Only you and God knew the visions he had for your lives and the joining of Greater Mt. Calvary Baptist Church "50" long years ago. This work has been manifest throughout the community, city, state, nation and internationally. The countless lives you have touched and continue to touch cannot be matched by most Pastors and most churches. Although the journey hasn't been smooth and easy, it has been forthright and productive as evident by this celebration of "50" years. Although time takes a toll on the physical body, it has not stopped you from your obedience to your call from the Lord for Service. Through the aches and the pains you persevere and set the example for your church family and to our family of how to continue on the battlefield for The Lord. On days when any of us "don't feel like it" all we need to do is look at you and be motivated to "get up and go" and be about our Father's business. With your fashion style, gifts, professionalism, compassion, generosity, creativity, love and spiritual walk, it has been an honor to follow your leadership. As a brother, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and cousin we have seen up close how God has been the head of your life. Your wisdom is craved by those who have ever met you or are in your presence. Being the visionary you are stands the reason why 50 years of pastor and people continue to receive God's favor. Cameron's present and absent are so proud and happy for you. We have Joy in seeing how God has blessed you tremendously through your ministry and consequently through our lives. You have set the bar high for all of us to be of service to and for our Lord in all we do in our lives. Truly, only what you do for Christ will last. Reverend Dr. Carl Burkett is the Pastor of the Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Ellisville, Mississippi , which he has pastored for 46 years; and also the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church in Petal, Mississippi, which he has pastored for 36 years. He is and has been married to Mrs. Jessie Rea Burkett for 61 years. To this union, two children were blessed with two children Eric D. Burkett, Sr. and Angela F. Moffett. In 1977, Pastor Carl Burkett received his diploma in English Bible Theology from The Mississippi Baptist Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi. In 1975, he received My Busy Pastor’s Course Certificate from the Mississippi Baptist Seminary in Jackson, Mississippi and on June 12, 2010 he was granted an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity from Lift Bible Crusade College in Ocean Springs, Mississippi.
