O
ur season is now drawing to a close and, while the ladies’ competitions have all finished, some men’s and mixed competitions will be continuing for those who will be around for the summer. There is no doubt that Emirates Golf Club is one of the most active clubs in the region in terms of competitions and other golf and social events and it’s great that there is so much support for these by our members. In addition, other areas of the Club are exceptionally busy too with swimming activities, tennis, Padel tennis, Fit Lab and SensAsia Urban Spa. The Academy is always buzzing with activity and all of our Pros have exceptionally busy schedules with individual and group lessons, ladies’ and juniors’ clinics and the very active Junior and Elite programmes. Thank you to all our amazing colleagues in every department who do such a superb job.

Our Captains, Ivan and Najla, officially finish their year at the end of August; they have done a tremendous job and their hard work has been very much appreciated by all. On 1st September we will be welcoming our new Captains for the 2018-2019 season, Paul Byrne and Sulafa Hamdan, together with Vice-Captains, Ishu Rupani and Yana Jamieson and we wish you all the best for the season ahead. This summer sees the departure of one of our long-standing members and Past Lady Captain, Jenny Ayres. Good luck with your move to Scotland next month - we look forward to your visits back here next season.

All Club matchplays have now concluded and there were some very close matches indeed. Congratulations to all winners and commiserations to all runners-up. Full results are in this issue. Congratulations also to Naima Maya who is this year’s Golfer of the Year - well done on your consistent golf throughout the season. This is the final issue of Club Life for this season and the next one should be published at the beginning of September. I would like to thank all contributors for their help throughout the season. Captain’s Message

W
e are in June already, and Emirates Golf Club’s season will finish at the end of May. I have enjoyed being Captain of Emirates Golf Club for the 2017–2018 season and being part of the Club life and most of the events here. I have tried my utmost to represent the best Club in this region. The season was long with many tournaments - both Professional and Amateur events. I met many of you members and played golf throughout the season with you. I would have liked to have played with all of you, but that was not possible. Our Club is big and still growing. Now all our restaurants have been renovated, we have a new driving range coming soon, and there are many new developments being looked at. I only hope and wish that the Club remains a members’ Club. This is last issue of Club Life for this season and I have to thank all the Management of the Club, Chris May, Barney Coleman and the rest of our colleagues at Emirates Golf Club who all helped me so much during the season. I wish I could have more time in this role. There would be no Club Life without Jacqui Barry. Thank you Jacqui. Thanks to Najla Bartette, our Lady Captain for all your work done during the season. Congratulations to the ladies’ section on winning the Ladies’ InterClub series. Congratulations to our Emirates Golf Club Scratch League Team for their second place finish in the league, having only lost the finals on the fourth extra play-off hole. Congratulations also to Mike Mezei who won the Black Tee challenge. Congratulations also go
to all the winners of the May Tournaments and to all the Club Matchplay winners. The Captain’s Matchplay at the end of the season saw a full field competing. I lost my match, but we won the battle and the Captain’s Team took the trophy again. I must say it is a great tournament at the end of the season culminating in the presentation of the prizes to the Matchplay winners. Let’s hope this tradition continues. We still have three summer months ahead of us until the new Captains start their season; most of you will be travelling and escaping the Dubai heat I’m sure, but if you are here, come and play golf - there will be plenty of cold towels available for you out on the course. I will be here for at least half of the summer. I wish all of you safe travels and an enjoyable holiday; relax and get ready for the next golfing season. I would like to thank all the members of Emirates Golf Club for the support extended to me during my Captaincy. Finally, I am taking this opportunity to wish Paul Byrne and Sulafa Hamdan a wonderful season ahead. I am confident we will have two excellent new Captains. MEN’S COMPETITION RESULTS BLACK TEE CHALLENGE 4th & 5th May 2018

his year’s Black Tee Challenge, supported by UAE Exchange and Club Exclusive, was played across the Faldo and Majlis courses over two days. Players from all over the UAE region competed for the top prize in a 36-hole stroke-play format. By the end of the tournament, the prizes were dominated by Emirates Golf Club. The winner and defending champion, Mike Mezei (EGC), showed great consistency by posting 74 on the first day then a 75 on the second to give a total of 149 (+5). In the end, that total was good enough to win by three strokes from Colin Frazer (Scotland) who posted 152, with a steady 75 and 77 on the first and second days respectively. Rounding off the overall net prizes was Chris Cornwall (Dubai Creek) with a total of 154, including a 76 on the first day and a 78 on the second. In the overall net section, the winner Rajinder Razdan (EGC), showed great consistency by posting 73 on the first day then a fantastic 69 on the second to give a total of 142 (-2). Rajinder’s total was good enough to win by 10 strokes
from Sekhar Reddy (EGC) who posted 152, with 71 and 81 in the first and second rounds respectively. Rounding off the overall net prizes was Yasser Refai (EGC) with a total of 154, with a 80 on the first day and a 74 on the second. Within the daily categories, Day 1 saw Imran Qayyum (EGC) claim the best net score prize with 73 over the Faldo course and Kenny Babcock (EGC) with the best gross score of 78, winning by virtue of a better back nine on the Faldo course, one which included a birdie run! Day 2 saw Fredrick Shauman (EGC) win the best gross score prize having carded 75 and James Shanahan (Ireland) claim the best net score prize, with 73 over the Majlis course. The final prize on the day went to Laxman Perera for his lucky raffle win, courtesy of UAE Exchange. We thank them for their excellent sponsorship of this prestigious event and we look forward to our future partnership. Well done to all players for taking part, and to all prize winners on the day!

MEN’S TOURNAMENT OF CHAMPIONS Friday 25th May 2018

his year’s Men’s Tournament of Champions was played on the Majlis course on Friday 25th May 2018. Players who had won tournaments throughout the season qualified and competed for the top prize in a stroke-play format. The winner was Suresh Shewakramani with a fantastic net score of 70. Losing out by virtue of a better back nine scorecard play-off and finishing as runner-up was our Vice-Captain Paul Byrne, also with 70 net. The fight for third place was extremely well contested, with only one shot separating third place and sixth place; securing the third spot by this fine margin was Praveen Sharma with 71 net. In the gross section the winner, Bradley Mogire, took home first prize with an amazing 69 gross. Having played the four par 5’s in 4 under par, Bradley only carded one bogey on the difficult 12th hole, finishing 3 under par for the day. Congratulations to all who qualified after a season of hard work and dedication!

aturday 9th of June saw the return of the OMA Emirates Medal Championship, in association with iInsured, which was played over the Majlis course. With a day of very close scoring, our overall winner was Chris Asher who shot a fantastic 68 net. His score was also good enough to take the top prize in B Division (handicaps 13-28), beating Sudhir Vora by two strokes. Sudhir then pipped third place finisher Anand Lakhiani, after both players shot 72 net with Sudhir having had a better back 9 score.

DUbai Golf Summer Series 2018 The Faldo course played host to Fixture 1 of this year’s Dubai Golf Summer Series on Saturday June 16th 2018. Leading the series after Fixture 1 is Alberto Rubio Martinez after he carded an amazing 43 stableford points, claiming a Titleist fairway wood for his victory. Alok Pant finished as runner-up with a fantastic score of 38 points, picking up a new Titleist golf bag for his score. In third place was Subhojit Biswas who scored 36 points, beating two others in a scorecard playoff on the back 9 and winning a brand new Titleist Vokey Wedge. Max Burrows carded a very solid round of 71 strokes, 1 under par gross, to claim the gross prize on the day, also picking up a new Vokey wedge. The on-course prizes went to Aman Dhillon for his Nearest the Pin on Hole 2 and Hugo Garcia, who finished nearest to the pin on Hole 12, both players collecting a dozen Pro V golf balls. The prize presentation was conducted in Football Central at Emirates Golf Club, where the World Cup matches were enjoyed by all. Congratulations to all players who took part, and also to each prize winner. We would also like to thank the sponsors of the series, Pro Sports, for the fantastic Titleist Prizes! We had another great month in May with lots happening, starting with our last Medal of the season where we were trying to get the final Golfer of the Year points or trying to secure a place in the Tournament of Champions competition at the end of the month! Well done to Naima Maya who managed to clinch the Golfer of the Year title this season with a special mention to Maura Duggan, who was runner-up and has had a great season! Our Colleagues/Members’ Scramble was very popular this year and it was highly supported by our members. It is always a fun event when colleagues and members get to know each other by teaming up in a friendly golf game followed by dinner! Bingo Bango Bongo, not an African chant I assure you, but another fun format that we played last month. Extra points are awarded - one point for being first on the green; once on the green an extra point is awarded if you’re closest to the pin and an extra point is also awarded if you’re the first one to hole out! he Ladies’ Monthly Medal, was held on the Faldo course on Monday 7th May which was the final Medal of this season and the scoring showed that the ladies were closing out with a bang! Congratulations to overall and Silver A Division winner Jayshree Gupta who scored a fantastic net score of 66 on the day to win by a clear margin. Runner-up was Arathi Appaiah who scored a steady net 73. The best overall gross on the day was Maria Victoria Arias who carded a fantastic 75 gross.
In Silver B Division, it was Jo Docherty who picked up first prize with a solid net 73. Runner-up was Helen Srivastava who also scored a net 75. In Bronze Division, June McDonald finished on top with a fine net 72. The final prize of the day went to Sabine Choudry, the lucky raffle prize winner! All winners will now enjoy various lavish experiences courtesy of Palazzo Versace Dubai.

Our very much-anticipated ladies’ golf trip finally happened. 28 lucky ladies, accompanied by Rhys, flew to Bangkok and then took a three hour bus trip to Hua Hin to spend six days in heaven! Our travel agent, Golf Asian, did an outstanding job in organising our accommodation at Centara Beach Hotel as well as arranging our dining and golf bookings! We played at four golf courses, Springfield Royal Country Club, Sea Pines Golf Club, Banyan Tree Golf Club and Black Mountain Golf Club. Our last dinner, along with our final prizes, which was a culmination of all four rounds with an order of merit on each day, were generously sponsored by the Tourism Authority of Thailand! What a treat! We all agreed that our preferred experience and golf round was at Banyan Tree where, General Manager, Stacey Walton, a former Emirates Golf Club F&B Manager, went out of his way to organise an amazing welcome followed by a Thai influenced dinner with a couple of prizes for nearest the pins! This was a great afternoon of golf and entertainment with a sunset background that was stunning! We came back to Dubai with heavy eyelids…and heavy suitcases filled with fresh and dried fruits and some golf attire! Despite a daily massage, we came back on the Sunday evening a bit tired but definitely refreshed and some of us even managed to make it to our Monday morning Whack and Hack competition!

e are at the end of our official season, as unbelievable as this might sound and I hate to repeat what might seem a cliché but “where did the time fly?”. There’s a saying in Arabic that says that when you’re having a great time you don’t feel the time passing which is so true in my case!
What better way to end our official season than with our prestigious Tournament of Champions which is a great event that sees the season’s winners compete for the title of Champion! Well done to Selma Kehoe who played phenomenal golf to clinch the title and congratulations also to the other prize-winners.
All things have to come to an end and, with that in mind, I followed in the footsteps of Past Captains to finish the season with the end-of-year Scramble which was played on the first Monday in June! Although it was a very hot and humid morning we all had an enjoyable time playing our last competition. This has been an amazing season for me and I hope that you’ve enjoyed it as much as I have. I take this opportunity to welcome our incoming Captains Sulafa Hamdan and Paul Byrne and our incoming Vice-Captains Yana Jamieson and Ishu Rupani Wishing you all a lovely summer wherever your travels may take you! onday 14th May saw the ladies take to the Majlis course for the Bingo, Bango, Bongo competition which was a Stableford format with an additional one point on each hole awarded for the first ball on the green, the closest to the pin when all balls were on the green and the first ball in the hole. The winner was Fiona Berry, carding a fantastic score of 39 points with an additional 20 bonus points, finishing with a total of 59 points. The fight for second and third places was extremely well contested, with only one point separating the two players. Securing the runner-up spot by this fine margin was Haide Wright with 33 points and an additional 25 points, finishing with a total of 58 points. This was very closely followed by Jo Docherty who finished with a total of 57 points, with 38 Stableford points and 19 additional points.

he Whack and Hack competition which was 4-person team Stableford format combining the highest and lowest scores from each hole.
The winners were Lady Captain Najla Bartette, Annette Carstanjen, Natalya Andakulova and Glory Xavier, with a fantastic score of 88 points. The fight for second place was extremely well contested, with only two points separating the two teams. Securing the runner-up spot was Veronica Elias, Jo Docherty, Naima Maya and Jenny Ayres with 84 points. This score was very closely followed by Haide Wright, Mitsuko Emmerson, Moira Gowens and Maribel Xammar who finished with a total of 82 points.

his year’s final ladies’ tournament was a 4-person team Texas Scramble, played on the Majlis Course on Monday 4th June 2018. There was a good turnout by the ladies who braved the very hot desert sun.
The winning team was Christiane Sprunck, Haide Wright, Yana Jamieson and Mitsuko Emmerson, who managed to card an impressive net 62.7. The runner-up spot went to the team of Kiyono Taniuchi, Sandra Chia, Selma Kehoe and Sue Hopwood, with a 63.2 net, only half a stroke behind! The third place finishers were Arathi Appaiah, Monica Palao, Gema Blanco and Veronique Rossett, carding a 64.3 net. This tournament brought to a close some of the season-long competitions which have been greatly contested. Huge thanks go to Lady Captain Najla Bartette and Vice-Captain Sulafa Hamdan for their tireless and endless work on these tournaments throughout the season. he Majlis course played host to Emirates Golf Club’s Ramadan Open this year on Thursday May 31st 2018. With a strong field of over 70 players, there was a Ladies’ and a Men’s Division on the day. Topping the Ladies’ Division was Mitsuko Emmerson with a fantastic score of 38 points, the best overall score on the day! In second place was Sandra Chia after carding 34 points. In the Men’s Division, Arjun Manghnani triumphed after an excellent score of 36 points, closely following by our runner-up, Takamasa Makita with 35 points. Third place was decided by a better back three scorecard playoff, after five players were tied on 34 points with Anand Kapoor winning the prize! The on-course prizes for the Ladies’ Nearest the Pin on Hole 11 was won by Selma Kehoe. The Men’s Nearest the Pin was won by James Thain on Hole 4. Longest Drive on Hole 3 for the ladies went to Swati Singh and Siddharth Dutta claimed the Men’s Longest Drive prize on Hole 12. The prize presentation was conducted in the wonderful Dallah Lounge at Emirates Golf Club, where an Iftar Buffet was available to all competitors after play.

harjah Golf & Shooting Club emerged victorious in the 2017-18 Emirates Scratch League after defeating favourites Emirates Golf Club. The scores were level after a 2-2 score on the Majlis and a 2-2 score on the Sharjah course which meant a suddendeath decider. Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club opted for Fisher (+3.3 handicap) and Chinese 15-year-old Zi (William) Ang Xu (+0.6 handicap) to face Emirates Golf
Club’s duo of former touring professional Mike Mezei (+3.8) and Kenny Babcock (+2.5) in overtime.
The first, second and third holes were halved but the fourth hole was where it all ended when Fisher produced a magnificent shot with his 4-iron from 220 yards finding the back of the 553-yard par-5, 4th. The four-time Sharjah Golf & Shooting Club champion rolled his 30-footer to three feet and then held his nerve to clinch the title. Congratulation to the Sharjah team and commiserations to Emirates Golf Club after a wonderful season.

olf, like life, constantly tosses exciting surprises at us. That sounds like a cliché, yet I must say, I was blessed with such a privilege
When the idea of travelling to London to attend the prestigious, 2018 BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth Golf Club transpired, I was thrilled. To be right there at Wentworth, to watch top-notch players compete, was indeed a dream come true. Wentworth Golf Club, in Virginia Water Surrey, designed by Steve Smyers, is a par-71 golf course. The 64th edition of the European Tour championship was held from May 24th to 27th at Wentworth. Being at the world class tournament in itself was a varied experience, especially since, over the years, I have been actively involved in more than 19 Omega Dubai Desert Classic events, 12 Omega Dubai
Ladies Classic events and several other tournaments at Emirates Golf Club. At Wentworth, it turned out to be extra special. For the first time I was in a new role ‘spectating’. I enjoyed every bit of it, be it walking with the players as they conquered the pristine golf course, the awesome facilities on and off the course or the enthusiastic spectators thronging the place.
It was thrilling to watch the power-packed action at this year’s tournament, in person. Francesco Molinari and Rory McIlroy took the game to a new level with matching birdies on the 8th, but it was a let-down to see McIlroy lose form with back-to-back bogeys. However, he did boost his game by registering an eagle putt on the 18th. Eventually, Molinari went on to take a twoshot lead to win the championship.
For the first time I got to watch Rory McIlroy play on a course other than the majestic Majlis course at Emirates Golf Club, where he is a European Tour regular.
Another special experience at Wentworth was meeting Mike Stewart of the European Tour at his office. I must say, it’s been wonderful associating with him in Dubai for so many years.
In fact, over the years, golf enthusiasts in Dubai have seen McIlroy play as a 17-yearold at the Dubai Desert Classic in 2007 and evolving from a promising amateur to one of the world’s highly ranked champion players.
All in all, Wentworth was a worthy experience. It will be etched forever in my memory as being four glorious days of golf and of being in London, a city that beckons us with its invigorating old-world charm.

SPOTLIGHT ON Peninsula Kingswood Country Golf Club, Victoria,Australia
W
hile The Peninsula Country Golf Club opened in 1925, planning first began in 1922 when an organisation called Tower Golf House Co. Ltd. issued a prospectus outlining plans to establish a residential golf house. The purpose was to acquire 450 acres at Frankston to create an 18-hole course plus a 9-hole course for women! The house on the property was called the Tower House, a painting of which hangs in the lounge. It was difficult to raise the capital to buy the land but eventually in December 1923 the Tower Golf House opened for business. In a comparatively short time, an 11-hole links was made available, along with a putting green, tennis courts and croquet lawn, garages and a professional’s house. A small group took the initial steps to acquire the property for the purpose of establishing a private country golf club. Eventually the club was to be known as The Peninsula Country Golf Club. The foundation members took over the existing clubhouse on New Year’s Day 1925.
The final 7 holes were completed 18 months later, and the first day of play on the full course took place on 25th September 1926. A plantation fund was established in 1929. This led to the cultivation of native shrubs and trees around the course, which brought the wonderful bird life which abounds today. In 1946 construction on the 9-hole course was suspended during the war, but was eventually resumed and completed in 1948. In the early 1960’s a decision was made to build a new clubhouse at the present location, and to create two 18-hole courses. This new clubhouse was officially opened on 22 July 1967. The Club’s Founders and pioneering members are remembered, in perpetuity, by the various golf trophies named in their honour. KINGSWOOD COUNTRY GOLF CLUB Kingswood Golf Club had its origins back in 1904 as the Dandenong Golf Club.
It was not until 1937, after a number of moves around various paddocks in the Dandenong area, that the Club found its permanent home in Dingley Village. By then it had been renamed Kingswood Golf Club, named after the leased property it had occupied for 16 years before its final move. The new “home” was 120 acres of undulating market garden land in what is now the world-renowned Sandbelt region. Leading golf course architects of the day M.A. & V. Morcom designed a golf course that was then the second longest course in Australia at 6,707 yards. A number of changes have taken place over the ensuing years with architectural “contributions” made by Thompson and Wolveridge, Grant and Spencer, Kevin Hartley, E & G Parslow, and most recently, four magnificent new holes designed by Tony Cashmore. In the early 1990’s Kingswood undertook some major projects. The Clubhouse was completely refurbished and extended. A deliberate approach to retain the charm and character of the old building was taken.

The programme culminated last month with a season closing Tee It Up Olympics. We hosted a variety of skills challenges for schools to come to Emirates Golf Club to test the skills they
had been working on all season in school. It was a great success, so much so that we are going to hold a season-opening Olympics in September. Our elite stage of the pyramid (Red) has had some exciting developments this year linking with many top US Colleges. Our team is shortly going to visit future potential scholarship programmes in the US.

Know your “DEFINITIONS” to help you know the “RULES”
I
n the latest 2016 rule book, between pages 30 - 45, you will find all of the definitions that form the basis of the rules of golf. It is well believed that golfers who are well aware of the definitions will stand a better chance of knowing and playing by the rules. To give you an insight, here are a few that I have selected.
ABNORMAL GROUND CONDITION An “abnormal ground condition” is any casual water, ground under repair or hole, cast or runway on the course made by a burrowing animal, a reptile or a bird.
ADVICE “Advice” is any counsel or suggestion that could influence a player in determining his play, the choice of a club or the method of making a stroke. Information on the rules, distance or matters of public information, such as the position of hazards or the flagstick on the putting green, is not advice.
EQUIPMENT “Equipment” is anything used, worn, held or carried by the player or the player’s caddie, except: • any ball that the player has played at the hole being played, and • any small object, such as a coin or a tee, when used to mark the position of the ball or the extent of an area in which a ball is to be dropped.
PROVISIONAL BALL A “provisional ball” is a ball played under rule 27-2 for a ball that may be lost outside a water hazard or may be out of bounds.
NOTE: Explains why a provisional ball cannot be hit for a ball that may be in a water hazard.
RUB OF THE GREEN A “rub of the green” occurs when a ball in motion is accidentally deflected or stopped by an outside agency NOTE: Refers to the Faldo course flood lights. If a ball strikes the floodlights then it is deemed “rub of the green” and the ball must be played as it lies.
THROUGH THE GREEN Through the green is the whole area of the course except:

We recently hosted the PSA World Series Squash Tournament at the Club and what a fantastic event it was. Although not as high profile as golf and other sports, it was still shown on live television worldwide and it was great exposure for the Club. Nick Matthew, a former World Number 1, was playing in the last tournament of his wonderful career. Nick was very proud to be playing his last tournament in Dubai and especially with it being at Emirates Golf Club.
As this will be our last Club Life until the new season I would like to wish everyone happy summer holidays and I look forward to welcoming you back in September.
The Egyptians are very dominant in squash at the present time and this proved to be the case with both male and female finals being Egyptians, Nour El Sherbini defeating Raneem El Welily and Mohamed El Shorbagy defeating Ali Farag. Both finals were a great spectacle for squash and, by hosting the World Series in Dubai, it has really helped enhance the sport.

Sports Massage with Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation at UPANDRUNNING
I
nstrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilisation (IASTM) treatment is now available with Justin Walsh - Sports Massage Therapist at the UPANDRUNNING Rehabilitation Center at Emirates Golf Club. The technique is a modern evolution from a Traditional Chinese medicine called Gua Sha, where Jade stones were used to treat the sick. Now clinicians use a hard tool to locate and treat soft tissue dysfunction, restrictions, and scar tissue. This is done by scraping, scanning or massaging the skin with an IASTM tool. Tools are normally made from Buffalo horn or stainless steel, they are convex/concave shaped with rounded edges. The instruments break down facial restrictions between the layers of muscle, fascia, and skin. This improves the ability of the tissue to slide over one another. Less friction between layers of tissue drastically improves the movement quality and reduces any related movement pain.
IASTM has grown rapidly in popularity due to its effectiveness and efficiency while being non-invasive for patients.
What conditions and injuries can IASTM treat? People with movement limitations or pain during movements, chronic injury pain, sports injuries, issues with muscle recruitment. People suffering from conditions such as: • Carpal Tunnel Syndrome • Post-surgical/trauma scars • Tendinitis • Myofascial pain • Chronic joint swelling • Muscle strains • Back and neck pain • Joint sprains
Treatment Outcome: IASTM is not a painful or deep treatment it’s a very light, superficial, and non-invasive treatment when done correctly. Treatment will cause the skin to redden and warm (increase blood flow). Mild bruising may occur but will disappear within several hours.

Meet the Sports Massage Therapy Team at UPANDUNNING JUSTIN WALSH - born and raised in Dubai, Justin has always been actively involved in both competitive and recreational sports. As an athlete participating in a range of sports, and with a few injuries as proof, Justin realised his passion for helping others get back to their previous level of activity, and feel good about it! While completing his degree in Exercise and Sport Science at the University of Exeter in the UK he worked alongside the Exeter Chief’s RFC as a strength and conditioning coach as well as a sport scientist, implementing exercise intensity domains for their field based training. Justin holds further qualifications in various soft tissue techniques (Massage, Trigger-point therapy, IASTM), which he uses in cohesion with his strength and conditioning work. y team and I were very proud to host the PSA World Series Event and I would like to thank all members who attended to support the tournament and I’m sure you will agree with me that these men and women are amazing athletes. On the finals evening we had over 500 people in attendance which is fantastic for the sport. What has helped the profile of squash is the latest SQUASH TV where Paul Johnson and Joey Barrington are doing a great job! Well done to JK58 who worked alongside the PSA and Emirates Golf Club team and put on a tremendous event at short notice and we hope to be the host again next year.

S2B PREMIER LEAGUE FANTASY FOOTBALL SEASON 2017/2018 17 players took part this season in the S2B Fantasy football league. Tony Piccolo showed great squad selection, winning the league by 93 points from Gavin Pearson who finished in second place. With 12 societies taking part, it was a big event with over 100 players attending. We selected two teams of eight players and, having previously won this event twice, we arrived with high hopes! However, it just wasn’t to be in 2018. Although we thought we had some outstanding pairings, it did not happen on the day! However the performance at the lunch partly compensated with a lively S2B table who drowned their sorrows throughout the afternoon!

FAREWELL TO PAST CAPTAIN, JENNY AYRES Sadly Past Captain, Jenny Ayes will be leaving Dubai this month and will be relocating to Scotland.
