However, the horrific events that have happened in the past couple of years have forced people to take a closer look at it.



Aside from the pristine-looking tracks, happy crowds, and economic benefits of horse racing events, there is also a dark side to them that cannot be overlooked.

Sawyer Confirms that Horses are Extremely Powerful Animals



Sawyer makes a statement that horses are extremely powerful animals, and really do not have to let humans do anything with them.



Hence, an act of cruelty can be dangerous not only for the horse but also for the rider, if the horse responds aggressively.



It is cruel to hit an animal with a whip as the whip plays a key role in good horsemanship.

He Explains How Horse Racing is Cruel



Jay Sawyer of Northbrook shares that horse racing exposes horses to a significant risk of injury and sometimes, catastrophic injury and death through trauma (e.g. broken neck) or emergency euthanasia.



He further says that if you really care, it is never cruel, but if you do not, it can be very uncomfortable for the horse, and even cruel.



He states that the horses feel pain and show it through subtle signs while ridden.



According to a study, nearly 10 race horses died every week at American racetracks in the year 2018.
