the upper ball joint nut (Fig.11) Tighten

(12) Remove the upper control arm from the vehicle.

INSTALLATION-RIGHT SIDE (1) Grease outer surface of the EZ Lube bushings.

(2) Install the upper control arm to the vehicle.

(3) Install the upper control arm front bolt. Tighten the bolt to 122 N.m (90ft.lbs.).

(4) Install the upper control arm rear bolt. Tighten the bolt to 122 n.m (90ft.lbs.).

(5) Install the cruise control servo mounting nuts.

(6) Install the air box (Refer to 9 - ENGINE/AIR INTAKE SYSTEM/AIR CLEANER ELEMENT - INSTALLATION).

(10) Lower the vehicle.

(11)Seth the toe and center the steering wheel (Refer to 1 - SUSPENSION/WHEEL ALIGNMENT- STANDARD PROCEDURE).

Maintenance Procedure

Every 3,000-5,000 miles: (at the interval of every oil change) -Grease the ball joint with 3-4 pumps of lithium complex grease fortified with moly (molybdenum disulfide).

-Grease the upper control arm bushings with lithium complex grease fortified with moly (molybdenum disulfide), until you see grease consistently pushing out from the bushing’s EZ lube ports.

-Perform a visual inspection of the ball joint boots. Ensure there are no large tears or damage to the rubber. If you see significant damage, we recommend replacing the boot with a a new one. Bushing Replacement Replacement instructions for bushing kit #JBA-TC-69000-EZ-4.5 1. Remove old bushing and sleeves from bushing bong.

Older JBA arms: Top side of arms, drill a hole above the weld and center of the bushing bong for the new grease fitting. Then tap hole for ¼-28 grease fitting.

2. Thread in grease fitting supplied with bushings.

3. Install red grease cap on fitting.

6. Push in the inner bushings first (Small Flange bushing).

Bushing Replacement 7. Open the grease packet, squeeze grease in the surface of the ¾” hole of all 8 bushings.

8. Put a thin coat of grease on the steel sleeves.

9. Squeeze grease from the tube in on the center of the bong filling the gap between the black bushings with grease.

10. Press in the outside bushings (Large Flange bushing).

11. Press in the steel sleeves.

12. With the excess grease that squeezes out, apply it to the outsides of the bushings 13. Do this for all 4 bushing bongs

JBA EZ Lube Bushings

JBA has a patent on our control arm bushings. The EZ lube bushings have grease ports with a check valve. There is no need to loosen the mounting bolts to release the grease pressure.

The maintenance procedure is simple: Attach grease gun to the bushing valve, pump lithium complex grease fortified with moly (molybdenum disulfide) until you see grease pushing out from the bushing face. It builds up pressure and flows all around the ports in the bushing. Attach grease gun to the ball joint grease fitting, add 3-4 pumps of lithium complex grease fortified with moly (molybdenum disulfide).

1 grease cartridge will be more than sufficient.

JBA Ball Joint

We recommend using Mobilgrease XHP™ 222 Special grease it extended service lithium complex greases intended for a wide variety of applications and severe operating conditions. These greases were designed to outperform conventional products by applying cutting edge, proprietary, lithium complex manufacturing technology. It is formulated to provide excellent high temperature performance with superb adhesion, structural stability, and resistance to water contamination. This grease has a high level of chemical stability and offer excellent protection against rust and corrosion. This grease feature high dropping points and maximum recommended operating temperature of 140º C (284°F). Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special grease available in NLGI grades 2 or 3 with an ISO VG 220 base oil viscosity. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special grease is designed for a wide range of applications including the industrial, automotive, construction and marine sectors. Their performance features make them ideal choices for operating conditions including high temperature, water contamination, shock loading and extended re-lubrication operations. Mobilgrease XHP 222 Special is an extreme pressure grease fortified with 0.75% molybdenum disulfide that provides protection from wear under conditions pivoting and other conditions that lead to loss of oil film.

Factory alignment specs for basically all vehicles call for a certain degree of positive caster. This ensures good stability, helps maintain straight-ahead direction and promotes steering wheel self-centering. Camber is the inward or outward tilt of the front tires as viewed from the front. Toe-in is the amount the tires point in at each other from being parallel with each other.

The higher you lift an IFS vehicle the less caster you will have, the JBA upper control arms will help replace the caster lost from lifting your vehicle.
