AN INTRODUCTION TO SNOW CAMP

JAMIE RITBLAT
Snow Camp was created with the aim of introducing disadvantaged people aged between 13 and 25-years-old to the exciting world of snow sports. In addition to giving young people the chance to complete courses, the charity also provides mental health support where necessary.
In February 2022, Snow Camp ran a fundraising event in Crans-Montana, Switzerland. Over the course of two action-packed days, participants completed a series of winter sports challenges to raise vital funding for Snow Camp. Activities included a laser biathlon, a team distance challenge, parallel slalom racing, ski orienteering and a snow-shoe relay. In total, 14 teams and 60 participants took part, competing in five events and raising more than £50,000. Jamie Ritblat’s Delancey team were the highest fundraisers, bringing in almost £21,000 for the charity.
Speaking at the event, 20-year-old Elisha Davenport from Liverpool said that Snow Camp had changed her life. Getting in with the wrong crowd and failing her GCSEs, her life was going down the wrong track until she discovered the charity via her local youth club. After being involved with Snow Camp for more than four years, she was about to take her ski instructor course.
