Obituary A butterfly lights beside us like a sunbeam and for a brief moment its glory and beauty belong to our world. But then it flies again and although we wish it could have stayed, we feel so blessed to have seen it. Born in Homer Louisiana on July 14, 1936, Neressie was the 9th of 10 children born to Clayborn & Ida Webb. As a teenager Neressie moved to Southern California with her parents and began her studies at Thomas Jefferson High School in Los Angeles. After marriage and raising her 8 children she decided to take on the workforce. She found her calling in the healthcare field as a patient service representative at Cedars Sinai Medical Center. That passion led her to an even more fulfilling career providing convalescent care to the elderly until she retired. In 2000 she graduated from Dorsey High Adult School, received her certificate in nursing, then went on to receive her AA degree in business from West L.A. College in Los Angeles and founded her own home-based business, Quality Board and Care. Later she would become foster mom to several children from the foster care system. Neressie had many joys but who knew that the things she enjoyed most all began with the letter C: Church, Cooking, Crafts, Casino, Chipotle and Comedy. She has always been very active in the church and she gladly served whenever and wherever she was needed. Praising the Lord was her vow. In fact she always answered her phone by saying "Praise The Lord." Cooking may have started out as a daily chore but ended up being a labor of love. Fried chicken, candied yams and collard greens come to mind. Anybody remember those delicious oatmeal, raisin cookies? Crafting was more than a hobby it was her most effective therapy. Her dolls, aprons, t-shirts, candles, pillows, lamp shades and baskets were all gifted to family and friends. The occasional Casino trip was her favorite fun filled get away especially with a bus full of lively seniors singing and laughing all the way. One taste of a Chipotle bowl and it was GOODBYE...well goodbye nothing, she just added it to her favorite eats. Neressie was a VERY funny lady and while she brought laughter to everyone around her there are a few things that made her grandkids laugh out loud. like: heavens to murgatroyd (when she was surprised), oh fiddlesticks! (meaning nonsense!) one time her grandson hurt his ear with a toy cap gun and in comforting him she said "eat this watermelon you'll feel better." Neressie passed peacefully from this life on November 3rd 2015. She will be met by her parents Clayborn and Ida Webb; her 4 sisters and 5 brothers; her 2 sons Raymond and Alfred and daughter Karyn. She leaves to cherish her memory, her son Herbert, her daughters Cladice, Rhonda, Vanessa and Pearl; her beloved grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren and her nieces, nephews and friends. She is greatly missed by all.

What I Want My Family To Know I want you all to know that I loved you very, very much. I want you to forgive each other for any hurt that may have been caused over the years. I have known all of you for all of your lives and I have thought about you millions of times since the day you were born. I want you to think about me often and remember all the good times we shared over these wonderful years. I want you to look at my dying as a time for your own personal growth. I want you to know that I did not fear death itself because it is NOT the end but a new beginning for me.
I'm Free Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free. I'm following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard him call. I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day. To laugh, to love, to work or play. Task left undone must stay that way.
I found that place at the close of day. If my parting as left a void, then fill it with remembered joy.
A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss. Ah yes, these things, I too will miss, Be not burdened with times of sorrow. I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow.
My life's been full, I savored much. Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch. Perhaps my time seems all too brief. Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me. God wanted me now, He set me free.
