I n response to evolving community need s , this architectural project envisions a mu lt ifunctional space designed for both secu ri ty a nd engagement. A tall corridor serves as a s ecure and w elcoming entrance, guidi n g v isitors to community spaces seamles s ly. A ddressing the challenge of sound pollu t i o n fr o m a nearby railroad, the natatorium i s po s itioned along a large glass curtain wa ll , with an ivy chain wall acting as a nat u ra l so u nd buffer. A parking garage on the Wes t side of the lot ensures convenient backst reet e nt ry and loading. Within the facility, spa s , lo cker rooms, gym, and yoga rooms crea t e a holistic w ell- being space. C onnecting t h e co mmunity spaces and offices, a green ro o f e nh ances visual appeal and fosters un i ty. Casa Porteira is a single- family residen c e fo r the gatekeeper of an art museum in Port o, Po rtugal. Seamlessly integrating w ith t h e m useum’s materiality and the surroundi n g ga rden landscape, the design explores t h e m useum’s concept of overlapping plan es , crafting its ow n distinct identity throu g h spli t corridors and balconies. C omplemen t ed by rainwater collection and solar pane li n g in Porto’s Mediterranean climate, t h e r e sidence utilizes passive strategies of s o l ar he ating and cross ventilation. The envel o p e sy stems prioritize energy efficiency w it h lo w u-values, preventing thermal bridg in g a nd ensuring a sustainable and comforta b l e liv ing space. This residence not o n l y fun ctions as a home but also stands as a architectural art, harmonizing cultu re, inn ovation, and environmental conscio u s in the heart of Portu g a l .

These cores ingeniou s l y ho u se bathrooms, closets, and mechan ic a l sy s tems, catering to the needs of t h e r e c tangular fuselage dedicated to leis u re a nd relaxation. A connecting corr i d o r se amlessly links the private quarters to t h e co mmunal gathering sector, offering sc en ic v ie w s of a water- filled valley. Along s i d e this corridor, spaces for food preparat i o n a nd relaxation are strategically position ed , e ns uring a harmonious blend of functionali ty and serenity in this mountain retrea t .
