Welcome

14 years now the TOC sale has been staged in Saskatoon and has become a source of top end Black and Red Angus genetics from a group of breeders committed to put functional, profitable cattle up for auction that will move a program forward. That commitment has earned the respect from breeders coast to coast and across the line as well. So not only will there be an excellent set of genetics on offer but you will also part of the camaraderie of the single biggest reason business happens, it’s a people business and there’s no two ways about that. The TOC is not only an Angus event but it’s a social event where breeders gather to enjoy themselves, get a little Christmas shopping done that just happens to have a sale smack dab in the middle. Going through the catalogues again this year you will see success stories on the genetics coming out of this sale that have gone on and done bigger and better things for their new buyer. New sale date this year as the sale has been moved to 1pm on Saturday but you are still more then welcome to come appraise the cattle Friday afternoon, enjoy some hospitality and attend the sale Saturday afternoon. Should you have any questions regarding the offering always feel welcome to contact any of the consignors or ourselves at Castlerock Marketing and we would be more then happy to assist you! See you sale day!

Erica 9K is an excellent example of the Red Six Mile Wick 60H prodigy. This is the Second female we are offering off of him, all the rest are being retained for replacements. 9K is Dark Red, Flashy and eye appealing! Her dam 51C, stems from our Erica line (originally Black breeding). The outcross pedigree combined with the Howe Twenty x 28Y, is truly a strong maternal combination. 51C also raised a Sale feature in our Bull Sale this spring. 9K will make an excellent show prospect or replacement female.

Sonji 3K is a heifer that is from one of the highest producing and fertile cow families we own. 3K is a heifer that is big bodied, soft made with that unmistakable maternal look. 3K has some of the most revered paternal siblings in the breed and she, herself, has the earning potential to do the same. The Resource 137E cattle have been highly sought after and he is doing a tremendous job throughout the industry. 3K is a heifer that we feel has the credentials to follow her Dam’s footsteps and become a very sound investment.

If you like cattle dark cherry red, nice structured, and bound to make a good cow prospect 272 is the one for you. We only thought it was fitting to bring her back to the TOC as her dam is a graduate of this very sale. Her dam, 27C is a good footed, big bodied cow who has an ideal udder, and 272’s teat placement makes me think she will follow in her footsteps. This is the rookie calf crop from our young Arrow herd bull and we could not be more pleased with both the bulls and females from this young sire. Toss in 272’s gentle demeanour and we think a junior could have a little fun as well!

Red Fraser Doll 217K is Jack’s first consignment to any of the female sales we attend and is a great one to represent his small herd. Its quite rare these days to have a female in a sale with Indeed that close up on a pedigree. We bought a package of 4 embryos through this sale from Brylor and we ended up with 2 bulls and on heifer! Those 2 brothers were both used at home and left us a tremendous group of calves. Doll 908G is a sister to our popular Eliminator son that we sold to Lines Red Angus at Swift Current last year. Doll 14D is one of only a handful of Red Carrier offspring sired by the Wiwa Creek Rush Lake bull that sold for a nice dollar a few years ago and went on to do a great job at Stauffer Ranches. This heifer calf has several breed greats in her pedigree from both the Red and the Black side of the breed. Jack really doesn’t want to sell this heifer…. REALLY doesn’t…. but he needs to…. And Shane had his pick.

When touring through our cow herd, a common name on my tag appears; Soo-Line Kodiak 127Y. That sire left us with so many hard working, fault free cows that we’ve built our cow herd around. Patricia 15B is one of those cows that is hard to fault. She has produced 4 daughters, 3 which are working in our herd and this beautiful Firebrand daughter 36K. This heifer is the type that you can start a new cow family on. She’s long spined, clean in the front, and moves out effortlessly. Each day this girl looks better and better and has the temperment that is easy to work with. The Touch of Class sale always has top notch heifer calves available, and I believe this one fits the bill.

At the T of C 2020 we purchased a pick of the heifer calves at J & S Angus with our good friends at Brewer Acres. We went up and toured the herd with Jason in March. As we went through his solid pen of replacements, we had it narrowed down to 3 we felt fit us. When we went to check out the dams, the scale tipped in favor of Pride Dolly 36H. Her dam had recently calved and looked stunning. Dolly 509C had a super udder, great feet and was a wonderful Angus female. The Pride Dolly cows were Jason’s first Angus cow family purchased from the Sisson Bros. This turned out to be a very good purchases for Jason. The grand sire to this girl, is the Element bull. He was the best bull Jason felt he could find that spring especially with the Forever Lady cow family in this pedigree. Dolly 14 has a wonderful personality, lovely head, deep powerful core. She is halter broke, responds well to the cane. We believe she will make a competitive jr project and functional cow.

On paper she is very unique as her sire the outcross Valleyhills Replay 70E bull has done a great job across multiple herds siring calving ease, growth and cattle with some do-ability. 57J is an absolute head turner has been admired as one of the top heifers in the group since a calf. She has the eye appeal, length of body and is very stout. With her powerful design and do-ability she is the kind that has the ability to crank out a herdbull. The Roosevelt daughters are extremely productive young cows in our herd, with great udders and lots of milk. Her maternal sister by Slowburn is a knockout as well. The coupon she is carrying is quite unique being out of outcross bull from Jeff Fraser. The Regal calves were extremely popular this past spring and he is a curve bender, with his spread from birth to yearling being very impressive.

His daughter are excellent milkers and 5J will be no exception. On the maternal side of 5J you’ll find 20/20 Tiger 8C another female maker here for us over the years. This female has mother cow written all over her! And with bulls like Ambush 10Y and Soo Line Motive in her pedigree there is two big reasons why mother cow screams out in this female. Her mother is a Touch Of Class graduate herself and has been DNA tested not to be carrying a red gene. The motive daughter has beautiful udder quality and has done nothing but crank out excellent daughters. We had the misfortune of a broken leg on the Duplicate bull we purchased from the Switzers, but he did everything we asked for in his short breeding time here. 207’21 carries a service to Lorenz Endurance. Here is a more moderate framed heifer with a lot to like. She is the only daughter we have offered for sale out of Trendspotter 9004 and we likely won’t part with another as we lost him too soon due to injury. She’s super sound in her movement with good feet under her. Deep sided, loads of muscle and a elegant front end. Her dam is a top producing young cow, with another heifer right at the top of the pen which is no surprise as the grand-dam 31u is still in production raising top end calves at nearly 15 years of age. A full sister to 2G produced a tremendous Rainfall son that ratioed 111 at weaning and was a part of our pen of 3 in Edam at the Fall Fair this year. This cow family has done a ton for us and we are confident this heifer will be a sound, hardworking female for her new owners. AI may 2nd to Square B Atlantis. Pasture exposed to Haynes Trendspotter 28j (KH28j) May 14August 5th. Preg check 85 days Aug 5th (we will cover the cost of DNA test).

This Thunder bred heifer shouldn’t be leaving the farm. When I told Castlerock he could have this heifer being as organized as I usually am I had no idea she was a Shake That…..well too late now lol. Same cow family as the Triple L Shake That 20B that sold to Blairs Ag and then sold as a feature lot with her calf .Gold-Bar ended up with the cow and was on display at the Masterpiece Sale where she impressed the big crowd of breeders that attended. Perfect udders , good footed , feminine front ends and just plain good producers are the common traits of any Shake That.

Topsy cow family top and bottom of this very good bred heifers pedigree! The Topsy 19’08 is the dam of the Jackson bull we raised and sold in our 2016 bull sale to Bear Creek Angus of Maple Creek Sask and what a job he has done there, if you attended the Sask Tour this summer you would have seen for yourself have Jackson has worked for them. Not only the impressive long yearling bull pen but the Jackson daughters with big honking calves at their sides. He was the buzz word of the Weiss families fantastic stop! Topsy 19’08 is here and will calve for her 14th time this spring! The mother of this bred heifer is a beautiful young cow with a beautiful udder quality! This heifer carries the AI service to HF Roper 27F, he might be one of the most underrated Canadian bulls available study what he has done and is doing he doesn’t make very many mistakes! Our very good friend Clarence Hookenson picked the dam of this bred heifer as his pick in out Summer Celebration Sale held in October of 2020. Clarence was 99 years young at the time he bought that bred heifer, this is the coupon she was carrying. He always had an eye and always picked them well! Nolan suggested we use KG Justified on our heifers, turned out to be a very nice choice, they are small at birth with extreme vigor. the bulls in this springs bull sale were very popular with our commercial customers. All having low birth, a masculine look, big scrotal and good footed. This KG Justified daughter is extremely easy fleshing. Justified is one of the top most used bulls in the US and his rare semen is selling in frozen genetic sales for $500 and up. We just sold a maternal sister to 18’21 in the Masterpiece Sale for $4500 to Wooden Spoke Land & Cattle watch for that very good sister to walk tall in the show ring.

Have a look here! This Coleman Bravo daughter is one to feast your eyes on. Beautiful and elegant front end, moves like a cat, and stands on a ideal set of feet. The grandam, South Border Dyna 56X, was a great purchase. 56X is a powerful cow, still raising one of our good heifer calves this year. 22J was the first calf out of South Dakota daughter that worked hard in our driest conditions. Dyna 22J has a lot of Bravo’s best attributes, matched with our beloved Dyna cow family. I believe it’s a win win. She’ll look good either on a halter or walking the pasture.

I envision this powerful bred to go out and raise someone a herd bull. M’Brook Lass 68J is a big barreled, long spined, proud fronted bred heifer right off the top of our pen. Looking through her pedigree, her granddam 49A is still in production and the first Autumn Dew prefix cow to be recognized as an elite dam. The M’Brook Lass family is a prominent one in our herd and it is always hard to let them go. Her sire, DFCC Firestorm, was selected for his base width, level top, and powerful genetics, while keeping the frame in tact. She is carrying something special inside of her, mated to the $80,000 Ellingson Badlands bull. This one could be a quick ROI!

314A was the focal point when we purchased a package of cows from Mike and Sandi Gray in the fall of 2018. Every visitor who sees her stops to appreciate her and she is the most asked about cow at the farm. In terms of phenotype to me she is an ideal cow and a foundation breeding piece. Most importantly her production record speaks for itself with two very productive daughters in our herd, a $16000 herd bull for McAleer Ranching at Unity, Sk, and a Seneca bull calf in the pen that is a front runner to lead off our upcoming bull sale. Replicating her genetics as much as possible in the coming years is at the top of the priority list for us. It is only suiting that someone has the opportunity in adding to the next chapter of her story. Selling right to one flush to be done in the spring/summer of 2023 at agreed upon location. Guarantee of 6 #1 embryos with no limit. Access to our semen inventory at no added expense if buyer so chooses.

One of the stoutest Seneca sons produced. If you are looking for the same body design as Seneca but want a bit more frame, Common Sense is a great choice. His mother works her tail off and is by the Code Red Bull. The Code red daughters we have seen have a way of raising high sellers. Great Angus character with high testosterone and athleticism. With his first calf crop receiving unmatched appraisal and amongst crowd favorites. Common Sense G933 will be a household name in the Red Angus circles looking forward. This will be the only semen sold for the 2023 breeding season in Canada.

22’11 is the last direct daughter of Forever Lady 9136 in captivity and she’s just weaned off maybe her best work yet in a bull calf. That says a lot as her sons / grandsons have averaged $11,500 and were standouts in the bull pen last spring. The last time we sold embryos on 22’11, 3 different packages sired by different bulls all resulted in a son going into a purebred operation or were retained for herdsire duties as well as a daughter to go into their herd. Timeless genetics from a cow family that just doesn’t miss the mark and that’s no accident. Exciting times ahead in the Red Angus world as a flush to one of the breed greats has left an exciting set of calves already. Thanks Jeff Fraser!
