The JATB Story

Jazz at the Ballroom (JATB) was inspired by jazz impresario, Norman Granz, and his Jazz at the Philharmonic (JATP) brand.

In 2014, JATB founder, Suzanne Waldowski, moved into Bing Crosby’s Bay Area estate, a home credited with stories and memories of performers and entertainers. Suzanne began a salon series in the ballroom, showcasing the timeless music of the American Songbook. In 2017, Jazz at the Ballroom formally became a nonprofit.

The goal was to take the ballroom and recreate the aura of a time when people dressed up to spend an evening in the company of unforgettable music. Before long, momentum took over and JATB began presenting shows outside the ballroom. The music and locations remain intimate and world class, leaving audiences knowing they are part of something one-of-a-kind and memorable. And there is nothing as timeless as that.
