ABOUT THE HALL OF FAME Forty-two years ago, Junior Achievement established a Business Hall of Fame to recognize current and past business and community leaders who have made distinguished contributions to the history and prosperity of our region. This year’s outstanding honorees exemplify the meaning of success and the richness of giving back to their community. By their example, they inspire thousands of children in our state to strive for greatness. Each of our honorees brings special meaning to the mission of Junior Achievement: to empower young people to own their future economic success. Junior Achievement is grateful to all who have supported this event through their volunteerism, their personal and corporate funding, and through their virtual presence here this evening. Chief Executive Officer Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center

Michael R. Taylor is a leader with more than 40 years of diverse experience in healthcare governance, management, operations, and consulting. His focus has been on conceiving and implementing strategic business and operations plans, financial turnarounds, economic impact and cost analyses, managed care, integrated delivery systems, corporate reorganizations, mergers and acquisitions, and financial feasibility studies. He has served since 2012 as Chief Executive Officer of Cornell Scott-Hill Health Center of New Haven, which has more than doubled in size to become Connecticut’s most comprehensive, most inclusive and second largest community health center. Previously, he founded and served as president of a health care consulting firm that served more than 200 community health centers nationally and held leadership positions with several national public accounting and health care consulting firms. Taylor serves on numerous Boards, including the Greater New Haven Chamber of Commerce, Long Wharf Theater, Community Health Center Association of CT, Community Health Network of CT and National Association of Community Health Centers.

SPIRIT OF HOPE AWARD Don Shaw, Jr.

Retired Associate Partner, Accenture Director Emeritus, Hartford Habitat for Humanity

Don Shaw, Jr. is a retired executive with more than 40 years public and private sector experience, including senior leadership positions in corporate, government and not-forprofit organizations. He retired in 2010 after seven years as Administrative Operations Manager for the City of Hartford, and served as Interim Executive Director of Hartford Area Habitat for Humanity, 2012-2014. He chaired their Board of Directors, 2004– 2008, and was elected Board Director Emeritus in 2016. He had previously retired as Associate Partner of Accenture in 2003 after more than two decades of distinguished leadership, serving as a management consultant and human resources director for the Hartford office, as well as national and global business units. Shaw’s career began in Wethersfield, as Assistant to the Town Manager and Assistant to the Chief of Police, where he served from 1975 to 1981. He has served as a volunteer and active board member with numerous nonprofit organizations through the years, and is the recipient of distinguished alumni achievement awards from Ohio Wesleyan University and the University of Hartford. He is also a U.S. Navy Vietnam veteran.

CFO & Co-Founder HealthVenture

Donna Lecky is Managing Partner of HealthVenture Capital, CFO & Co-Founder of HealthVenture and Co-Founder & Board Chair of HealthHavenHub. Previously, she was VP, Chief Tax Officer and Tax Counsel, Treasurer and Chief Benefits Officer at Omnicare, a CVS Company. Prior to Omnicare, she was the VP, Chief Tax Officer and General Tax Counsel of HealthSouth Corporation. Before that, for approximately 20 years, she operated in various roles with KPMG, Ernst & Young and Deloitte, supporting healthcare and financial services clients in finance and tax structures, mergers & acquisitions, due diligence, strategy and business development. Lecky serves on the Board of the World Surgical Infection Society, a non-for-profit that addresses global strategies associated with infection disease control, is an Associate Fellow at Pierson College at Yale University, serves on the State and Local Tax Advisory Board of New York University School of Law and was the 2018 recipient of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce Women’s Excellence in Business Award.

Sri Muthu is CEO & Co-Founder of HealthVenture Corporation and Managing Director of HealthVenture Labs. He is also a Co-Founder and Board Chairman of HealthHavenHub. Immediately prior, he was the Head of Technology for Innovation, R&D and the Wells Fargo Startup Accelerator. Previously, Muthu was Head of Technology and Operations for ClearXchange, a payments joint venture of Bank of America, Capital One, JPM Chase, US Bank and Wells Fargo. He co-founded and managed Wells Fargo’s Internet Services Incubator, Labs and R&D in 2007, and managed Technology Investments from 2002 to 2007, responsible for the Online Brokerage, Trust & Investments Services. Prior, he managed multiple product engineering groups after joining Wells Fargo in 1999. Muthu is a National Association of Corporate Directors Governance Fellow and an active panel moderator and judge for Healthcare and Venture Capital events, and holds FINRA 7, 63 and 24 registrations.

HALL OF FAME LAUREATE Yvette Meléndez President YMR Consulting

Yvette Meléndez is president of YMR Consulting, a management consulting organization focusing on board governance. She is a former healthcare policy executive, with over 30 years of experience in public policy and has led large government agencies, educational institutions and nonprofit organizations. Meléndez retired in 2017 as Interim President of the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving. Previously, she was Vice President of Government and Community Alliances for Hartford HealthCare, providing leadership in government affairs and strategic community benefit programs. Prior to that, she was Chief Administrative Officer for the Connecticut State University System and served as Commissioner and Deputy Commissioner for the State Department of Public Health. She currently serves in leadership roles as a corporate and nonprofit trustee in organizations focusing on research and development, philanthropy, public broadcasting, and the arts. Additionally, she has been a leading voice in effective governance practice, the role of philanthropy in addressing the social fabric of communities, education access, and economic and social justice.

HALL OF FAME LAUREATE Anthony Scillia

Regional Managing Partner, New England Marcum LLP

Anthony Scillia is Marcum’s regional managing partner in New England and is a member of the Marcum Executive Committee. He has more than 40 years of experience in public practice, working in international accounting and consulting firms. He has extensive experience serving a wide variety of companies, including providing expert witness testimony for litigation, arbitration and mediation. Active in professional and community organizations, he has served as Audit Committee Chairman for the Board of Directors of the National Stock Exchange, Inc., and the University of New Haven Board of Governors, Chairman of the John B. Pierce Laboratory, and as a member of the Board of Advisors and Contributors for the Journal of Construction Accounting and Taxation. Among additional leadership positions, Scillia served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Shubert Performing Arts Center, a member of the Board of Directors of Long Wharf Theatre and Professional Facilities Management, Inc., Treasurer of the Board of Directors of the Clifford Beers Guidance Clinic and Easter Seals Goodwill Industries Rehabilitation Center, Inc., and an Honorary Board Member of the Walter Camp Football Foundation.

HALL OF FAME LAUREATE Greg Barats

President & Chief Executive Officer Hartford Steam Boiler

Greg Barats is President and Chief Executive Officer of HSB Group Inc., parent company of The Hartford Steam Boiler Inspection and Insurance Company, with insurance and engineering affiliates worldwide. He also serves on the Munich Re U.S. P&C Operations Executive Board, and on the boards of various HSB affiliated corporations. In addition, he leads Munich Re’s Global IoT business, targeting commercial and industrial markets with new technology, risk solutions and business models. Barats is also Chairman of HSB Solomon Associates, LLC, the leading performance improvement company for the global energy industry. While at HSB, he has developed and holds seven U.S. business-method patents, and founded Munich Re Ventures, the venture capital arm, which invests in and partners with innovative tech companies. During his 30 year career, Barats co-founded two companies and has held executive management positions within Munich Re, HSB and AIG. He began his career as a research scientist for the United States Geological Survey in Menlo Park, California.
