Six Mile Ranch Ltd. is a family-owned and operated cattle ranch located in the rolling hills near Fir Mountain, Saskatchewan, along the Montana border. We have been using Red Angus genetics since 1967 and expanded to Black Angus in 2005. In the fall of 2021, we endeavoured into the Simmental breed by purchasing a few elite females. One elite Charolais donor was recently acquired which has become the start of a small Charolais herd. The ranch was founded with our motto that still holds true today –
“Producing sound, maternal cattle that are born easy with the will to live, the ability to grow and the quality to sell.”
The ranch currently runs around 700 breeding females on grass each year. This is comprised of Purebred Red Angus females, Purebred Black Angus females, Purebred Simmental Females, Purebred Charolais Females, Quality Recipient Cows and a Small Commercial Cowherd. We currently operate on over 11,000 acres of land and are truly committed to agriculture.
Here at Six Mile, our program has always been, and will always be, focused on producing the best females we can. We pay close attention to structure, soundness and performance in our herd. We demand that our mother cows be easy keeping, fertile, sound uddered and sound footed to excel in our grassland conditions. We spare no expense to bring the best genetic sires into our highly-maternal herd. We strive to produce herd bulls that represent fresh, breed-leading genetics that fit the mold for the commercial and purebred cattlemen of today.
