TheNatureofLightexhibitionexpandsonanongoingenquiryintoexploringthesensoryexperienceoflight,place,andbelonginginpainting.Theexhibitionfeaturesanewseriesofworkswhichwereinitiated inMantova,Italy,whereIwasartist-in-residenceforashortperiodin June2025.There,Idyed/paintedsheersilkworkswhileimmersingin thesurroundingcountryside.
Acentralpartofmypracticeistowalkinnaturewhilecarefullycreatinganddocumentingephemeraltextileinstallations—itisanawe-inspiringprocessthathastakenmearoundtheworldandback.The diaphanousworksinNatureofLighthavetracedthenaturalelements ofItaly,Denmark,andAustralia,whilesimultaneouslyinformingand inspiringmypaintingpracticeinthestudio.
Embodiedmemoriesofeachplacearereflectedthroughtranslucent layersofpaint.Ratherthanadepiction,theworksunfoldrecentand distantsensationsthroughgesturalmovement.Earthytonesmerge withNordichuesandasenseoffluidity.Alwaysfollowingthehorizon—andbeyond—anever-presentlineconnectseachwork,andthe notionoflivingin,andin-between,lightandplace.
