management credit to end

On February 1, 2024, the Energy Management Program is set to expire. The $2.50 (per unit) bill credit will end.

The load management program has been eliminated and the control boxes are no longer being used by Hoosier Energy to shave the peak. We have a program in place to remove the boxes for you or you can choose to remove the box yourself.

After June 1, 2024, the load management boxes will become the member's responsibility.

Please reach out to Jeremy Bohn by June 1, 2024, to dicuss your options and to be placed on the list to have the box or boxes removed.

What is a SEER Rating?

SEER stands for Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio, and it measures the annual energy consumption and efficiency of the unit's cooling ability in typical day-to-day use. The higher the SEER value, the less energy the unit will use.

What is the Difference Between SEER and SEER2?

The main difference between SEER and SEER2 is the testing conditions for each rating system. These differences may seem minimal, but they still produce different data values and warrant a new rating system that aligns more closely with ongoing efforts to reduce overall energy consumption in the United States.

Deadline to apply is December 13, 2024

Electricity is a wonderful and powerful thing. With that power, comes the possibility of danger. Sometimes when electrical work is being done, a member or electrician will pull the meter to ensure there is no electricity flowing through the lines to the home.

Breaking the seal on the meter base is not only illegal, but also very dangerous and can result in serious injury or death. If you are preparing to do work and would like the electricity disconnected, please contact our office and we will dispatch a qualified line technician to safely disconnect the power. With our automated meter reading system, we are immediately alerted when a meter is disconnected. It is illegal under Indiana Code 35-43-5-3 to tamper with your meter. Strict fines will be enforced for anyone not following this code.

If you ever have any questions or concerns about your electric service, please contact our office at 765-544-2600.

DO NOT TAMPER WITH YOUR ELECTRIC METER

Meter tampering can result in electric shock, is illegal and increases electricity rates for other co-op members.

Never break a meter seal.

Never open a meter base.

Never remove a meter or alter an entrance cable in any manner.

If you know or suspect that someone has tampered with their meter, please contact us immediately at 765-544-2600.

Energy Efficiency Tip of the Month

During winter months, ensure your home is well sealed and properly insulated to reduce the need for excessive heating. Seal air leaks around your home and add insulation where needed to save up to 10% on annual energy bills. Install weather stripping on exterior doors and apply caulk around windows. Check attic insulation levels and hire a qualified contractor if additional insulation is needed.
