Dear Riggs Employees, Here is a quick snapshot of how we are doing yearto-date by department compared to 2019. In sales, we are down 28% from our prior year deliveries. In Service, we are flat with last year. In Parts, we are down 13% in volume. In Rental, we are up 10%. In Power, we more than doubled our YTD volume from prior year. In SiTech, we are up 41% in sales volume. Overall, our GP dollars are down year-to-date, but our expenses have also reduced drastically. The net change is positive for Riggs at this time, and we are encouraged by the results. Today, our company is healthy and running well amidst the chaos in our world. Let’s keep up the excellent work!
What a roller coaster we have been on for the last three months. Quarter 2 of 2020 will forever be remembered as one of the most confusing and polarizing times in modern history. The attack of COVID-19, the civil unrest, and the increased political tension has created a confusing world for everyone. These things have likely affected each of you in some way, big or small. Situations like this could pull us apart, but our team has remained resilient and respectful of one another. I cannot thank you enough for that. All that we can control is ourselves, and we must do that well. I remain optimistic that our company and our nation will emerge from these times stronger than before.
Lastly, please continue to protect yourself from the spread of the virus. As the world opens up, the virus has begun to spread more rapidly. Arkansas is currently one of the fastest rising states in the Union. We must continue to do our part to keep others who are vulnerable safe.
In Riggs news, the second quarter has been a time of uncertainty and caution. Coming into April, we were unsure of the effect these outside forces would have on our people and business. Although the future is still unknown, the months of April and May shaped up to be better than expected. This improvement is due not to the economy but to your continued hard work and the implemented cost-cutting measures. We, as a company, have weathered the storm by managing the things within our control. Because of this, we feel much better about the health of our company and hope to continue this streak through the end of 2020. At the time of this letter, June is shaping up to be a solid month as well. Our industry is at work, and we are delivering for our customers. The rest will take care of itself.

Scholar Testimonials My name is Alex Avlos and I received the Riggs Scholarship from 2007-2011. After graduating high school, I moved to St. Petersburg Florida and attended Eckerd College where I obtained a Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science. After college I moved around a little bit and ended up in Dallas Texas where I taught at Art of Peace Montessori. There I was able to teach environmental, science and gardening classes and share my passion for the outdoors with the kids. This year I was offered a job with the Arkansas Natural Resource Commission in the Water Development Division where I get to help rural counties and cities across Arkansas get the new water and wastewater infrastructure that they need. In my free time you can find me on the river, hiking with my dog Ellie or volunteering at Heifer International. I am so thankful for the opportunity to receive the Riggs Scholarship. It has given me the chance to pursue my dreams of helping people and teaching them about the importance of our natural resources and the impacts that we can have on them.
Alex Avlos I graduated from Greenwood High School in 2002 and was so grateful to receive a scholarship from JA Riggs that aided me in attending UA Fort Smith to pursue a degree in Early Childhood Education. I graduated in 2006 and moved to Midland, TX to teach second grade at Pease Communication & Technology Magnet School. I led my team in planning unique lessons and units of study. My favorite one to share was focused on learning about American heroes. I helped organize my coworkers in dressing up and acting as if they were Amelia Earhart, Paul Revere, or Abraham Lincoln, to name a few. It was such a

Together, memorable lesson! Past students and coworkers mention these lessons when I see them today, 10+ years later! We left Midland in 2010 and decided to start our family. I have been blessed to be able to raise my two boys as a stay-at-home mother since their birth. Evan, who is 7, is now in the second grade at a school in Midland. He’s obsessed with all things baseball and loves history. He would have loved our American hero unit! Adam, who is 4, just started his first year of half-day preschool and is our little soccer star. He’s determined to learn to read this year. These two boys have had the advantage of having an educator as a mother! Evidence of my trainings are woven throughout our days from science experiments to art and trips to the library. Our family loves to travel and we do so as often as we can. We try to integrate their interests in our travels from a trip to NASA for my space-obsessed Adam and a trip to Washington, DC for Evan!
I graduated from Henderson State University in the fall of 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Athletic Training. Although sports medicine was my passion at the time, it wasn’t very popular in Umpire, Arkansas.
Now that they are both in school for part of the day, I plan to start volunteering at their school and to pick up some of my own hobbies again, such as sewing and scrapbooking!
So in the summer of 2004, I enrolled in the teaching program at Rich Mountain Community College and began teaching the fall of 2004. I have been teaching ever since, changing areas and schools a few times. Currently I teach 7-8 grade math at Dierks high school and elementary PE at the elementary school.

I’ve taught lots of different areas over the years, teaching every grade level at some point. In 2011, I graduated from Harding with my masters in Educational Leadership, and someday I hope to pursue a career as an elementary principal.
We founded the Share It Forward Foundation with the goal to help our employees and communities in times of need. Thanks to our employees and the company match, we are able to make a positive impact on many lives.
I am married with three children. Our children keep us extremely busy, and we spend a lot of time following the sports they play. I love being outdoors, going hiking, working in my yard and garden. Also I love playing the piano.
