FBJSL Mission Statement:

Fort Bend Junior Service League is an organization of women committed to promoting volunteerism, to developing the potential of women and to improving the Fort Bend County community through the effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. Our purpose is exclusively educational and charitable as well as providing an atmosphere of friendliness, goodwill and camaraderie for all members.

In celebration of our 20th anniversary, the Sugar Plum Market is thrilled to present Honorary Co-Chairs Amy West-Becker, Lizz Sansone, and KK West. These women were among the visionary leaders that created this charitable event through their dedication, volunteer service, and creativity. Their efforts paved the way for tremendous growth in the Market’s size and overall success. “Fort Bend County and our residents are always so supportive of our fundraising efforts,” said Lizz Sansone, FBJSL Charter Member, Past President, and former Sugar Plum Market Co-Chair. “The FBJSL’s Sugar Plum Market has always been a pioneer in raising money for the area. In a sense, the League really kicked off community fundraising in this immediate area.” Throughout the years, one thing that has remained the same is the Market’s commitment to giving back to Fort Bend County. “Great success begins with small steps but a big vision. We were so highly motivated and excited, and knew the first year was pivotal for future success,” said Amy West-Becker, founding Sugar Plum Market Co-Chair. To date, the Sugar Plum Market has raised $3.3 Million dollars for dozens of worthy nonprofit agencies in our community. Those achievements would not be possible without the determination and commitment of Sansone, West-Becker, and West. “Lizz, Amy, and I are delighted to be Honorary Chairs,” said KK West, FBJSL Past President and founding Sugar Plum Market Co-Chair. “One of the original goals was to create a charitable fundraiser that would benefit our community, and we have all worked really hard at it while having fun. It truly takes a village to successfully make it happen.” As we reflect on the past 20 years of the Sugar Plum Market, the Co-Chairs and committee are grateful for these ladies and the many volunteers who followed in their footsteps. They are the heart of the Sugar Plum Market. We thank them for their service and their continued support. This program generously underwritten and printed by Pamela Printing.

We honor the commitment, service, and creativity of the many talented women who have contributed to the legacy and success of the Sugar Plum Market.

DEDICATED CHILDREN’S EMERGENCY CARE

YOU HAVE A CHOICE IN EMERGENCY CARE You can’t keep emergencies from happening, but Children’s Memorial Hermann at Memorial Hermann Sugar Land can make it a better experience. Our ER is specifically designed for kids, and the affiliated emergency medicine physicians, pediatricians, nurses and staff understand the emergency medical care children need. Our child-friendly equipment is suited – and sized – just for kids, and Child Life specialists help families cope with the unfamiliar and make kids feel more comfortable.

Visit childrens.memorialhermann.org/ER to see how we’re caring for kids in your community. 17500 West Grand Parkway South Sugar Land, TX 77479

Women Making a

Difference

Lizz Sansone, KK West, and Amy West Becker are Honorary Chairs for the event. It was their vision that brought the Market to life so many years ago. UpClose Magazine is proud to support The Fort Bend Junior Service League. In the summer of 2000, a small group of women decided to form a Service Organization to serve those in Fort Bend County who need help the most. Since that time they have volunteered hundreds of thousands of hours! FBJSL has truly made a profoundly positive impact on our community!

We’re Growing... and We’re Inviting You to Join Us!

SIRE-Therapeutic Horsemanship has purchased 40 acres in Fort Bend County thus achieving our strategic goal of two premier training centers; one in Spring and the newest one in Fulshear. SIRE will hold a grand opening celebration on Saturday, Oct. 23, at the new site, in conjunction with SIRE’s iconic annual fundraiser Saddle Up for SIRE.

What does this mean for Fort Bend County? With our new equine center, we can serve MORE RIDERS through our equine-assisted activities and learning programs. To successfully achieve this, we will need MORE VOLUNTEERS to partner with us inside and outside the arena a and we will need MORE HORSES to accommodate increased riders.

To learn more about how you can volunteer, ride, or donate to SIRE visit sirehouston.org or call 281-356-7588.
