I am so pleased to welcome you to this special Evening of Art Auction at The Assembly Rooms, Bath, and I particularly wanted to take this opportunity to express my most heartfelt thanks for helping to raise vital funds to support The Prince’s Trust in the South West of England.

I know that some of you have supported my Trust for many years now, but for those of you who are unfamiliar with our work I am very keen for you to be aware of the enormous difference your support will make.

When I set up my Trust with my Royal Navy severance pay in 1976, I knew that some young people were slipping between the cracks of society and that something needed to be done to pull them back out.

Since those rather humble beginnings, my Trust has grown into a somewhat large organization which really does change lives. Often, when young people first come to us, their confidence and self-esteem have taken such a battering that they are unable to look anyone in the eye. Through my Trust, they are welcomed and nurtured. They are offered sanctuary, a place of safety and respite from what are often exceptionally hard lives.

My Trust now works with 59,000 young people across the United Kingdom each year, choosing to focus energies and efforts on those young people who, others say, will amount to nothing. We are adamant that everyone can amount to something, given the right support.

My Prince’s Trust changes these lives and you can have no idea how proud I am of these remarkable young people. I need hardly say that I hope you can find a way to make my Trust part of your life because it is only by working together that we can continue to make a real difference.

Events like this are enormously important as they raise crucial funds to help more vulnerable young people.

I am, therefore, immensely grateful to Coutts who have supported this event for a number of years and to the AA as a new sponsor; to The Roper Family Trust; to The Evening of Art Committee, and to the other volunteers who have been instrumental in organizing this event and who have contributed to the success of this splendid occasion. Together, we can change so many more young lives across the United Kingdom.

Dear Supporter, On behalf of The Prince’s Trust South West, it is my great pleasure to welcome you to this fantastic art collection. All of these wonderful pieces have been generously donated for our fourth Evening of Art Auction by some of the country’s most renowned artists. We are hugely grateful to them for making this event possible.

This auction gives you the chance to acquire some truly outstanding art. With your help we will raise significant funds to support disadvantaged young people across the South West.

I would like to thank our sponsors and supporters Coutts & Co, the AA and The Roper Family Trust. As a result of their contribution all of the money raised from this event will go straight towards changing the lives of vulnerable young people. We are also grateful to Nick Oliver for hosting the Live Auction. Furthermore I am very grateful to Emma Sykes of Bonhams who has provided her expertise in valuing all the artwork.

The Trust has supported over one million young people since 1976 and we continue to help more each and every day. Our ambition is to unlock the potential of the next one million young lives, within a decade. As such we are transforming the way we work and the means by which young people can access our services. This summer, we launched Prince’s Trust Online which enables young people to engage with our services and mentors outside of the 9 to 5 and also allows us to reach out to more rurally isolated young people.

Our traditional services will remain our core activity. Indeed last year we supported 60,534 young people across the country including 3,073 in the South West. With your support tonight we can do more.

I am very grateful to the committee of volunteers, Alyson Warhurst, Dani Jefferies-Clarke, Nina Dolan, Richard Neville and Jenny Bower, who have worked so hard over the last year to help plan this event. I would also like to thank those who have provided pro-bono support.

“This was a stunning morning of sun and snow and blue/grey shadows - my favourite subject” Andrew Macara briefly studied Contemporary Art with Leonard Fuller at St Ives School of Painting but considers himself a largely self – taught artist. He is a member of both the Royal Society of British Artists and the New English Club.

Andrew has one of the most distinctive styles of present day contemporary British Artists. He is established as a very collectible contemporary figurative artist and over the years his paintings have proved to be a good British Art Investment.

Lot 2 Carol Symon (British, b. 1949) Paddling in Red Hat Mixed Media Signed bottom right 385mm x 520mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art. £80 - £120 Originally trained in fashion design, Carol changed focus setting up and running her own travel business for 30 years. Having sold that 13 years ago she returned to art and the challenge of painting again. “I’m an artistic adventurer, exploring and experimenting with the infinite choice of media and mixing them in very diverse styles” she says.

The appeal of mastering the different techniques keeps her from the restraints of concentrating on any particular medium. “Landscapes, still life and animals in action, frequently inspire me, but I particularly love to feature people in my pictures.”

Her compositions often infer an under-lying narrative or a sense of fun in the context of an everyday life situation.

She lives in Bath, painting in her garden studio. Over the last 6 years she has been exhibiting in various locations including Winchester, Chichester, Stockbridge, Liphook, Bath, Portsmouth, Norton St Phillip and Frome. In 2016 she won the Vera Skinner Award and the Appleyard Trophy.

Lot 4 Annemarie Blake (Irish) The Reader, 2016 Oil on Board Signed on the front and back 215mm x 255mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £300 - £500 Born in Dublin, currently living in Somerset Annemarie is figurative and landscape contemporary painter.

The Reader is part of a series of studies and drawings of Naomi Rhea who loves books and the joy of reading.

Annemarie was a draughtsman and silkscreen printer, before studying History, Printmaking and Painting in Cork and London. Her work often combines traditional printmaking techniques and painting creating a sense of depth and texture.

Annemarie is currently working on a series of drawings, prints (etching and lithography) and paintings of Glastonbury Festival. Annemarie seeks to keep a real sense of spontaneity in her paintings, in an effort to capture the energy and atmosphere of a moment in time.

Annemarie is part of the Owl Art Collective Gallery - Catherine Hill, Frome, Somerset.

Lot 6 Darren Coffield (b. 1969) Being Pablo Picasso, 2012 Indian Ink on paper, framed Signed bottom right 520mm x 775mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £600 - £800 Darren Coffield was born in London in 1969. He studied at Goldsmiths College, Camberwell School of Art and the Slade School of Art in London where he received his Bachelor of Fine Art in 1993. He has exhibited widely in the company of many leading artists including Damien Hirst, Howard Hodgkin, Patrick Caulfield and Gilbert and George at venues ranging from the Courtauld Institute, Somerset House to Voloshin Museum, Crimea. His work can be found in collections around the world. He is the author of Factual Nonsense: The art and death of Joshua Compston and his new book: Francis Bacon and The Colony Room Club is due to be published in 2017.

He will also be exhibiting his new series of sculptures at Atelier 340 Zero Museum in Belgium next year. Coffield lives and works in London.

Lot 7 Julia Midgley (b. 1948) African Dancers ( BPB. no. 127 ), 2001 Ink, acrylic and watercolour Signed lower right 250mm x 335mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £200 - £300 This is an original drawing made on location whilst Julia Midgley was Artist in Residence at Blackpool Pleasure Beach. This was a Year of The Artist Residency supported by Arts Council England.

African Dancers were performing as part of Variety Club fund raising Day at The Pleasure Beach.

They jumped through hoops to music whilst performing their acrobatic dances.

Julia Midgley is an award winning reportage artist whose most recently completed project was War Art & Surgery. This project recorded with drawing the training of military medical personnel before their deployment and the rehabilitation of the wounded at Headley Court, Surrey, following surgery.

She is currently recording Significant Equine skeletons.

Lot 8 Charles Rodwell (b.1955) Cochin Muse, 2013 Oil on Board Signed on the front and back 290mm x 450mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £300 - £500 Charles is a painter exhibiting regularly from his studio gallery in North Wiltshire and in London. He works in a wide variety of styles based on the disciplines gained whilst studying at the Slade School of Fine Art 1974-1978 with tutors including Patrick George, Jeffry Camp, Phillip Sutton and Sir William Coldstream.

Painting in the landscape and working with the figure has always been central to his work, both of these activities gives endless opportunities to explore styles of drawing and the use of colour.

Charles has travelled extensively and absorbed many influences from time spent in the Far East and India. He teaches small personal groups from his studio in Wiltshire and accompanies groups of artists on trips to India.

A close association with the Sri Lankan charity Senahasa Trust continues following a trip in 2006.

Lot 9 Charlotte Sorapure (b. 1968) Olive Groves, 2013 Tempera and Gouache on Gesson Panel Artists monogram signed bottom left 200mm x 290mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art. £1,500 - £2,000 Trained at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, Charlotte Sorapure is a figurative Artist living and working in Bath. She is represented by Messum’s in London, and Brian Sinfield Gallery in Burford. She has also had solo exhibitions at Quest Gallery and the Victoria art Gallery in Bath. Winner of several prizes, including the Cecil Jospe prize at the New English Art Club and Odin prize at The Royal West of England Academy, she then won the 2012 Holburne Portrait Prize and was commissioned to paint a portrait of the war photographer Don McCullin for their permanent collection.

Charlotte has also exhibited in the U.S.A. and at the Toronto Art Fair in Canada.

Lot 10 Giles Penny (b. 1962) Man in a Gallery, 2012 Signed on reverse 580mm x 740mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £600 - £800 Man in a Gallery shows a snapshot of a man at a private view, he stands by a sculpture and is pondering whether steel forms which vaguely represent plants are actually worthy of calling sculpture, he thinks to himself “why is everyone making this stuff”.

Giles Penny’s Artist’s Statement - “My focus of expression is the human form, which acts as a vehicle to explore the interaction between the physical and abstract worlds.

The resulting form allows the viewer to experience a sense of consciousness, which is transmitted through the work.

I use various media including clay, wax, plaster, wood, and resin to originate sculptural forms, which usually result in a bronze cast.

My time is divided between the practices of sculpture and of two- dimensional media, being either painting, drawing or printmaking.”

Lot 11 James Faure Walker (b. 1948) Large China New, 2008 Archival digital print / Artists Proof Signed bottom right 325mm x 540mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £400 - £600 This is one of a sequence of larger digital works produced in 2008, including ‘Games Box’ and ‘Villa Dora’. While drawn within paint software, it also contains conventionally drawn and painted passages. Since the eighties computer graphics has been central to his work, alongside oil paint and watercolour.

Born in 1948, James Faure Walker studied at St Martins (1966-70) and the Royal College of Art (1970-1972). Before integrating digital methods into his work he had already exhibited widely (the Hayward Annual 1979, a solo exhibition at Manchester’s Whitworth in 1985). He had been one of the founders of Artscribe magazine in 1976, which he edited for eight years. He exhibited eight times at SIGGRAPH in the USA, won the ‘Golden Plotter’ prize at Computerkunst, Gladbeck, Germany in 1998, showed at the DAM Gallery, Berlin, and featured in ‘Digital Pioneers’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum in 2009. His book, ‘Painting the Digital River: How an Artist Learned to Love the Computer’, was published by Prentice Hall (USA) in 2006, and awarded a New England Book Show Award. He was one of the five English artists commissioned to produce a print for the 2010 South African World Cup. Till 2014 he was Reader in Painting and the Computer at Chelsea, University of the Arts. In 2013 he won the Royal Watercolour Society Award. He has thirteen pictures in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum.

Lot 12 Jessica Rosemary Shepherd (b. 1984) Rosa ‘Playboy’, 2011 Watercolour on paper Signed Bottom right 400mm x 290mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £200 - £300 Jessica is a botanical painter. When she paints plants she tries to become them. There is a great deal of observation involved even before her brushes touch the paper. She trained in botany before committing herself fully to painting so that she would understand the processes of plants more comprehensively. Equipped with this scientific knowledge, she is now testing new approaches to her artwork to push the capacity for botanical illustration to bring greater awareness of plants and our interaction with them. She hopes to inspire people to think beyond their experience whilst enriching our current perceptions of botanical illustration, its applications and how it sits within the larger scope of the visual arts. inkyleaves.com

Lot 14 Emma Rose (British) Royal Crescent, 2016 Indian Inks and Acrylics on canvas 400mm x 400mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £400 - £600 Emma is an award winning artist/colourist based near Bath specialising in contemporary, semi-abstract and impressionistic painting with an emphasis on colour and texture. Using Indian Inks and acrylics she produces vibrant and arresting work, whose style is distinctive and original. Skylines - landscape, sky, sea, nature and memory are the inspirational core reflecting often her interest in the Japanese aesthetic of Wabi-Sabi - the process and beauty of ageing which creates irregularity and imperfection.

Emma worked for many years in London, a career spanning theatre, film and photography before leaving for the country idyll of Wellow, near Bath - old home of the Brotherhood of Ruralists, pop-art king Sir Peter Blake and sculptor Peter Watts. She has a permanent gallery space at 78 Walcot Street in Bath, and exhibits three times a year in London - selling original art, limited edition giclée prints and commissions. Recently, at the Independent Awards in Bath she won Best Artist and was voted into to the final of the Society of Woman Painters 2016 at The Mall Galleries near Buckingham Palace in the presence of Princess Michael of Kent. She is an active member of the Bath art scene and works with various charities - this year The Prince’s Trust, RUH/Royal Crescent and Save The Children in London, along with Johnson Beharry VC’s charity.

Lot 15 Kate Davies (b. 1962) The Bath Buns visit Sally Lunns, 2016 4 / 250 Archival Quality Giclee Print from original watercolour Bottom left on original. Bottom right on print.

250mm x 180mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £50 - £70 Kate studied at Bath Academy of Art and has worked as an illustrator, mainly in Children’s Books, ever since.

She did a short spell as an architectural illustrator which she thinks influenced her love of painting buildings.

She started painting local scenes populated by small furry anthropomorphic creatures many years ago, just for fun. Her home village of Colerne was her initial inspiration, but she has ventured as far as Castle Combe, and more recently Bath, where her ‘Bath Buns’ explore this wonderful city and its beautiful architecture.

‘The Bath Buns visit Sally Lunns’ is a gentle watercolour of a regular day in Bath, with the Buns popping in to ‘the oldest house in Bath’ to sample their delicious patisserie!

The starting point of each painting is based on some form of narrative, which inevitably informs the course of painting. However, in the process of painting, it is not a question of making ever more references to the narrative, but a deliberate attempt to escape from it. Therefore the paintings may be observed for what they are rather than what they should mean.

His books include graphic novelisations of The Waste Land, Tristram Shandy and Gulliver’s Travels as well as a memoir, “Stuff”, about clearing out his late parents’ house, which was long-listed for the 2006 Samuel Johnson prize. He is also chairman of the British Cartoonists’ Association and currently a vice-president of the Zoological Society of London. His comic books adaptation of The Communist Manifesto is due for publication in May 2018.

Lot 19 Martin Elphick (British, b.1951) Caryatid (after A Modigliani), 2016 Bronze Resin Signed at bottom right 390mm x 290mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £200 - £300 This relief was inspired by the famous painting (1911?, Musee d’Arte Moderne, Paris) by Amedeo Modigliani of his intimate friend Anna Akhmatova posing as a caryatid. His fascination with caryatids is said to have been triggered by ancient relief carvings, and the series of caryatid studies was intended to be developed as ‘Pillars of Tenderness’ for a public Temple of Beauty.

“I hope that I have preserved the beauty of Modigliani’s line, and gone on to interpret the subtlety of his modeling of form. I decided not to try to emulate the indications of a background against which the figure is set in the painting.

I modeled the piece first in clay, and this, the first of an edition of ten in ‘cold cast bronze’ is cast directly from that original. The casting is set in an oak panel.

I am based near to Bath, and I make both figurative and abstract sculptures in a variety of materials.”

Lot 21 Melissa Scott-Miller (b. 1959) Autumn windows, 2013 Oil on canvas Signed on the back of the painting 750mm x 610mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £1,000 - £1,500 Melissa Scott-Miller was born in London in 1959. She studied at the Slade school of Art 1977-81, and graduated with a first . Also winning the Rodney Byrne scholarship prize for figurative painting, and The Lord Leighton prize in 1979. She then went on to win an Elizabeth Greenshield foundation scholarship, which she used to paint in Venice, Italy. During the 80s and 90s she exhibited at the Acquavella gallery New York, U.S.A and various galleries in London , the Albemarle gallery and the Grosvenor galleries, where she had one person shows. In 1987 she won second prize in the Southbank show at the Royal festival hall. In 1999 she was elected a member of The Royal Society of Portrait Painters and in 2008 a member of The New English Art club. In 2008 she won first prize (£15,000) in the Lynn Painter Stainers prize exhibition. She has also won prizes at the New English Art club and has exhibited 22 times in the Royal Academy summer exhibition and five times in the BP portrait exhibition at the National Gallery. She has also had a one person exhibition with Go-Figurative gallery and Mark Jason gallery. She has always worked in London, painting her surroundings and often including herself and her two children and her dog in many of her London street or back garden scenes.

Melissa Scott-Miller was inspired from an early age by the pre Raphaelites, and painters such as Brueghal and Durer and Rembrandt. Also a great hero to her is Vincent VanGogh. And on the more contemporary side of things Stanley Spencer and Lucien Freud, who she knew well and was taught by at the Slade.

Lot 23 Paul Robinson (b. 1959) The Beachcomber, 2016 Oil on board Signed on the bottom left hand corner 195mm x 245mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £800 - £1,200 Paul Robinson was born in Penrith, Cumbria in 1959, and grew up in the Eden Valley village of Lazonby. He later studied Fine Art at Carlisle College of Art. After moving to London he embarked on a successful career as a freelance illustrator, working for many leading publications such as the Sunday Times and Radio Times.

Wishing to escape the bustle of London, he moved to North Norfolk in 1999, and there he discovered a whole new world to explore; a landscape consisting of an immeasurable expanse of sea and sky.

Often set against the backdrop of the stormy North Sea and the rugged landscape of Cumbria, much of Paul’s work includes his ladies walking their reluctant dogs in the wind, rain and snow, romantic interludes, and bustling towns created from his imagination, based on the eccentric characters he spots on his travels and his familiar childhood surroundings, as well as the beautiful towns and villages dotted along the North Norfolk coast.

Having grown up surrounded by the magnificent Cumbrian Fells, Paul has yet to tire of the beaches and seascape only a brisk stroll away from his home.

The Beachcomber is an example of the fascination of the rock pools that lure visitors to the beach, each hoping to find that elusive hidden treasure.

Her practice involves working from site-specific landscapes, followed by extended studiobased work. Her images are a response to the ephemeral nature of landscape and question our emotional and physical relationship to an evolving environment. She exhibits widely and her work is held in public and private collections internationally. She has written for Tate and has advised and spoken on print processes for various individuals and institutions including The Art Fund, The Dulwich Picture Gallery and National Portrait Gallery.

She has been awarded numerous prizes and international residencies, most recently The Venice Travel Residency from Rabley Drawing Centre. Born in Wales in 1956, Sara Lee studied Fine Art at Ravensbourne and Print at Central Schools of Art. She lives and works in London. Her work is exhibited by Rabley Drawing Centre, Wiltshire.

He studied Fine Art at Trent Polytechnic and at the Royal College of Art in London where he specialised in Printmaking.

Although he views himself first and always as a fine artist, his intricate papercut work adapts itself readily to many other mediums including ceramics, textiles, homewares and even jewellery.

Over the years, he has collaborated with the likes of Paul Smith, Liberty of London, Tatty Devine and Vogue.

His work often consists of whimsical figures paired with sentimental, grave, honest and occasionally humorous pieces of writing which he admits are autobiographical.

Rob has exhibited widely across the UK and internationally and has written and illustrated several books, ‘This Is For You’, ‘A Sky Full Of Kindness’ and most recently a trilogy, ‘The Invisible Kingdom’, ‘The Kingdom Revealed’ and ‘The Invincible Kingdom’.

Lot 33 Robin Gray (b. 1942) Lost Bones, 2012 Acrylic and Waxoil on Canvas Signed bottom left 400mm x 500mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £400 - £600 Robin Gray studied at Beckenham School of Art. He started using Acrylic paint in 1968 and has continued to do so. Always interested in natural history, geology and exploring the natural world, his early work soon became known as organic abstract. This rewarding area of study has stayed with him all his life and along with a highly successful teaching career has fuelled his painting world. Along with this painting style he has always drawn meticulous studies from observation which have also been well received.

The painting ‘Old Bones’ comes from a large series of works which turned out to be related to an extensive study of fossils and many trips to Lyme Regis with his family . The series of paintings was named by his daughter, Louisa, who said they all contained what looked like old bones and fossils. The sort they were looking for in Lyme Regis.

I am naturally drawn to shapes of artefacts and objects from other cultures and other times but that remain timeless.

Erosion and change through time and nature are recorded in a piece. My main aim in my work is not to compete with nature, but for the work to evolve within the environment. The minerals, like iron and copper that I introduce into the ceramic surface have their own affect on the clay. This erosion process continues with sanding so that the texture and cracks do not interrupt the surface but become an organic, integral part of the patina. Each individual piece takes on its own developing surface, its own history and its own aesthetic. I am merely the maker.”

He has work in the private collection of HM The Queen as well as more than 40 pictures in the collection of HRH The Prince of Wales, and also in the Royal Collection Windsor, The Vatican, Chatsworth, The National Trust, Oxford and Cambridge Universities, Eton College, Blarney Castle, The MCC, Shell International, Fondazione Fremantle, The RAC Club, The Honourable Society of the Middle Temple and many others.

A long list of distinguished portrait sitters has included HM The Queen, The 11th Duke and Duchess of Devonshire commissioned by HRH The Prince of Wales, Archbishops of Canterbury and York, Nelson Mandela, Roger Waters, Sir Roger Penrose, Prince Dimitri Oblensky, The Rt Hon The Lord Judge as Lord Chief Justice.

He accompanied HRH The Prince of Wales to South Africa, Swaziland & Lesotho as travelling artist. Other commissions for The Prince include two series of pictures of Highgrove and its gardens, and a series of HMY Britannia. He has painted frescoes in two churches in Italy.

Lot 37 Sally Muir (British, b. 1954) Lurcher, 2016 Lithograph Signed bottom right 280mm x 315mm Limited edition 5/20 Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £250 - £315 ‘Lurcher’ is a Lithograph of a Spanish rescue dog, who Sally met when working with the rescue charity Galgos Del Sol in Murcia in Spain.

Sally Muir studied at Bath School of Art and Design and achieved a First Class (Hons) Degree in 2003.

She paints portraits, landscapes and –last but not least – Dogs! She works with a variety of media, including oil, watercolour, pen and ink, print and as per Cone, charcoal. In 2010 she won the Holburne Portrait Prize for a painting of her son. Sally was commissioned by the Holburne Museum Bath, to paint a portrait of Bill Bailey with Dog. Her work is exhibited in many public and private collections.

Lot 39 Sir Peter Blake (b. 1932) Dazzle, 2016 Edition A/R Silkscreen with glaze Signed by the artist bottom right hand corner 600mm x 400mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £600 - £800 ‘Dazzle’ by Godfather of pop art Sir Peter Blake continues the artist’s longstanding relationship with the City of Liverpool, which began when he won the John Moores prize for painting in 1961, and continued with his work for The Beatles. Most recently, in 2015, Blake was commissioned by Tate Liverpool and Liverpool Biennial to ‘dazzle’ a Mersey ferry, to commemorate the dazzle ships of World War I, the resulting design Everybody Razzle Dazzle covers the ferry Snowdrop with his distinctive geometric pop patterns, turning her into a mobile artwork.

Blake’s most iconic pop art symbols, including a star, target and rainbows, also populate Dazzle. The use of these designs has been central to Blake’s work since the early 1960s.

Sir Peter said: “This print references both my early work and my recent Dazzle commission. I am proud to help Liverpool Biennial continue its impressive record of working with artists to create ambitious and challenging new work.”

Knighted in 2002, an honorary doctor of the Royal College of Art, and with his work represented in major collections throughout the world, Peter Blake truly is a grandee of British art. Educated at Glasgow School of Art and Byam Shaw School of Art from 1998-2001, contemporary artist Tim Benson has received recognition with his election as Vice President of the Royal Institute of Oil Painters. As a practised figurative artist Tim not only creates a distinguishable likeness of a subject but moreover evokes the sitter’s character and mood. He is never satisfied with simple representation, rather concentrating on bringing to his work an emotive and often visceral quality.

Tim regularly exhibits in solo and group exhibitions around the UK. He displays fine art paintings that stand on their own as collectible works of art and accordingly has established a large following and collector base. In addition to his fine art pieces, he accepts more formal portrait and figurative commissions in oil or charcoal.

She has recently returned from living in New York for two years where she completed a Masters in Fine Art at the New York Academy of Art. Since 2002 she has exhibited widely in exhibitions in the UK and elsewhere, including the Royal Society of Portrait Painters, the Threadneedle Art Prize, the Lynn Painter Stainers Prize, and the New English Art Club Annual Exhibitions. In 2010 she was elected to membership of the New English Art Club after being awarded the NEAC's Cecil Jospe Prize in 2009.

Both her figure paintings and other work are done from preparatory drawings and direct from life, and the discipline of drawing is key to her work, in order to discover the real subject and underpin the composition of a painting. Particularly in her still lives and architectural paintings, she finds the ostensible subject is less important in itself, but provides the starting point to explore and describe the spatial, geometric, and colour relationships of the image. I had been reading a lot of J G Ballard’s short stories at the time, and he has ended up being an incredibly accurate dystopian soothsayer for the state we’re in as a society and a world in environmental and moral meltdown. We seem to have lost our way.

After a week of dull work in the office, here a couple are dressed up in their Onesies, about to go out for a heavy party at the other end of Town. In true Ballardian fashion, it’s as if this bacchic weekend life in the suburbs, makes the mundanity of contemporary life in middle England somehow bearable.

Pretty much every woodcut I make is made in an edition variable. In the process of making the work I change colours and marks mid-way through the print on each and every image from the edition. This means the making of the work is more like a series of paintings or monotypes in the studio, with the matrix of the cut wood keeping the prints as an edition.” tomhammick.com

She was Director of the School of British Art in the 1980’s She has exhibited widely in the UK, exhibited with the St. Ives Group, Beaux Art Gallery London, Contemporary Art Society, ASB Gallery, Royal College of Art, Leighton House, Soane Museum, Islington Art Fair, Mauger Modern, Victoria Gallery. Her works are held in numerous collections here and abroad. Last year the Chelsea Arts committee elected her for a solo exhibition. Alongside her oil paintings, Nina’s drawings have been shown at the Royal West of England Academy.

“Through the Night” is an oil painting on gesso panel. Her paintings are like statements of belief, acts of witness to the glory of the world. Although reminiscent of things seen, they are by no means illustrative, being composed of expressive brush marks and touches of strong colour. Her contemporary jewel like paintings are steeped in historical knowledge of different mediums she makes for textures.

Live Lot 1 Daisy Sims-Hilditch (b.1991) Track to Mary’s, Panzano, 2016 Oil Painting signed bottom right corner 235mm x 330mm Provenance: Donated by the Artist to The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art £700 - £1,000 Born in 1991 Daisy was brought up in Wiltshire and it was there that she began drawing and painting as a child.

She developed a keen interest in plein air painting from an early age after visiting the Musee de L’orangerie in Paris as a teenager. She left feeling totally captivated by the paintings of the impressionists, in particular Claude Monet and Alfred Sisley.

Daisy has since painted around the world in locations such as Morocco and Venice, creating a large body of work. Daisy says, “I get excited by the changing light, whether it be stormy skies in Cornwall or light at the crack of dawn in Florence”.

In her early years Daisy’s portrait of her grandfather was in the top 20 of the Saatchi Gallery and Daily Telegraph’s School Art Prize and was exhibited in the Saatchi Gallery.

Having spent the past four years undertaking a rigorous training in sight-size portraiture at the Charles H Cecil studios in Florence, Daisy has developed a passionate appreciation for painting from life.

Daisy’s work has now been recognised by a number of the top artists awards in the Country. As well as being selected for the BP Awards 2016 with her portrait of ‘Alessandra’ being exhibiting at the National Portrait Gallery. In the same year, Daisy’s painting of ‘Franzisca’ was admitted into the Royal Institute of Painters Annual Exhibition which, at the time, recorded the highest ever level of submissions. She continues to have her works recognised in 2017 having been awarded the Sara Stuart’s “Golden Buzzer prize” exhibiting at the Fine Art Commissions “Fresh Paint” Exhibition and Exhibiting at The Royal Society of Women artists annual exhibition at The Mall Galleries. Recently Daisy’s donation of a Daisy Sims-Hilditch portrait commission to Philip Mould’s Charity ‘Plant Life’ received the highest bid of the evening!

Philip Mould a leading specialist in British Art and Old Masters recently described Daisy as “an extremely versatile painter in the landscape and portrait traditions working both in plein air as the Impressionists before her and in the studio on ‘sight-size’ portraits of remarkable naturalism and elegance. The Prince of Wales has painted several views of Beinn a’ Bhùird, this one was painted in April before the snow on the high ground had melted.

The lithograph is one of a limited edition of 20 Artists Proofs.

The printing of the image has been supervised by The Prince of Wales who has signed each numbered copy; on completion of the printing all the plates have been cancelled.

Four of them in all: three in the category of Best Animated Short Film (Creature Comforts, The Wrong Trousers and A Close Shave) and one more recently in the category of Best Animated Feature Film for The Curse Of The Were-Rabbit. Anne Denholm is one of Britain’s leading young harpists, and is currently Official Harpist to HRH The Prince of Wales. Anne underwent a British musical upbringing, studying at the Purcell School, Newnham College Cambridge University and the Royal Academy of Music (RAM) in London.

She received her Master’s from the RAM with distinction, studying under Karen Vaughan and graduating with the Renata Scheffel-Stein Harp Prize and a Regency Award for notable achievement. Whilst at the RAM, she was the first ever harpist to win the historic RAM Club Prize.

Anne is increasingly in demand as an interpreter and performer of new music; she has been recording and premiering new works for solo harp since 2006, and in 2013-14 worked with Sally Beamish on a video project of her work for solo harp, ‘Awuya’. She is a founding member of contemporary experimental quartet, The Hermes Experiment, and also greatly enjoys working with the Birmingham Contemporary Music Group.

Anne freelances with orchestras across England including the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Northern Ballet Sinfonia and the Orchestre Révolutionnaire et Romantique. She is also Principal Harpist with Ensemble Cymru, a group championing chamber music throughout Wales. Conditions of Sale for The Prince’s Trust Evening of Art on Thursday 30th November, 2017.

The items offered in this Sale and listed in this catalogue (each a “Lot” and together the “Lots”) will be sold

by Prince’s Trust Trading Limited, a company registered in England and Wales under number 3161821.

Prince’s Trust Trading Limited is a company which has covenanted to pay its net profits each year to The Prince’s Trust, a charity registered with the Charity Commission under number 1079675.

These terms govern the contract for sale (the “Contract for Sale”) of any Lot by Prince’s Trust Trading Limited (the “Seller”) to the Purchaser (as defined below) in the auction on 30th November 2017 (the “Auction”).

Any questions in relation to the auction should be directed to the Seller and not to the auctioneer, who serves merely as auctioneer for the Seller in conducting the sale (the “Auctioneer”). The Sale is subject to the following terms and conditions which govern the sale of all the Lots offered (as amended by any posted notices or oral announcements during the auction) (the “Conditions of Sale”): 1. a) The Seller assumes no risk, liability or responsibility for the authenticity or the authorship of any Lot (that is, the identity of the creator or the period, culture, source or origin, as the case may be, with which the creation of any property is identified herein); b) The Lots are sold with all faults and imperfections and errors of description; c) The Seller does not make or give and does not agree to make or give any representation of fact, undertaking, obligation, guarantee, contractual promise or warranty or undertake any duty of care of any kind or nature, expressed or implied, in relation to any description (which shall include inter alia physical condition, size, quality, rarity, importance, genuineness, attribution, authenticity or provenance) of any Lot or any estimate in relation to it, nor in relation to satisfactory quality of the Lot or its fitness for purpose.

No statement made in the auction catalogue, notice or description, at any time before, during or after the Sale, in any Sale invoice or elsewhere, will be deemed to be such a representation of fact, undertaking, obligation, guarantee, contractual promise or warranty.

2. Any Lot may be withdrawn by the Seller at any time before the Sale.

3. Unless otherwise announced by the Auctioneer at the time of the Sale, all bids are per lot as numbered in the catalogue.

4. All bidders must be capable of forming legally binding relations under English law. By bidding in the Auction, any bidder is warranting that they are legally entitled to do so.

5. The Seller reserves the right to reject a bid from any bidder. Lots may be offered subject to a reserve price.

In the event of any dispute between bidders, the Auctioneer will have sole and final discretion either to determine the successful bidder or to re-offer and resell the Lot in dispute. If any dispute arises after the Sale, the Sale records of the Seller will be conclusive in all respects.

6. If the Auctioneer determines that any opening bid is not commensurate with the value of the Lot, he may reject the same and withdraw the Lot from Sale, and if, having acknowledged an opening bid, he decides that any advance thereafter is insufficient, he may reject the advance.

7. The sale of any Lot is complete and the Contract for Sale is made at either the fall of the Auctioneer’s hammer in the case of the live auction, or at the announced closing time of the silent auction. Thereupon, the highest bidder acknowledged by the Auctioneer for any Lot is the purchaser (the “Purchaser”) of that Lot and is contractually bound to: a) assume the risk and responsibility of the Lot; b) sign a confirmation of purchase thereof; and c) pay the full amount of his highest bid for the Lot within three working days (the “Purchase Price”).

8. Title to the Lot remains in and is retained by the Seller until the Purchase Price and all other sums payable by the Purchaser to the Seller have been paid in full, and received in cleared funds by the Seller. The Seller is entitled to withhold possession of the Lot from the Purchaser until this time. The Seller is only required to hold the Lot for 90 days from the date of the auction, after which, if the Purchaser has not collected or arranged for collection of the Lot, the Seller may, at its sole discretion, send the Lot to external storage for the account and at the risk and expense of the Purchaser. Any charges associated with the transport and storage if the Lot are to be borne by the Purchaser and will be added to the Purchase Price.

9. Risk in the Lot passes to the Purchaser at the fall of the Auctioneer’s hammer in respect of the Lot. The Seller will thereafter not be responsible for the Lot and the Purchaser will indemnify the Seller and keep the Seller fully indemnified from and against all claims, proceedings, costs, expenses and losses arising in respect of any injury, loss and damage caused to the Lot after the fall of the Auctioneer’s hammer until the Purchaser obtains full title to it.

10. All lots must be claimed within 12 months of the Sale, unless otherwise noted.

11. If the foregoing conditions and other applicable conditions are not complied with, without prejudice to any other remedies available to the Seller by law, which for the avoidance of doubt includes the right to take legal proceedings against the Purchaser for any sum due under the Contract for Sale and/or damages for breach of contract, the Seller, at its sole discretion, is entitled to exercise one or more of the following rights: a) to terminate the Contract for Sale immediately for breach of contract; b) to retain possession of the Lot; c) to be paid interest on any monies due at the annual rate 5% per annum above the base rate of National Westminster Bank Plc from time to time to be calculated on a daily basis; d) to retain as liquidated damages all payments made by the purchaser; e) to resell the Lot by auction, private treaty or any other means to any third party, on three days’ written notice of intention to sell to the Purchaser, following which the Purchaser will be liable to Seller for payment of any shortfall between the Purchase Price and the sum of the price achieved upon resale all other charges due hereunder and any incidental damages. The Seller is under no obligation to achieve an optimum or fair market value for the Lot upon resale.

12. The Purchaser will indemnify the Seller against all legal and other costs of enforcement, all losses and other expenses and costs incurred by the Seller (whether or not court proceedings will have been issued) as a result of the Seller taking any of the steps under paragraph 11.

13. Payments for purchases must be made in pound sterling (unless otherwise noted) and in any one of the following forms: cash, cheque (backed by cheque guarantee card) or major credit cards.

14. In no circumstances will the Purchaser be able to rescind the Contract of Sale.

15. Subject to paragraph 17, in no circumstances will the Seller be required to refund any amount paid in respect of any lot to the Purchaser.

16. The Purchaser will be wholly responsible for any removal, storage, shipping, delivery costs, other charges and expenses incurred by the Seller in connection with the Lot and for complying with all import or export regulations in connection with the Lot. 17. If the Seller is prevented from performing its obligations under the Contract for Sale by circumstances beyond its control or if performance of its obligations would by reason of such circumstances give rise to a significantly increased financial cost to it, the Seller will not, for as long as such circumstances prevail, be required to perform such obligations. In such circumstances, the Seller will not be deemed to be in breach of the Contract of Sale, or be liable for failure to fulfill any of its duties there under and will only be liable to refund the Purchaser such sum that is equal to the Bid Amount (where this has been fully paid by the Purchaser) less any costs incurred by the Seller in connection with the Lot. 18. References in these Conditions of Sale to the singular will include references to the plural (and vice-versa) and reference to any one gender will include reference to other genders.

19. These Conditions of Sale, as well as the Purchaser’s and the Seller’s, respective rights and obligations hereunder, will be governed by and construed and enforced in accordance with the laws of England and Wales.

20. By bidding at an auction, whether present in person or by agent, commission bid, telephone or other means, the bidder will be deemed to have agreed to these Conditions of Sale and to have consented to the exclusive jurisdiction of Courts of England and Wales. These Conditions of Sale and the documents referred to herein constitute the entire agreement between each bidder in the Auction and the Seller.
