Brand Story Chaukaya is a garment and accessory label by Cynthia Kewei that produces original, narrative-driven casual and fun lifestyle clothing with a strong connection to her island home province of Manus, Papua New Guinea.

The cheeky, loud and persistent Chauka Bird (which appears on the Provincial Flag and emblem) has a strong persona instilled in the brand mission to create refreshing, entertaining designs for ladies, men, and the youth of today. Chauka Ya is not just about getting people’s attention but its about creating that persona in the label and wearing it loud and proud.

As a label, Chauka Ya wants our customers attention, but in the garments and fashion business you’re constantly competing with others to get or find that next look. Chauka Ya, is not playing by the same rules, just like our Chauka Bird, we own our look and feel, and we know how to get our buyers attention. We take traditionally significant items and objects From Manus culture and everyday life and we give them a fun and entertaining twist.
