Japanese mental health awareness poster
from My portfolio
I changed the direction this piece was taking after seeing the Wish You Were Here album cover by Pink Floyd (on the right) and added the fire onto one of the characters. This fire has a double meaning, one is supposed to represent what it can feel like to have a mental health issue. People may seem fine on the outside, but on the inside they’re burning. And the other is how people can refrain from opening up about mental health out of fear of being “burned” by people in society or judged for their actions.

This design was created in my second introductory project in the first year of my Graphics course when we had to redesign a famous novel cover. However I wanted to take it a little further and create a novel cover for Kill Bill, a novel which no longer exists giving me a challenge which I could never turn down, seen as Kill Bill is one of my favourite movies.
