Delancey Real Estate’s Commitment to Legacy and Innovation
East Village is an award-winning neighbourhood situated at the former London 2012 Olympic Athletes’ Village. Adopting groundbreaking new approaches, Delancey Real Estate set about trying to raise the bar for the UK construction industry. It did this through
working alongside partners to help transform the Athletes’ Village into a new neighbourhood, which now has 3,824 new homes and a thriving community incorporating 25 acres of mature parkland, new parks and green spaces.
Working closely alongside local and national stakeholders, Delancey Real Estate played an instrumental
role in delivering a post-Olympics legacy, delivering an innovative investment strategy for residential property in the UK’s capital city.
Collaborating closely with Mace, the main contractor, Delancey Real Estate explored and implemented innovative and alternative ways to improve the project programme, reducing product wastage, controlling quality and generating innovation in modern construction methods.
Building on the legacy of the original Olympic plots, the 26 and 30-storey twin towers of Victory Plaza utilised the first rising factory system for construction in the UK, incorporating a six-storey ‘jump factory’ constructed around the towers – effectively creating an indoor construction site to reduce safety risks for workers whilst simultaneously reducing noise pollution for local residents.
