A Great Place To Recruit

BGSU Celebrates 31st Annual Summer Job Fair On March 1, BGSU students had the opportunity to meet with more than 92 recruiters from 46 organizations who were recruiting for part-time, seasonal, internships and full time positions. We appreciate our loyal Summer Job Fair employers and were pleased to welcome six new organizations this year, including Hearthside Foods, Inc., Shining Star Residential Services, LLC, Stepping Stones,

Sunshine, Urban Radio Broadcasting, LLC and Westfield Franklin Park. BGSU’s Summer Job Fair offers employers an opportunity to identify and recruit talented students. Mark your calendar for Wednesday, March 13, 2013, and join us for our annual Summer Job Fair. Details and on-line registration forms will be available in January 2013.

Helping Students, Serving Employers Finding a qualified college student to meet your hiring needs can be challenging – they may not have a significant work history, they lack experience, and for many students, a part-time or seasonal job is “just a paycheck.” However, if you are seeking students with a specific skill set, we can work together to increase the chances that you hire a candidate who can make a significant contribution to your organization. Here are some suggestions.

DON’T FORGET to complete the enclosed JLD Data Collection Form and return it by July 31, 2012. Your information is critical to ensuring continued JLD Services! THANK YOU!

1. Create an engaging job description – one that sounds interesting and provides suggestions as to what types of skills students can develop as the result of their work with you. Help students envision how they can benefit (beyond a paycheck) from their experience with your organization. 2. Take full advantage of our services for employers. Nearly all of our services are free! Post your positions with us, and we’ll make them available on WorkNet – our online job database for students who are seeking part-time and seasonal jobs. Students can access WorkNet 24/7 from their computers, smart phones, and tablets! WorkNet allows students to set their accounts so that they are notified any time we post a job that meets their personalized search criteria. 3. Are you looking for a skill set that is associated with a particular major or career field? We can use WorkNet to help you identify majors and academic programs that are a good match for your position. In addition to posting your job vacancies, we

promote your opportunities to students by working with our contacts in academic departments. BGSU offers more than 200 majors and programs; some are a direct “fit” for certain types of jobs; nursing, accounting, education, etc. Many programs require students to complete coursework and gain knowledge that can be an asset to your organization. Recreation, Tourism, Event Planning, Human Development and Family Studies, Sport Management, Supply Chain Management, Apparel Merchandising and Product Development, Gerontology, and many majors in BGSU’s College of Education and Human Development are a good fit for a variety of summer and part-time positions. Our partnership is an important part of our goal to help our students get the experience they need to be successful graduates in a challenging and dynamic workforce. In turn, we pledge to provide exemplary service to help you staff your organization with talented BGSU students.
