Hi!I am Jay, a highly driven and aspirational Architecture graduate, passionate about expanding my skills within the architecture industry.

I possess a solid design foundation and advanced proficiency in technical drawing, 3D modeling, rendering and CAD/BIM software. I am passionate about developing sustainable, innovative designs that enhance user experience and well-being, with a strong commitment to shaping the future of the built environment.

Beyond architecture, my background as a dedicated martial artist has instilled in me discipline, courtesy, integrity, and perseverance. These qualities have been further developed through my work as a door supervisor, where I managed intense, high-stakes situations with professionalism and efficiency, building trust and resolving conflicts effectively.

The problem-solving, time-management, and endurance required to balance my part-time employment with my academic studies have reinforced my ability to handle complex architectural projects with focus and determination.

Vigentino Primary School + Communtiy Hub

The brief for the project was to develop a proposal for our given site based on thorough contextual research. The site is in the north zone of Vigentino, a district in Milan, Italy. It’s one of the city’s most significant regeneration areas which includes the future 2026 Olympic Village.

The approach to the brief revolves around the idea of reinventing the school; Transforming an abandoned, lifeless site into the heart of the local community as a state of the art Primary school that functions as an out of hours communal-hub.

The intervention aims to bring people from all walks of life together in a location that will cultivate their children’s bright futures, through sustainable and modern architectural design.

The site is in Vigentino in Zone 5 of Milan, Italy. The immediate area has an extremely dominant proportion of commerical developments and relatively few residencies, which is projected to be the inverse in the next decade due to Milan being the host city of the 2026 Olympics, which has had a very consistent trend of drastically increasing the population.

These projections also predict a great lack of greenspace for the new population density as well as an extreme lack of schools available in the area.

VIGENTINO | B.Arch 3rd Year | 2024 | External View: Courtyard

• Staggered building heights give optimal sunllight to the space.

• Surrounded by glass giving a big transparent, open and welcoming atmosphere.

• Lots of trees to promote wellbeing and fresh air admist the poor air quality in the area.

• Stone seating which also aids in the communal element and encourages use of the space.

• playground and play equipment for the students.

• recycled tiles to reduce the buildings carbon footprint.

Space has high up windows to ensure enough privacy but sufficient daylight. Has nurse’s office and conference spaces. The materiality of the space uses carpet flooring, CLT walls and wooden slat ceiling.

Internal View: Foyer

Big open entrance atrium with accented vibrant CLT staircase. Reception and staff rooms are situated such that they’re immediately accessible upon entry into the building for all users, students, staff and the wider community.

Internal View: Entrance

The multifunctional sports hall has Bifolding concertina doors that open to create direct circulation from the street, through the sports hall and into the courtyard to maximise the openness of the space and the desired communal atmosphere.

This view shows the aerial perspective of my proposal. From here you can see all the street-facing facades of the building as well as the greenroof terrace and the ground floor courtyard and how these spaces are lush with greenery and vegitation

This is a photograph I took of the site from our initial site visit in order to capture a first person view of the whole site in it’s entirety. The is an abundance of vibrancry from the flowers in the foreground, the graffitti that decorates the entire site wall in the midground and the sun in the background.

B.ARCH - PROJECT 05

Dual-type Housing

The brief for this project was designing houses to live and work in, and a new community of at least 12 live-work families located in the heart of Fish Island in London, responding to the area’s cultural and social history, and current and future condition.

Hackney Wick has a long and rich history, having a particularly prominent role in London’s intrustrial history. Artists used low-cost warehouse as work spaces during the height of London’s industrial period, which invovled into the rich and artistic Hackney Wick we see today.

Software: Photoshop Indesign Illustrator AutoCAD SketchUp Enscape

Now, Hackney Wick is a world class creative quarter and is now home to a large number of artists, musicians and other creatives. The area has a high proportion of social housing, as well as 250 artists’ studios and 100 creative businesses

DUAL-TYPE HOUSING | B.Arch 3rd Year | 2023 | Site Collage

This is a collage I made from another photo from our site visit. I wanted to capture the vibrancy of the graffitti that englufs both the site wall, the Lord Star Napier and all over Hackney Wick.

In this page I used data I found from my resarch to construct my own sections of the site, cutting it into 4 sections in to use for diagrams, drawings and design strategies for the proposal moving forward.

Current Site Condition:

•dilapidated 3m high brick wall

•There are no buildings on the site

•The wall is all that remains of the Hope Chemical Works

Proposed Site Plan

The site plan contains 13 detached houses, all of which are Sourh-East facing, in line with the contours of the site. There is a pathway through the middle of the site to give easy access to all of the shops and have a semi-private area for a sense of community and homeliness.

The first floor plan situates the communal kitchen and an adjacent terrace with a large amount of floorspace to make the inhabitants as comfortable as posible.

The ground floor contains 4 different workspaces divided into 4 adjacent strips. The walls that divide the spaces have their own sliding doors to open up the spaces for collaboration and community.

This piece was inspired by a spark of creativity I had revisitng old photos from school. This was an assembly of school objects which I thought had an intruiging form and shape in year 11 which even then I was intruiged by the the practice of abstraction.

Initial sketch Process

This piece was commisioned from a friend as a birthday gift for his partner. I was sent a selection of her favourite artworks and Instagram posts she liked which I used as elements within the piece and to establish both the narrative and atmosphere of the drawing.

Drawing process

The theme for the Fine Art unit of my Foundation Degree was “Collage”. As I had already established at this point that I wanted to pursue architecture but had a mostly fine art background at this point I attempted to combine these disciplines and make a digital drawing based on a collage I made of London architecture.

DRAGON CITY — FINE ART | Foundation Art | 2020 | Abstract Architecture Drawing

The inspiration for this piece was quite literally a burnt tortilla with an odd shape. I extracted the lines and curves of the object and reimagined them into the form of an architectural space. This was an experimental tests for trying to find my art style, practicing digital drawing skills and delving into my love for creativity through abstraction.
