ADVENT

Welcoming Advent This Advent is like no other in our lifetimes.

We need light to enter the world on so many levels.

I miss you all. I miss our glorious worship together.

I miss your faces and your hugs. But together, we can light up the world with our prayers.

It is vital in times of struggle and isolation to remain steadfast in the practices of our faith. Advent marks the beginning of the Christian year.

Let us walk in the light even as the days grow darker.

SUNDAYS NOV 29, DEC 6, 13 AND 20 9 AM | ZOOM THE LIFE OF CHRIST A STUDY OF THE STAINED GLASS WINDOWS IN THE NAVE Led by art historian Scott Brown, University of North Florida, we will explore one of the four sections of the Life of Christ Windows in the Nave each week. The class will break out in groups to discuss the window in more detail; then reconvene on Zoom for a final reflection.

SATURDAYS NOV 28, DEC 5, 12 AND 19 10 AM | ZOOM ART ADVENTURE Join Linda Privitera each Saturday.

Using some common household items, we will create an Advent screen for a votive candle ... to reflect the colors of the season and echo the beauty of stained glass. A supply list will be posted but you can start by gathering colorful paper napkins that have tones of blue, purple and pink. Tissue papers can also be used.

No previous art experience needed, only a willingness to try something new.

Main St. Park Every evening from Nov. 27 through Dec. 31, from 9 to 9 p.m., the churches of the Cathedral District will shine as part of a driving tour that includes hundreds of brightly lit trees. Load up the car with friends and family and head downtown for Let There Be Light!
