Dreamville Festival

RESEARCH

Dreamville is a two-day music festival held in Raleigh, North Carolina. It is presented by North Carolina's own, rapper J. Cole. The festival debuted in 2019, making this year ' s event the second annual occurrence. It features multi-stage music, local culture, food, and art. Inspired by J. Cole's desire to give back to the state he was raised in, the event takes place in Raleigh's most historical Dorthea Dix park which has over 300 acres of beautiful greenspace.

CONCEPT

The title Dreamville makes me think of Alice in Wonderland. How she lies down for a nap and is taken on this magical journey in her dream. I think music can transcend reality in this way as more of an experience that attaches itself to memories, good or bad.

The location for the festival is one of North Carolina's most beautiful parks. There are lots of flowers and greenery which makes me think of the similarities Wizard of Oz has with Alice in Wonderland. I want to play into both storylines and settings for this project, drawing on the angles used in Alice in Wonderland specifically.
