COMMUNITY PROGRAMS Youth Tour to Washington, D.C.
High Voltage Safety Display
RushShelby Energy along with the Indiana Electric Cooperatives (IEC) sponsors a trip to Washington, D.C. The trip is available to students that have met the requirements to complete their junior year of high school, and plan to return for their senior year. Students living within the RushShelby Energy territory are eligible.
For many years, RushShelby Energy has traveled across it’s 9-county service territory with a trailer equipped with a model electrical distribution system. The demonstrations are performed with live electrical power to educate the public about proper safety precautions around electrical equipment. The demonstration is great for school or civic groups with 50 or more people present.

Camp Kilowatt is a fun and unique camp experience for sixth grade students going into the seventh grade across Indiana. The camp takes place in early June and gives students a chance to learn more about energy while making new friends and enjoying many activities and games.
Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest Deadline to Apply: March 22, 2024
Indiana K-12 students are invited to enter the Cooperative Calendar of Student Art Contest for a chance to illustrate an award-winning wall calendar. Each year, 13 first-place winners and honorable mention winners will have their artwork featured in the calendar and will receive cash prizes. Winners will have their artwork displayed at the IEC Annual Meeting.
Ideal for elementary school students, this program features the cooperative’s “Safety Village,” a model community complete with a working low voltage electrical distribution system. The desktop model is well-suited for use in the classroom.
Operation RoundUp
Over one million dollars has been distributed from the Operation RoundUp program. This program works with your power bill and is “rounded up” to the next highest dollar amount. The extra cents go to a fund administered by a community board to assist with the needs of non-profit organizations throughout the RushShelby Energy service territory community.
