Concrete Lawn: an evolution of swamp to lake to concrete and trees. Overtime the form has changed according to new needs and space limitations. However, the site remains a place for gathering, even as the amount of natural space has been reduced.

SECTION
Inspired by origami folds, the frame borrows the lines of each crease and supports the circular shape of the paper, forming a hybrid of frame and membrane .

T h e l a n d f o r m i s i n s p i r e d by t e r r a c e s , c u r v i n g a r o u n d angular blocks to create a disjunction effect. The terraces form a rough exterior surface, and smooth interior surfaces form walls of the hollow spaces under each level, creating two inhabitable spaces.

Grafting is inspired by nature , a frame element growing through volumes, penetrating and creating void, making an organic and volatile structure, and evoking violence and tension.

WEEK SEVEN
“Here she comes!� I am pushed around, in the flurry of excitement that comes with her arrival. Lights flash, intensifying her goddess -like aura. The atmosphere here is infectious as we chant her name in unison, despite having nothing in common but a love for her music .
The bright colours are blinding, creating a pulsing illusion that blurs out our distance . In this moment every one of us can connect with the brightest star. But I know, that soon she too may be forgotten, and the crowds will all dissipate , like a drop of water in the ocean, as we return to our own lives.

ORIGINAL
The superimposition forms a pattern of circular shapes representing the clusters of people in the existing site . With the introduction of a more amorphous form in the centre , contrasting the modular patterns in the circles, people are drawn towards the centre to engage with each other, beyond the social boundaries of the site.
WEEK NINE
PARTIAL SECTION The properties of concrete make it highly suitable for monumental structures, creating stark contrasts between light and darkness. In addition, the formwork can be designed to create a tactile quality. Here , fallen leaves evoke a sense of a barren natural landscape and enhance the melancholia of cool concrete .

WEEK TEN
The concept is the search for a solution, through the meeting of the minds. The maze is a confusing environment which disrupts the order and comfort that is present in the existing site . The site is underground, surrounded by the exposed cut rock, creating a foreign setting for unexpected, spontaneous meeting to occur, facilitated by the many twists and turns in the maze . The result is an exciting and unfamiliar experience that enables greater unintentional meeting. In the centre is the final destination, a circular terrace amphitheatre brightly illuminated by a skylight.

The experience in the maze is mostly dark but the skylights allow light to stream in, creating a powerful visual effect which helps to guide people in the maze .
