 According to Jay Sawyer of Northbrook, the kickoff is widely considered the most dangerous play in the NFL.  Moreover, after a number of tweaks, it is now also considered the most boring.  He feels that in a league that struggles with injuries, getting rid of the kickoff could keep players healthy and speed up the game.

About The NFL Proposing To Replace the Onside Kick  Jay Sawyer of Northbrook shares that The NFL is proposing to replace the onside kick with a 4th-and-15 from the kicking team’s own 25-yard line.  However, this is not an entirely new idea as some teams proposed a much stricter alternative, which was voted down by owners last year.  The now-defunct Alliance of American football had an option for a 4th-and12 from the 28-yard line if a team was down by more than 17 points in the last 5 minutes of the game.
