James Billiter Studio "Walls of Cincinnati" frameshop catalog

JAMES BILLITER is a native Cincinnatian who studied Graphic Design and Art History at UC’s DAAP program. A lifelong fanatic of Architecture, Billiter meticulously captures his favorite façades — then creates Graphic Design posters that emulate the eras of each building’s construction. Typically he creates limited-edition serigraphs exploiting the size and use of metallic inks that screenprinting allows.

For his monoprints, Billiter begins with his ornate illustrations and uses gestural watercolor strokes applied to the silkscreen to bring a fluidity and whimsy

that counters the illustrations’ rigidity. Walls of Cincinnati combines the expertise and craftsmanship of Billiter Studio and frameshop to celebrate our city’s façades on your walls at home.

James would like to thank his parents for their many inspiring Downtown trips during his childhood, his lovely wife for her support, Aaron Kent — his teacher and printer at DIY Printing — for empowering him with printmaking, and everyone at frameshop for their support and this great opportunity to exhibit this new work.
