The 46th annual Runnin
O’ The Green returns to Jamestown on Saturday, March 15.
The event supports Elks Camp Grassick and cancer patients in the area. Last year, more than 1,200 people registered for the event, paying a $10 fee.
Larry Knoblich, founder of the event, said the Run has raised more than $500,000 since 2008 for Elks Camp Grassick and cancer patients. He said the Run had raised
more before 2008 but the books with the figures were lost when the Elks moved its location.
“I appreciate people showing up for this and registering,” he said.
Elks Camp Grassick is a summer camp for children and adults with physical and intellectual disabilities and is located near Dawson, North Dakota.
Knoblich said the Run began in 1979 with 23 participants.
“We were all basically coaches and teachers and just out to have a good time,” he said.
Knoblich said he didn’t

expect the Run to grow as large as it has when the event began in 1979.
“It wasn’t meant to be that way,” he said.
The 46th annual Runnin O’ The Green begins at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 15, at Frontier Fort. The pub crawl stops at 10 bars along the way.
Participants will go down the hill just north of Frontier Fort and 17th Street Southeast. Participants then go through McElroy Park and head to the next stop — Buff Bar & Lounge — before heading to Main Street.
Participating bars include the Frontier Fort, Buff Bar & Lounge, The Club 1883, Elks Lodge #995, Corner Bar, Jonny B’s Brickhouse, Fred’s Den, The Wooly’s, All Vet’s Club and Shady’s Restaurant and Lounge.
It costs $10 to register for the event, which all goes toward Elks Camp Grassick and cancer patients.
Early registration at Wildside Creations for $30 gets individuals a T-shirt and a $10 donation to Camp Grassick. Wildside Creations makes the T-shirts for the event and donates a large chunk of the sales

to the Run.
Knoblich said Wildside Creations Owner Megan Fossum donates more money than she makes selling the T-shirts for the Run.
“It’s fantastic what she does,” he said. He said the business that registers the most participants is Cork & Barrel Liquors. Cork & Barrel Liquors registers around 400 participants every year for the Run, he said. According to the

Saturday Knoblich encouraged individuals who don’t participate in the Run to register for the event as well. He also encouraged individuals who just visit the Run establishments in downtown Jamestown to register for the event as well.
“Sign up and you will feel a lot better that you helped someone out,” he said.
