NOWHERE TO A word from leadership
My husband Terry and I have been blessed with five beautiful children and five grandchildren. We are “empty nesters,” and that has been tough. After having a large family for a lot of years, the house is very quiet now. I hate that; my husband loves it! I love the country. We recently bought a house on 40 acres, and I am hoping to get a cow! I love animals, as evidenced by the stray dogs and cats that keep coming into my life. Somehow they know I can’t turn them away. I am a hunting widow from about August to December. And I love chocolate!

I can’t believe it has been a month since I joined Jasper Ventures. I am still meeting and getting to know all of you but want to use this opportunity to officially introduce myself. I was raised in the small town of Auburn, Indiana. After graduating from Purdue University with a B.S in Chemical Engineering, I moved to the big city – Houston. I lived in Houston for seven years before going back to the Midwest to work for 12 years. I then moved back to Houston where I worked until accepting a position with Jasper Ventures.

1ST QTR 2020
I have worked in oil and gas for the last 30 years in various roles. My last role was for a large corporation building an engineering team, bottom up, in the oil and gas market. Although it was very rewarding and a wonderful opportunity, my personal life suffered in various ways. Our home was on the far north side of the city and due to the long drive, I stayed in town during the week and went home on the weekends. It was far from a perfect lifestyle. We continued to pray and ask for direction. I would love to say it was an easy, quick answer, but it took a few years to finally see the plan. We were not sure how God was going to work it out, but I waited for the sign I
JasperVenturesInc.com
GO BUT needed to know the time was right, and it happened. I just had peace that it was time to step out on faith. After that moment, it all came together perfectly. I can’t even really explain it other than to say that God works in your life even when you don’t understand or realize what is happening. Sometimes you ask “Why, Lord?” and He says, “Be patient.” Sometimes in the silence, you think He isn’t there, but I assure you He is. Looking back over the last several years, I now feel that God was preparing me to be part of the Jasper Ventures family. Without the last several years, I would not have been prepared to provide the leadership and experience I needed to benefit the Jasper Ventures team. I feel honored to be part of the growth that Jasper Ventures is experiencing. I am impressed with the resources and talent in the company. Our engineering team is focused on pooling our talents to prepare for the future, growing our capabilities to provide solutions for the midstream market, and continuously improving to ensure a consistent, quality product for our clients. Over the course of the next year, engineering will focus on three key areas: specifications, procedures and workflows, and quality assurance. Our engineering team has been busy the

last few weeks identifying codes and standards that will be followed to ensure industry compliance. Additionally, we will be documenting our design specifications to clearly outline our design criteria to our clients. Next, we will evaluate procedures and workflows to document how information and data will move between departments to improve communication and efficiency. As we look at ways to gain a competitive edge, we must function as an efficient team. Procedures and workflows will ensure we are all moving in unison and in the same direction. Finally, quality assurance is an essential piece of our business. Quality assurance means checking our work to ensure when it leaves our hands, it’s right. We must ensure all contractual agreements have been addressed, the engineering design has been checked and is correct, materials and equipment have been correctly identified and procured, and construction has what they need from engineering to build a safe, operable plant. Thank you again for the warm welcome. I am excited about what’s ahead for Jasper Ventures and look forward to the opportunities God has planned for us. Our future together is bright, and there is nowhere to go but up!

QUARTERLY MEETING RECAP Written by: Carrie-Ann Jasper-Yearty - Vice President of People
As 2019 came to an end, our employees in Troup and Whitehouse met at the Troup warehouse to reflect on and celebrate an incredible year. Jasper Ventures’ employees – hundreds working across Texas, Oklahoma, and New Mexico – experienced many personal and professional accomplishments throughout the year. We wish everyone could have been there to celebrate with us; we appreciate the all work done both in field construction and plant operations.
We recognized many personal milestones of 2019 by honoring employees who welcomed new babies, married, or had children that graduated. We love hearing about all that is going on in our employees’ lives. Please continue to share your life experiences with our Beyond Business team so we can be a part of your celebrations and successes. As always, we shared stories about our values award winners – those who are living out the values of Jasper Ventures in exceptional ways. In the last quarter of 2019, we had almost 30 nominations for these awards and have been excited to see so many employees getting involved in the nominating process. We enjoy hearing how employees are serving one another, being responsive to another department, innovating a process, performing with excellence, displaying integrity, and taking ownership. Thank you for helping us by submitting these stories of success! It is a privilege to spotlight our amazing employees. As a leadership team, our vision is to create unparalleled value for our employees, clients, and communities. Vision is the “why” behind what we do, and this year we brought value in new and unique ways. We reflected on some of those during our time together.

It would be impossible to celebrate all the accomplishments of Jasper Ventures’ employees in 2019, but we did put together a cool graphic to depict some of the achievements of various teams (found on pages 9-12). We closed out the meeting with a surprise announcement: Jasper Ventures was selected as one of the Best Companies to Work for in Texas for 2020 in the medium size category (100 to 499 employees)! This is only the second year we participated, and we were pleasantly surprised by the results. Best Companies to Work for in Texas focuses on eight core areas: leadership and planning, corporate culture and communications, role satisfaction, work environment, relationship with supervisor, training, development and resources, pay and benefits, and overall engagement. We saw improvement in every category over last year. The two largest increases were in relationship with supervisor and pay and benefits. You will hear more about this when we accept our award in April, but 99% of you that took the survey say you are willing to give extra effort to help our organization succeed. That means our employees are living out the value of ownership. We love your dedication because YOU are what makes Jasper Ventures one of the best companies in Texas. It takes each one of us, so THANK YOU for making us the best.

wareh Written by: Jim Newberg I & E Manager To many, it’s just a big building at our Troup facility. But Distribution and Logistics Manager Dave Campbell and Warehouse Foreman Jessica Staples consider the new 30,0000-square-foot warehouse a true blessing. You might think from the building’s size that it’s run by an army of employees. So it comes as a surprise to most to learn that it’s team of just ten people, working hard to manage the large footprint and hundreds of thousands of pieces that flow through the facility each day. It doesn’t surprise anyone, however, that Jessica was awarded a values
award for innovation. Her team must constantly adapt to the changes that come with Jasper Ventures’ growth, and she leads the way in developing creative efficiencies that keep operations running smoothly. The warehouse team receives every piece that flows through the Troup shop. Here’s a little perspective on the process she oversees: the team receives over 8,000 pallets from one vendor alone. Those pallets hold more than 200,000 fittings and valves. The parts are carefully inspected, counted, and received. They are moved to locations in the warehouse until they are ready to be kitted. Once work packages move to the warehouse, the team methodically kits the thousands of parts by area. They store the parts in the staging area and get them ready to move to production. The warehouse is responsible for keeping a steady stream of parts flowing through the production shops and field locations. The warehouse team not only feeds parts to our internal departments, they

house are responsible for the logistics of all pieces moving to our subcontractors. These pieces can include protective coatings, fabricated pipe, and much more. Logistics and transportation are also a large part of the warehouse workload. The team is responsible for ensuring that all pieces move internally but also externally. In 2019, the warehouse handled 893 inbound/outbound loads, including 123 permitted outbound loads. These larger permitted loads are not only difficult but would not be possible without the help of the assembly department. The warehouse is the heart of the Troup facility. Their success relies on cooperation and collaboration within every department and facility. They work
diligently to ensure that every person gets the correct parts on time. Without this dedicated team, Jasper Ventures’ growth, reliability and efficiency would not be possible.

fresh perspectives
Working at Jasper Ventures Written by: Maureen Kaiser Cultural Engagement Specialist
Much has changed over the years as Jasper Ventures has grown from a small operation to a company that employs about 400 people. A new onboarding process welcomes people with a deeper understanding of the heart behind the company. New hire documentation is now completely automated using ADP.
That was a special project because Jasper did not do any of the panel work. Because of Jeremy’s experience with the type of system involved, Jasper needed his expertise to make sure everything would function properly. So he hit the ground running, travelling to the icy north to help successfully complete the project.
While logistical changes have been necessary, the heartbeat of the company remains steady and strong. Jasper Ventures is still driven by the same core values and a vision to treat people well, as gifts from the Lord. Jeremy Allen is an I&E programmer who joined Jasper Ventures in August of 2019. While he was proud to come work for a company with a reputation for quality in the industry, he’s been most encouraged by the atmosphere of support and friendship. “For me, coming to work at JV was an easy experience because I already have a history of working with the current employees from previous experiences. It was kind of like coming to work with friends that you already knew.” Often clad in boots and a Jasper or Vulcan shirt, Jeremy started his career at Jasper doing the Instrument and Electrical work on an MRU in North Dakota, job 422. Construction was 75% complete when Jeremy came on board. 15 1ST QTR 2020
Jeremy Allen Jeremy says everyone was very open and welcoming. To Jeremy, what stands out most about Jasper Ventures is, “the family environment that they’ve created here. The emphasis on people and taking care of them, the Christian-based organization, and being very open. In this day and age, it’s rare.” JasperVenturesInc.com
That welcoming environment is not limited to the I&E offices in Whitehouse. Patrick Valles started about a month after Jeremy in mid-September 2019 as a welder on the Piping Fabrication team in Troup. “I really enjoy the people I’m surrounded by,” Patrick said. “I’m able to learn a lot from these guys, like Milo [who Patrick works directly with in the Pipe Shop]. Right now, I’m going through a first-time home buying experience, and I’m able to open up and talk to people. Milo’s been so helpful. To me, it seems like a big expanded family.”
for failure,” Patrick said. “Here you can do your job without stressing about what’s to come and not come.” Jeremy agrees: “One of the biggest things that I enjoy – and Jim, my manager, has encouraged this – is giving us freedom and not micromanaging us, letting us do our jobs as adults. If we have a problem or issue, we can bring it to him, but otherwise we take care of our project and interface with the people we need to. We have the flexibility and freedom to do our job. We’re treated like professionals.” These new employees say they appreciate the Jasper Ventures’ willingness to invest both in its facilities and its people as the company has grown. “Because the company has grown by leaps and bounds in terms of numbers of employees,” Jeremy said, “the management team has stepped out in commitment to help bring the company to the next level. I can sense there is a realization that we need to grow and change, balanced by reserve and being selective and careful.”
Patrick Valles Patrick also appreciates the company’s value for and commitment to its employees’ families. “Working for a company that appreciates the work that is done and I’m home every night – that’s a true blessing.” Jeremy sees the way Jasper treats its employees as unique. Instead of feeling like a number or a warm body, he feels like he is truly part of something bigger. According to Jeremy, “Here you feel like you matter through little things, like a birthday card and gift.” Another part of Jasper’s culture that stands out to both Jeremy and Patrick is the attitude of professionalism that pervades the company. “Being able to do my job with the confidence of knowing no one is going to be looking over my shoulder, watching JasperVenturesInc.com
Patrick summarized the experience of becoming a new employee at any of the Jasper Ventures companies, noting that external recognition speaks volumes. “It is one of the best places to work in Texas. Wining that title sort of says it all,” Patrick said with a smile. “There is really good teamwork here. I’m glad to be able to work for a company that takes care of its people, not just financially, but also mentally and spiritually. I hope I can retire here. This is where I want to stay.” Jeremy’s role usually begins in the start-up phase of a project, but he says he is gratified seeing the end result, knowing the company has created a gas plant that is serving more than one company. “We’re benefitting a whole global aspect, and knowing that you had a part in that – to help that facility run better, produce better, and operate better. Knowing that our company is benefitting many people in a global aspect, benefitting more people and other industries – keeping families warm – it’s cool knowing you had a part in that.” 1ST QTR 2020 16

This year’s boot recipients were Juan Carlos Garcia Vazquez, Dionico Cadenas, Susan Taylor, Jimmy Forgy, Jeff Gilliland, Dennis Gunn, Henry Keown, Sam Roberts, Larry Stewart, Lance Strickland, Loyd Robertson, and Juan Lopez.
