Jamie Primrose is a highly collectable, best-selling Edinburgh artist, who has achieved outstanding success and critical acclaim. Following many sell-out exhibitions of his original artworks (in Edinburgh and London) since 2003, the prominent painter originally launched his exclusive debut collection of limited editions in 2007, to mark his 10th solo exhibition at The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh.
Every year since then he has been adding new prints to this gorgeous suite, giving our lovely Clients more choice across many destinations, which Primrose loves to paint.
Now this is a beautiful collection of over 100 limited editions, allowing you to gift his sought-after stunning work affordably with excellent value for money - unframed prices start at just £350. In 2023 Jamie presented three highly successful retrospective original artwork collections at The Dundas Street Gallery, Edinburgh to mark his 20th Anniversary where his gorgeous prints were also showcased there.
If you are looking for that elusive present for a loved one, friend, family member or colleague – a luxurious art print gift may be the answer. Ideal for occasions – for forthcoming special birthdays, anniversaries, weddings, retirements, housewarmings, graduations or other milestones all year round, or as a showcase artwork to beautifully finish off and enhance your own home. An exclusive limited edition print by an acclaimed artist is a personal, thoughtful and memorable choice – which will be treasured and enjoyed for many years to come.
Do you have a favourite location, which Jamie paints perhaps? If your loved one, family member, friend of colleague (you are gifting) has a favourite location nearby where they live, a special vista from a holiday, a destination with fond memories where they studied or worked in the past – perhaps Jamie has captured these special views in one of his sought-after artworks.
Whether you are looking for a favourite atmospheric vista of Edinburgh, Glasgow, London, Venice, a romantic cityscape of Europe, a soothing and tranquil Scottish seascape (from the East and West coasts) or the perfect print to match a colour scheme, the Jamie Primrose collection offers you both rich colour and striking black and white prints to suit.
Each Jamie Primrose limited edition is individually made to order using the giclee print process on the highest quality Hahnemuele fine art paper. For exclusivity, each one is produced in limited editions of 195, and comes with a ‘Certificate of Authenticity’ as a guarantee. In order to ensure the closest possible reproduction to his originals, each print is not only signed and numbered, but also proofed to perfection by the artist himself – a personal touch to ensure outstanding quality, finest detail and depth of colour matching to the original.
This timeless series of monochrome prints includes vast vistas over The Old Town with spires galore and close up, expertly detailed views of historic Edinburgh Castle, The Royal Mile, St. Giles Cathedral, Ramsay Gardens, The Grassmarket and Victoria Street. These are perfect for lovers of traditional, timeless or architectural elements of Edinburgh, or those with fond memories of iconic or historic parts of the city. Suites of our black and white prints are often found in designer homes following a monochrome décor/theme.
We also have a range of black and white prints in The New Town (St. Stephen’s Street/Church on Howe Street, The Edinburgh Academy…where Jamie went to school in the 1980’s) & The Shore, Leith.
An impressive series of colourful and characterful Victoria Street nocturnes, followed by icy, blue shades of wintry skies overlooking the city – with contrasts in The Old and New Town from the traditional Grassmarket to shimmering Inverleith (Pond/Place), The Stockbridge Colonies and Leith. This also includes Jamie’s latest new shimmering Harlaw Reservoir and Arthur’s Seat views in the snow. Perfect if certain parts of town are familiar and cooler tones will enhance any colour scheme.
A gorgeous suite of seasonal Southside vistas of the Scottish capital: from soft pink Spring cherry blossom, rich emerald autumnal hues, glistening snow and uplifting, sparkling light through the trees in The Meadows (around Edinburgh University) to shimmering reflections in Polwarth nearby. Ideal if you’re a Southsider, love the natural aspects and green spaces within the city, or if someone has fond memories of The Meadows – present or past glorious Edinburgh University days perhaps (by the library, playing sports, relaxing in the sun).
A breathtaking selection of vast and vivid skylines overlooking the city from Arthur’s Seat, Calton Hill and looking towards The Pentlands – with sweeping fiery panoramic skies behind the city’s bold, iconic and majestic silhouette. Vibrant, iconic prints to add glowing warmth to light, neutral décor or a dark furniture scheme.
.

Jamie Primrose is a highly collectable and acclaimed contemporary Scottish artist, having created over 40 highly successful new solo collections in Edinburgh and London since 2003, with past sell-out exhibitions to his name.
Born in 1972 and brought up in Trinity, Jamie attended The Edinburgh Academy (1977-1990), where he won a clutch of awards. At 17, he gave up a place to study at the prestigious Goldsmiths in London (where the focus was on conceptual art), instead opting for a more traditional drawing and painting degree at Newcastle University (BA Hons Fine Art 1990-94).
Remarkably, he then travelled the world, lived in Australia and then worked in London – without lifting a paintbrush for almost a decade. His roles included Senior Travel Consultant for Trailfinders and more creative roles such as a Senior Account Manager at Getty Images and in Creative Acquisitions at Digital Vision Picture Library.
In 2003, a trip to Central and South America (with stunning vast landscapes) was the catalyst, which inspired Primrose to return home to the Scottish capital to become a professional artist. This was the beginning of two decades of prolific work – Edinburgh’s unique clear light a key source of inspiration, then as now. He has since then achieved outstanding success, chosen as one of Scotland on Sunday’s ‘Rising Stars’ and shortlisted for the prestigious Jolomo Award in 2007, for his Scottish landscape paintings. The talented artist’s sought-after work can now be seen in many exclusive collections across the UK, Europe, North America, The Middle East and Australia and he has attracted an ever-growing UK and international clientele, receiving critical acclaim.
In 2013, Jamie celebrated his 10th Anniversary as an acclaimed painter working in the Scottish capital for a decade at the vast Dovecot Studios, Edinburgh. This was a major stunning showcase of over 120+ original artworks across the North and South Galleries, with impressive success.
In 2023, Jamie celebrated his 20th Anniversary with three retrospective exhibitions at The Dundas Street Gallery including his first ever Fringe showcase ‘Visions of Edinburgh’. Each collection featured a different theme – his fascination for the ephemeral nature of light never wavering, as he highlighted luminosity and atmosphere in his acclaimed work.

“Thank you very much for helping my husband organise my Christmas present. What a lovely surprise I had on Christmas morning! I’ve always wanted a print of the canal, as I walk or run along the path regularly and it’s such a lovely spot. We’ve found the perfect place to hang it in the hall so I can admire it every time I pass.”
“Just wanted to say a huge thank you to Jamie for coming round with the print. That was so kind of you. We totally love it. Super excited to have bought it, it's so stunning and will be a treasured piece of art forever.”
“It was a tough choice picking just one - they're all beautiful and evoke many happy memories for me. I went to Edinburgh Uni and walked across the meadows every day for several years. Now that I'm far away from Scotland down south, Jamie's print will take pride of place in my living room. Please pass on my appreciation again.”
“Thank you so much Jamie and Mari for the amazing, beautiful print. I completely love it and can’t stop looking at it.”
“Our print looks so stunning and it’s going to be treasured, loved and be a beautiful, gorgeous memory forever for us. I have admired Jamie’s art for so long, so it feels really exciting to be owning a piece of it.”
“My thanks once again, for having come to my house with my print and also fixing the one taken to a different spot upstairs. I do like the canal scene I bought and with the white frame I think it shows it off well.”
“Our daughter in Sydney is truly delighted with the print we bought her and asked that we should let you know.”
“Just to say thanks to Jamie for bringing my print to the house last week. That was much appreciated. It's great having a new picture to enjoy – it’s really lovely.”
“Thank you for making all the arrangements with my mother. Many thanks also to Jamie for so kindly delivering the lovely print in person. My mother had her birthday yesterday and we are all really grateful to you both for providing the print so quickly. Many thanks again.”
