It is with great pride that we at Castlerock Marketing present to you the 51st edition of the Masterpiece Sale. This will be the fourth year hosting this event at Gold-Bar Livestock and hats off to Sarah, Paul, Kaycee and Saige for being such gracious hosts. This sale venue has received many accolades for the layout and the setting of which it is extremely comfortable. The sale has the vibe of a summer tour, looking at cattle displayed on a grass paddock and to date we’ve been blessed with terrific weather. BUT….. most of all what makes this sale a success is the consignors that have ventured out to try this new sale layout that is littered with cattle of the utmost quality from across three provinces.

Sale Facility:

Gold-Bar Livestock, Caron, SK, 2.3km south of Caron, Sk on Grid 643 Watch for Signs

Sale Headquarters:

Inn & Suites 155 Thatcher Drive W, Moose Jaw, Sk 306.692.2100

When selecting cattle for sales we are aiming for the best, more importantly we are looking for cattle with the structure and type to make good cows down the line. We are all playing the long game in this world and when the ultimate goal is to provide commercial producers with quality bulls that are backed by high quality cows. As a good friend and breeder first stated, if breeding cattle can be like playing baseball, hitting singles will keep you in the game. Tony Gwynn made a career out of consistency. We have a few first time consignors with decades in the business, we have first time consignors that are getting their feet wet in the industry and want to showcase what they have at home in front of a larger audience. In the perfect world people would come to the farm or ranch to see the cattle in their setting, sometimes you have to take the cattle to the people and show them what they will find at home. The Masterpiece sale has been a great opportunity for breeders to display their best for decades with many new breeders getting their start right here at this very sale.

The cattle will all have a video which will be posted late Thursday afternoon to see them in the flesh! Watch the website for the videos as it will be updated regularly! The Castlerock staff will be onsite a few days in advance, feel welcome to reach out to us with any and all questions you might have.

Join us for the sale at 5pm with supper and hospitality to follow immediately after the sale!

See you sale day!

We are o ering the rare opportunity to come pick from the heart of our Flying K herd. Choose from any female on the ranch with over 500 head (cows, bred heifers, or heifer calves) to select from. Our herd was established in 1972 and very few females have been sold at public auction. Don’t miss your chance.

21N might be one of the most intriguing exciting females we have ever parted with. Ms Envious 19U, this heifers great grandmother was purchased in the 80’s as a sucked down two year heifer in Moose Creeks production sale where they had purchased her from East Fork ranch. When she come to Moose Jaw she did the nothing but propel our program forward. She was ushed numerous times where we sold a number of embryos and she also started to build a sound uddered strong footed cow family. is heifers grandmother was a beautiful cow as well she was shown numerous times as a two year old and three old with calf at foot. e mother of 21N really made her debut at the tour in Radville, Sk where we put her on display with her Boss heifer calf. We got a number of compliments that day. 282Y was ushed 5 times a er calving averaging 20 embryos and always bred back on rst service never ever le open until she was 12 when she got to crippled up to raise natural calf. We are using a brother to this heifer in our program where he has weaned his second set of calves. We are stacking this heifers mother on both the top and bottom sides of our pedigrees. And of course I don’t think her sire needs a lot written up on him. You would have to be under a rock if you haven’t heard of him. is female is no accident she is bred to work. 21N will be entered in Agribition. is proli c cow family is responsible for 136 registered progeny between the dam, granddam and great granddam

Here’s a stylish, multi-functional heifer that’s worth a longer look. Tibbie 56N is bold ribbed, deep sided, and carries a lovely disposition that makes her a pleasure to work with. Halter broke and quiet natured, she has been an eye-catcher all summer. Her dam was selected as a replacement heifer out of the Anderson program and has proven herself with ease of eshing, a neat udder, and raising a tremendous rst calf. On the sire side, we couldn’t be more impressed with what our walking Stark bull has contributed— his rst set of bulls were our top sellers this spring. Tibbie is the kind of heifer that blends maternal strength with performance, o ering long-term value to any program.

I have never allowed a 19Z daughter or granddaughter to leave the place. When Mark picked 23N and asked if he could have her for the Masterpiece my rst reaction was a hard NO. But then upon further re ection, I thought “why not”. She is an excellent female with all the attributes a future All-Star brood cow needs. I am not going to bother listing them all, su ce it to say I think she will improve the average wherever she ends up. Bid with con dence on this lot.

Soxro 96N is a unique female that I’m proud to o er as a rst-time consignor to this prestigious sale. is ashy heifer o ers depth, plenty of body and hip shape, and true turn to her rib right out of the top of her spine. She’s athletic on the go, and sets down on a big correct foot. Soxro 96N is extremely attractive and angular. is female has many greats from the Lines Red Angus program on the top and bottom side of her pedigree. Boyd’s cattle are built to thrive in the tough southwest SK grazing environment. I selected her dam a few years back and she has been a fertile and hard working producer. Last October I sold the maternal sister to 96N in a sale in Texas where she was the high seller. at heifer has gone on to have a decorated show career down south, capturing division and class titles at TX State Show and Houston Livestock Show. 96N could handle a halter as easily as her sister has. As a bonus she is very gentle, good natured, and well broke. 96N would be suitable for a showman of any size to handle if they chose to.

Heifer Calf

Any heifer coming from our program named Lassie is guaranteed to have a production record behind her and is full of promise for the future. Check back through her maternal record and you’ll nd cow a er cow that’s lived well past 10 and raised top-end calves every year. 719E herself has never missed the mark, and this heifer calf by Judge could be her best calf to date. Go back through the top side of her pedigree and again you see guarantees for a productive cow. Judge daughters are producing in the top end of our herd right now, and every single daughter he has produced has an udder you’d love your whole herd to have. 560N has the makeup to show o well on the end of the halter in a ring, but her story will be in the decade or two a er where she makes you money year in and year out.

On behalf of the Saskatchewan Angus board, I am very pleased to welcome you to evaluate another great lineup in the long running Masterpiece sale. Thank you once again to Castlerock Marketing for the commitment to making this sale not just a sale but an event. Thank you as well to the Gold Bar crew for welcoming us to use their great facilities! Feel free to join us at the Saskatchewan Angus annual meeting before the sale as well. Let your voice be heard. Great cattle, great people great times. See you there!

Heifer Calf

We have pulled out a genetic gem in a maternal sister to Slowburn 102H which was 275F’s rst calf. ere has been nothing quiet about her production along the way, we have two full sisters to Slowburn in herd, sons at Wolf Creek and Handhills colony and this spring 275F knocked it out of the park again with Cartel 139M who was highly sought a er and now calls U2Q home. is heifer shares a lot of the power that 275F has passed on yet carries a great skull and dimension to her, a power cow in the making!

A pretty sharp heifer that sports some elegance in her head and body type with a wedge design to her that takes no imagination to wonder what she will look like as a cow. Sired by the 11K bull which went to the United States to Ross Knott and Ben Cooksley. We were able to put up a little semen on him before he le and this is exactly hoped he would breed as a type in the females. Plenty of potential to this heifer calf that shows some power and class combined.

Lot 7
Dam Maternal Brother TED 139M

210N is the rst daughter out of Windy Willows Stunner Erica 52G whose bull calves always rise to the top of the pen. Two sons are working at Deer Hill Ridge Angus in Fiske, SK. 210N is deep bodied, wide made while still striking you with a feminine, eye appealing look. We know 210N’s future will be bright as your next big-time producer!

ere is no doubt that we are committed to selling our best at the Masterpiece Sale! Kaycee and Saige showed Princess with great success this summer both at side of her dam and in the heifer calf division. Sired by our herdsire, Freyburn Temptation 97L (HF Tiger x U2 Tempation) she is pretty hard to fault and will mature into an awesome cow. Owned with Sheidaghan Anghus.

KEYS JEAN 11N 11

is Stellp ug Ho man RiseAbove daughter puts together calving ease, performance and style. 11N is an easy eshing heifer who is stout and well put together. Her maternal pedigree is stacked with Playbook, Rainfall and Innovation in the immediate background. We think she has the potential to be a great one! Parent Veri ed. Started on Halter.

Here is a heifer who has a ton of style and catches your eye whenever you go into the pen. When she was 2 months old I told Kendra that she would be on the fall show string and of course this is the one Shane selected so I let him have her because it’s our rst time consigning to the Masterpiece sale. She has a ton of length, body shape and muscling. She is a really sweet heifer with a pretty head. Her mother has a tidy udder with small teats. Lots of good DNA in the pedigree too. Breed her however you want. She is entered into Manitoba Ag Ex and we would be happy to show her for her new owners if they wish.

125N o ers the kind of structure, power and balance that builds cow families. Out of a 3-year-old Franchise daughter from the Perrot family, this heifer brings depth of rib, soundness, and longevity to the table. Whether you’re looking for a replacement female or a con dence builder for your favourite junior member, Blackbird ts the bill.

She’s entered in Manitoba Ag-Ex; take her home or send her back for the trip to Brandon.

Her Dam, 52K is a feminine, sound-uddered, Justi ed daughter that did a heck of a job raising this heifer calf. Grand Dam, 53Y raised 11 calves and another of her daughters is working on her tenth calf. 9N’s Sire is 37K, a Crescent Creek Rainmaker son who is a docile, powerful breeder from the Eula line of ush females three generations deep! 9N is a paternal halfsister to our bred consignment, Lot 36 – 109M.

Lot 14

Abound Lassie 511N is one of those heifers who unintentionally keeps grabbing our attention. is young female is fancy, long bodied, full of style and has a great disposition to go along with her good looks. When her dam raises a calf like this on her rst crack, you know there are some maternal powerhouses in her background. Lassie 511N is from the rst calf crop of our walking bull Playbook 46L. A bull that is very structurally sound with good feet and a frame score that keeps him in the heifer pasture. In addition, he has an exciting group of progeny on the ground and Abound Lassie 511N is just the rst to be showcased!

ABOUND LASSIE 511N 16

is female comes from a very strong, generations deep cow family. 72N stems from the Augusta cow family and they tend to sire bulls, not females so they are a bit rare. Her dam is young and productive, her rst calf led our bull sale catalogue and ended up at Ra er 7 ranch and last year’s calf, a heifer is a top replacement female. Granddam 072Y was sold this spring, she had 12 calves and 3 of her 4 daughters were retained and are working here. Great grandam, 72R was here for 15 years. e sire side we believe is our new herd sire Peak Dot Brutus 2011K, he is in the top 2% for WW and 5% for YW and his dam an elite female. e other possible sire is our Bravo son, at almost 7 years old his feet are stellar, moves like a cat, his daughters are excellent, very consistent and exceptional udders. is is his last crop of calves here as he has too many daughters but he is still out breeding at his new home and is still sound. DNA for 72N is at the lab and will be

Here’s a SAV Magnum daughter out of a rst calf heifer. Magnum has proven to be an excellent choice to maintain a modest birthweight yet keep some frame in the cattle. He is an outcross sire that has been used heavily across the world. Mia is an easy eshing female that will make a powerful cow in the future. Her dam being by our long standing herdsire purchased from Hollinger Land and Cattle, Grit is the next step in providing a maternal base next level for our herd. As always, the Youngdale cattle represent soundness and structure and this Mia family might not be the largest but they are productive.

Rise Above had his rst set of calves born in Canada this spring and he has not disappointed one bit! Long, correct with the right lines to her, this heifer calf is the right kind! Bit of a di erent pedigree twist as there hasn’t been of the sire side available in Canada and the Jet Black bull has proven to be a great asset in keeping spine length and a real classy look to them. e Queen family has been a mainstay at Bell Angus for years and heifers of this quality will continue the tradition.

6M is a broody, moderate-framed heifer with strong maternal character and structural integrity, everything we’ve come to expect from the Atalanta cow family. She’s the kind that quietly gets it done: fertile, consistent, and built to last, with generations of cows behind her that raise big-time calves well into their teens, regardless of the mating. Her dam and maternal grand dam are two workhorse females we rely on heavily, which makes it hard to part with her. We feel 6M is shaping up to follow in those same dependable footsteps. A er years of herd building, we decided it’s nally time to let a heifer sell. If we’re going to sell one, it had better be a good one. We let Castlerock pick from the entire heifer pen. eir pick didn’t surprise us at all. Miss Blackcap 8M came to us as an embryo purchased from Hamilton Farms. e length of spine in this heifer is incredible. Being bred to our young Du Automatic herd sire means she’s also carrying a calf with great potential.

Elegant yet powerful, the terms best describing Lady 44M. A heifer that should go onto raise a lucky someone one heck of a herdbull! Lady is a product of Deuce 724K, purchased as the co-high selling black bull of the day, who has produced exactly what we had hoped from him. e sire has a great set of feet under him with added middle and my ideal skull shape to him. He ran with the heifers his rst season and still managed to put quite a few replacements back into the keeper pen. Lady’s dam is an easy doing Double F Firestorm daughter that did a heck of a job on her rst try with this one. Lady is halter broke and has a quiet disposition to her. Bred early to Ellingson’s Badlands. We have used a lot of Badlands, which every new calf crop we like them more and more. With milking daughters in herd now, I’m an even bigger fan!

109M is a deep, thick and well rounded female from a cow-line with strong maternal traits and longevity – a great breeder in the making. She is our 2nd 37K daughter consigned to this sale (check out 9N, Lot 15). 37K was a high-seller and is co-owned with his breeders at Crescent Creek Angus. Her Resistol 3710B Dam, 172J was lost in a feed bunk wreck – she was an attractive beauty with a desirable udder and foot structure (her 1st calf is raising the right kind of a bull for our 2026 bull sale). Coincidently 109M’s maternal sister 159E, raised the ‘Pick of the Heifer Calves” we consigned to the 2022 Masterpiece Sale.
