James Burleson has spent more than thirty years building a career that combines finance, entrepreneurship, and service. His professional life has been marked by creating businesses, managing investments, and supporting ventures that reflect both innovation and long-term vision. At the same time, he has consistently balanced his career with a strong dedication to philanthropy and civic involvement, showing that his commitment to service is as central as his professional accomplishments. His introduction to finance came at a young age. At just 24, James became one of the youngest seat holders and market makers on the Pacific Stock Exchange. His ability to lead was recognized early, and he was chosen as the youngest Chair of the Nominating Committee for the Board of Governors. These milestones distinguished him in an industry known for its competitiveness. Over the years, he advanced into senior roles at firms such as Letco LMM, Joseph D. Heard Jr. Inc., Premier Trading Group, and Charles Schwab. While serving as Partner and Lead Market Maker at Letco, he helped the firm grow until its sale to Toronto Dominion Bank in 2002. His deep understanding of derivatives and trading strategies became a defining strength and the basis for his later work. Entrepreneurship became a natural extension of his career. In 2004, he established Burleson + Company, an independent advisory firm that grew to oversee nearly $800 million in assets under management. The firm set itself apart by emphasizing long-term wealth planning, blending traditional investment approaches with strategies focused on aligning financial goals with personal priorities. James Burleson later expanded his work through Northern Peak Consulting, where he advised individuals and businesses on strategy and sustainable growth. His interest in innovation also led to the creation of BCo Venture Fund I, which invested in early-stage companies, including Pathwater, a bottled water brand known for its environmentally conscious approach.
