BIKES BBQ AND BANDS AT THE SWINGING ARM
from Merseyside Loudmouth
On Sunday 26th March 2023, The Swinging Arm, known as the home of the Wirral’s live music, held an event that started just after the Wirral Egg Run Tribute fundraiser, as a meeting point and destination for bikers and those who love local rock music.
The event was a fundraiser to raise money for NEO Community and Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes. NEO community are a charity that aim to provide food assistance and support throughout the local community in Birkenhead. They are at the forefront of reducing food waste and food insecurity through awareness, education, and food provision. Merseyside & Cheshire Blood Bikes are a 24-hour charity that service the NHS 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, transporting blood, organs, tissues and human milk across Merseyside and Cheshire.

The event kicked off around the early afternoon with the first band to play ‘The Bite’. A classic hard rock band with lyrics that are catchy enough to sing along with, covers of songs that, if you enjoy all things rock music, you will certainly know and love. They were a good opening act for the event, giving off a positive, uplifting vibe to the rest of the day. If you enjoy bands such as Monster Truck or Alter bridge, this band is one to see.
As the sun was shining, the beer was flowing and the BBQ, serving the juiciest burgers you could ask for, to cure the tipsy hunger. The outside of the venue started filling up with motorbikes, the sound of the engines and the smell of petrol created an atmosphere filled with excitement, with people of all ages smiling ear to ear.
The second band, ‘The Swillers’ were due to perform on stage. A Northwest based live band with 26 years’ worth of experience, playing all the rock classics. Bringing back the glory days of hard rock is their mission and having a good time is the chosen route…and this is evident on stage. They play loud and proud and want everybody to have a good time.
We caught up with Ron, the lead singer The Swillers, before they performed on stage.
He said: “The Swinging Arm is one of our regulars. We love it here. We love the landlord, and we love the people. We prefer to play right here because the people know quite what entertainment is all about…The atmosphere is electric and you buzz off the crowd.”

Jo-ann Jenkins, who was at the event, said:
“I thought it was a great gig, full of energy! I loved the interactive bits with the audience. They played all the great high energy songs, put everyone in a really good mood and wow!”
