As I write, I am pleased to say that some industries are now seeing positive steps forward following the global chip shortage which, for the automotive market, caused supply chain challenges and forced many brands to slow production. The situation is still challenging but it is improving, and we are hopeful that production levels will return to normal by 2022. We’ve certainly faced challenging times this year
but I’m so proud of the team at Jacksons who’ve pulled together to ensure our products and services continue to exceed customer expectations. Investing in our team remains one of our top priorities and I’m delighted to welcome Steve Shaw, new Head of Aftersales and Kevin Sherlock, our new General Sales Manager to Jacksons Jersey. I’m sure they’ll agree that the car industry is an exciting business to be in and we look forward to inspiring the next generation of technicians and customer service staff to pursue a career with us

Electric, efficient and emotionally appealing the Audi Q4 e-tron and Q4 Sportback e-tron are versatile allrounders for everyday use. The Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron are the first compact electric SUVs from the brand with the Four Rings. Both impress with a new spacious dimension in the interior and pioneering solutions when it comes to operation, display, and assist systems. The augmented reality head-up display connects the vir tual and the real worlds in a totally new way. The range comprises three drive versions, spearheaded by a quattro model.
Audi Q4 electric
Audi’s next step: the exterior design With the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron, Audi is taking the next step in the design language of its electric models. The two compact SUVs bring into series production the body line that the Audi Q4 concept and Audi Q4 Spor tback e-tron concept show cars demonstrated at the beginning of 2019. This body line impresses thanks to the striking propor tions – shor t front overhangs, large wheels, and powerfully toned muscles. All lines are drawn with the greatest precision, and the surface treatment is clear and pared back. In the Audi Q4 Spor tback e-tron, the especially low coupé-style roofline ends in an expressively designed rear where the spoiler sits deep on the two-par t window.
The brand’s progressive design is typically Audi, as functional as it is aerodynamic: The Q4 e-tron achieves a drag coefficient of 0.28, and the Spor tback gets to an even lower figure, with a drag coefficient of 0.26. On request, both of these compact electric SUVs can be driven off the assembly line with Matrix LED headlights – they always illuminate the road as brightly as possible without blinding other road users. The digital light signatures are a world first: The driver can switch between four signatures in the MMI touch operating system. At the rear, a light strip links the taillight units to each other. A choice of eight colours is available for the paint finish, including the new metallic shade aurora violet. In addition to the basic version, there are the two advanced and S line exteriors.
One vehicle for everything and everyone: everyday e-mobility for every situation Thanks to their versatility, the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron are the perfect companions in ever y situation. At 4.59 meters in length, they offer a package that gives the passengers on board new spaces and which goes beyond existing class boundaries. The available space in the interior is comparable with the full-size SUV class; there is no centre tunnel. The feeling of spaciousness is not just confined to the front seats – with the generous legroom, passengers in the rear also benefit from the advantage of the technological platform, which is designed as electric-only. When it comes to storage compar tments, the Q4 e-tron product line scores high grades with total storage space of around 25 litres.

The luggage compar tment also offers more space than is generally found in the compact class, matching that of the mid-size class. Both models can tow trailers with a weight of up to 1,000 kilograms (braked, at 12% incline), with the quattro versions even able to pull up to 1,200 kilograms. Another strength for ever yday use is the high range – the Q4 Spor tback 40 e-tron (combined electric power consumption in kWh/100 km (62.1 mi)*: 17.4 – 16.1 (NEDC), combined CO2 emissions in g/km*: 0) travels up to 534 kilometres (331.8 mi) (WLTP) on a single batter y charge. Thanks to a maximum charging capacity of 125 kW, in ideal conditions it can charge enough power for about 130 kilometres (80.8 mi) (WLTP). Using the myAudi app, the owner can activate charging at home and pre-entr y climate control from their smar tphone.
New ideas for a new era: the interior and operation The interior of the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron comes across as spacious and air y; the instrument panel is turned toward the driver. It is divided into separate areas and integrates two displays, which are design elements at the same time. The decorative trim panel on the front passenger side is available on request in an innovative technical fabric containing a propor tion of recycled materials and seat upholster y which contains large amounts of recycled polyester is available for the spor ty S line interior.
Also totally new is the steering wheel with its seamless touch surfaces, which the driver uses to control the digital instrument cluster. Infotainment and navigation are operated primarily using the central MMI touch display. Natural voice control provides the third operating interface. On request, the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron can be equipped with another innovation on board – the augmented reality head-up display. This superimposes the information provided by some of the assist systems and the navigation symbols on the real-life external world conveniently for the driver to see. This information is displayed dynamically in a large field of view, where it appears in a vir tual, floating image at a distance of roughly ten meters or more from the driver – creating a fascinating effect.
Fully digital: the Q4 e-tron is an e-mobility device The Q4 e-tron models offer a fully digital user experience. The infotainment package in the electric compact SUV is structured in three levels – from MMI through MMI plus to MMI pro. Different functions are provided depending on the configuration level, including the augmented reality head-up display and the Audi vir tual cockpit plus. For premium sound, there is a new par tner in the vehicle – the Sonos sound system which combines lifestyle, technology and design in a new dimension.
Intelligent connectivity: the suspension and the driver assist systems The high-voltage batter y of the Audi Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Spor tback e-tron lies between the axles, which ensures a low centre of gravity and a balanced distribution of weight. The control systems for the drive and suspension work closely together – driving the compact electric SUVs is safe, spor ty, and comfor table all at the same time. Audi can also supply a spor t suspension for all Q4 e-tron versions that lowers the body by 15 millimetres (standard feature in the S line). What’s more, the Audi drive select system with different driving profiles can be installed (standard feature in the Spor tback), as can progressive steering, which operates more and more directly as the steering angle increases (as standard in the quattro models). Audi drive select also features in the Spor tback with rear-wheel drive. The suspension with damper control – an option for all motor line-ups – provides for an even more versatile driving experience. Wheels ranging in diameter from 19 to 21 inches form par t of the offering, which contains several aero designs – their largely closed rim design also plays its par t in improving efficiency. The compact electric SUVs roll off the assembly line with a number of assist systems as standard. These include predictive efficiency assist, which suppor ts a forward-looking driving style that optimises the consumption of energy. The optional systems – like many other equipment features – are divided into packages. The highlight of these is the adaptive cruise assist, which assists the driver with longitudinal and lateral guidance over the entire speed range. The surround view cameras are an especially great help when driving in the city and when parking.
Sustainability in the spotlight: The Q4 e-tron arrives at the customer with a CO2-neutral footprint
Avoid, minimise, or offset unavoidable emissions, Audi has produced the Q4 e-tron and the Q4 Sportback e-tron with a neutral carbon footprint. The plant in Zwickau uses ecoelectricity, while the batter y cell suppliers are also required to use only green electricity in their production processes. Emissions that cannot be avoided at the moment are offset by climate protection projects certified by the TÜV. They meet the strict requirements of the Gold Standard Foundation.
Resource revolution Shannon Lancaster, fund analyst at Ravenscroft Over the past century, the earth’s population has grown at an alarming rate. It is predicted that by 2045 there will be nine billion of us on this planet, that is nearly two billion more people demanding food, water, energy and materials. As a result of this rapid population growth, the number of middle class in developing countries will rise, pushing up incomes and the demand for resources like cars and electronics. This brings with it an acceleration of urbanisation, as hundreds of millions of people move from rural areas to cities, placing increasing demands on energy production and waste handling. The planet is already depleting its natural resources - how will it cope under the strain of so many additional people?
Every last drop While water scarcity has long been an issue for certain climates, an increasing number of regions across the globe are now exceeding reserve limits and threatening human health, local development and global economic growth. Meeting growing global demands for water supply has fast become one of the biggest challenges for humankind. If the current levels of water consumption and pollution are not altered, demand for water may exceed supply by 40% by 2030. This means almost half of the world’s population will suffer severe water stress.
Feed the world Water is just one of the many examples that illustrate how resource scarcity is driving long-term changes. Whether we can grow enough food sustainably for an expanding world population also presents an urgent challenge, and this is amplified by these new population projections. Where will food for an additional two billion people come from when we are barely keeping up with seven billion? Alongside pressure to scale up production, manufacturers across industries will be pressed to scale down emissions, pollution and excess waste created in the process.
Clean energy A significant amount of projected population growth will come from developing countries, and as their wealth increases so will the demand for energy resources. Emissions from emerging markets are growing rapidly and are contributing to environmental problems, such as climate change and poor air quality. The good news is that clean energy today is cheaper than it has ever been. In some countries, clean energy sources are comparable to natural gas and coal in terms of unit costs and rely less on government subsidies each year. In addition to this, electric mobility is expanding at a rapid pace. In 2020, sales of electric vehicles grew 43% to more than three million. China remains the world’s largest electric vehicle market for both supply and demand – partly driven by a need to combat chronic air pollution – with more than double the number sold in the US. Despite the headlines and media attention that Tesla attracts, Chinese carmakers are responsible for nearly half of all electric vehicle production. Considering the policies and regulations being introduced globally targeting lower emissions, it is likely electric vehicles continue to be widely adopted.
From crisis to opportunity As we continue to deplete our stock of natural resources, the focus has shifted to finding substitute materials and using resources more productively and while looking for solutions we can identify attractive investment opportunities. Investors can gain exposure to areas that could experience rapid and major growth in the near future as they tackle longer-term challenges inherent in population growth, resource scarcity, and energy efficiency.

The all-new BMW 4 Series Convertible Captivating spor ting prowess is the defining feature of the new BMW 4 Series range, and it can now also be experienced in an open-top car. With its standalone design, brand new softtop construction, diverse line-up of engines, advanced chassis technology, model-specific stiffening elements for the body structure and innovative equipment features, the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible packages the brand’s hallmark driving pleasure in a par ticularly exclusive form. The open-top four-seater follows the lead of the new BMW 4 Series Coupé with an extremely spor ty profile that is notably sharper than its predecessor’s. In addition, its design, distinct vehicle concept and superior driving dynamics differentiate it more clearly than ever from the new BMW 3 Series Sedan, which has provided the technological blueprint for the new BMW 4 Series range.
With its blend of spor ting driving pleasure and open-air thrills, the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible builds on a long-standing tradition in this model class that began 35 years ago with the launch of the first ever BMW 3 Series Conver tible. The sixth model generation’s dynamic profile is epitomised by a new arrival to the model range: the BMW M440i xDrive Conver tible. As well as the 275 kW/374 hp six-cylinder in-line petrol engine powering the flagship model, there is also a choice of two four-cylinder petrol units and a four-cylinder diesel. Two straight-six diesel engines are also set to join the engine line-up.
Exterior design: distinctive, sporty and elegant. With its dynamically stretched propor tions, the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible clearly announces its class-leading spor ting prowess and the stylish elegance of an open-top fourseater built for exclusive driving pleasure. At the same time, the brand’s new design language has produced a ver y striking interpretation of the low-slung silhouette established as a signature feature of premium midsize BMW conver tibles.
The newcomer’s elegant yet powerful presence also stems from its larger exterior dimensions. At 4,768 millimetres, it is 128 mm longer than its predecessor, while width has increased by 27 mm to 1,852 mm and its wheelbase by 41 mm to 2,851 mm. Vehicle height is 1,384 mm with the roof closed. Increased track widths accentuate the car’s muscular stature while also enhancing its spor ty handling qualities.
Front end with expressive, tradition-rich styling highlights. Alongside the car’s propor tions, it is the front end of the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible that truly highlights its standalone character and distinguishes it most clearly from the new BMW 3 Series Sedan. The defining element is its large, ver tically emphasised BMW kidney grille, which – as on the new BMW 4 Series Coupé – takes pride of place at the centre of the front end. The grille has a pronounced forward slant and employs air intakes which indicate the high cooling air requirement of the powerful engine behind the scenes.
The slim headlights of the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible cut deep into the front wheel arches. Full-LED headlights are fitted as standard. There is also the option of Adaptive LED Headlights with BMW Laserlight, whose features include the adaptive cornering function with variable road illumination optimised for urban and motorway driving. At speeds above 37 mph, BMW Laserlight increases high-beam range to a maximum 550 metres and follows the course of the road dynamically.
Elegant silhouette, distinctive roofline, striking rear. Its dynamically stretched side profile helps to give the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible a lowto-the-road look that exudes spor ting flair, while the powerfully contoured surfaces intensify the car’s athletic character. The far-back positioning of the seats becomes par ticularly apparent when the roof is open
and helps to create the sor t of open-top driving experience – with the sun on your face and wind in your hair – for which BMW conver tibles are renowned. When closed, the softtop roof gracefully arches over the passenger cell. The precise lines and three-dimensionally sculpted surfaces of the rear wheel arches combine to form powerful shoulders that give the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible a broad-set, muscular appearance, par ticularly with the roof down. This impression is reinforced by the slim rear light units extending well into the flanks. The lights are stylishly darkened, with their rear bars illuminating uniformly to reproduce the L shape familiar from other BMW models.
Comfort, harmonious design and minimised weight blended into one. The innovative panel bow softtop on the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible marries the strengths of a retractable hardtop and the puristic appeal of a fabric roof, thereby combining the best of both worlds. It comprises large panel bow elements with a flush-fitting glass rear window, several layers of insulation and a fabric cover available in Black as standard and Anthracite Silver effect as an option. The acoustic and thermal comfor t of the panel bow softtop roof are far superior to a conventional softtop’s. At the same time, it is 40 per cent lighter than the outgoing model’s retractable hardtop. The roof is powered by an electric motor that enables it to open or close within 18 seconds at the push of a button, including while on the move at speeds up to 50 km/h (31 mph). The variable softtop compar tment allows luggage capacity to be increased from 300 to 385 litres when the roof is closed.
Interior: four seats immersed in a premium ambience of sporting elegance. The blend of spor tiness and elegance that characterises the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible is carried through into the design of its cabin. The driver-centric cockpit design is fur ther enhanced by the large screen grouping formed by the instrument cluster and Control Display. The ergonomically optimised arrangement of the controls also reveals the character of a car built for the enjoyment of intense driving pleasure – as do standard features including spor ts seats in the front with automatically extending and retracting belt feeders, Vernasca leather trim, seat heating and a leather spor ts steering wheel, plus the clear individual-seat design of the two seats in the rear. The high-set centre console combines with the harmoniously coordinated structuring of the instrument panel, door panel trim and shoulder areas in the rear to create an enveloping environment. The shoulder line framed by a continuous trim strip increases this sensation, par ticularly when driving with the roof down.
Four- and six-cylinder engines with BMW TwinPower Turbo and mild hybrid technology for greater dynamism and efficiency. Mild hybrid technology is on hand in the new BMW M440i xDrive Conver tible and all diesel model variants to boost both dynamism and efficiency. Fitting a powerful 48V star ter-generator and a second batter y allows far more braking energy to be regenerated and stored. This energy is used for supplying the electrical system, lightening the combustion engine’s workload and increasing power. The star ter-generator produces an electric boost effect that instantly puts an additional 8 kW/11 hp on tap for over taking or even more dynamic getaways off the line. The 275 kW/374 hp straight-six engine under the bonnet of the flagship model is joined in the range by two four-cylinder petrol units, generating an output of 135 kW/184 hp in the new BMW 420i Conver tible.
A 140 kW/190 hp four-cylinder diesel engine powers the new BMW 420d Conver tible. This par ticular unit, like the six-cylinder in-line engine in the new BMW 430d Conver tible now features BMW TwinPower Turbo technology with two-stage turbocharging. Two turbochargers of different sizes also ensure exceptionally rapid power deliver y in the new BMW M440d xDrive Conver tible.
Eight-speed Steptronic transmission as standard for all model variants, with the option of shift paddles and new Sprint function. This is the first time that all model variants in the BMW 4 Series Conver tible range have been fitted with an eight-speed Steptronic transmission as standard. The latest version of the automatic transmission relays the drive torque from the engine with optimised shift characteristics and greater efficiency. The eight-speed Steptronic Spor t transmission fitted as standard in the BMW M cars and M Spor t model and available as an option for all other variants offers even sharper shift dynamics, comes with shift paddles on the steering wheel and introduces the new Sprint function. This prompts the power train and shift characteristics to maximise dynamic performance when putting in a sudden burst of speed or over taking.
Improved body rigidity, stiff chassis tuning. The body’s extremely rigid structure is stiffened fur ther still by the addition of features such as at the bottom of the front end, and side skir ts with extremely hightorsional rigidity. As a result, the static torsional rigidity of the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible is four per cent higher overall than its predecessor’s. An intelligent mix of materials ser ves to optimise both weight and crash safety. The car’s low centre of gravity, improved aerodynamic proper ties and model-specific tweaks to the chassis geometr y, mounting and set-up result in even sharper handling agility and precision. The standard and M Spor t suspension each incorporate specially tuned lift- related dampers. Customers can also opt for adaptive M suspension with electronically controlled dampers. Variable spor t steering is included with the two optional suspension variants. The new BMW 4 Series Conver tible rides as standard on 17-inch light-alloy wheels. The optional M Spor t brakes are available with a choice of blue or red brake callipers. The standard equipment roster for the two flagship models includes 18-inch M light-alloy wheels and an M Spor t differential with electronically controlled, fully variable locking function in the rear differential. This item is also available as an option for the new BMW 430i Conver tible in conjunction with M Spor t suspension or adaptive M suspension. The M Spor t model offered for the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible as an alternative to standard specification stands out with its extremely large front air intakes, strikingly sculpted rear apron, M Spor t suspension, 18-inch M light-alloy wheels, spor t seats upholstered in M-specific Vernasca leather trim, knee pads on the centre console and other specially designed interior features. Its specification can be fur ther upgraded by opting for the M Spor t package Pro, which adds highlights such as 19-inch M light-alloy wheels, a spor ty engine soundtrack in the cabin and a hi-fi speaker system. BMW M models can be identified by their exterior accents in Cerium Grey. Both they and the M Spor t model are also available with an M Carbon exterior package. In addition, customers will also be able to order an extensive selection of M Performance Par ts from the launch of the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible.
Model-specific options: wind deflector and neck warmers. A wealth of top-quality optional extras can be added to fur ther enhance both the car’s comfor t and individual sense of style, and the pleasure of driving with the roof down. The optional wind deflector carefully directs the flow of air through the cabin. It can be easily removed, even with the roof closed, placed in the ideally designed bag supplied with it and safely stowed behind the folding rear backrest. The neck warmers integrated into the front head restraints increase the sense of comfor t when driving in low outside temperatures. Extended BMW Individual Merino leather trim and BMW Individual full leather trim will be made available at a later date as an alternative to the standard Vernasca leather trim. Electrically adjustable spor ts seats come as standard, while optional climate seats are also now available for the first time. Other options include BMW Individual interior trim strips of par ticularly fine quality, an instrument panel in Sensatec and a leather-covered BMW Individual instrument panel. Three-zone automatic climate control and a storage package are both included as standard on the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible, while an auxiliar y heating system, ambient lighting with Welcome Light Carpet and a trailer coupling that extends and retracts electrically are some of the features that can be specified as options.
Wide range of driver assistance systems. A far wider selection of driver assistance systems compared to the preceding generation of the BMW 4 Series Conver tible ser ves to boost comfor t on long journeys and increase safety in situations where the driver does not have a clear view. Park Distance Control with sensors at the front and rear, front collision warning with brake inter vention, Lane Depar ture Warning including lane return with steering assistance, and the Speed Limit Info system are all now fitted as standard. The optional Driving Assistant Professional adds a number of features, including the Steering and Lane Control Assistant with the new Active Navigation function, which enables it to use navigation data to detect any necessar y lane changes. In conjunction with BMW Live Cockpit Professional, 3D visualisation of the surrounding area presents both the traffic situation and the possible courses of action offered by activated driver assistance systems as a graphic in the centre of the fully digital instrument cluster. The latest generation of the BMW Head-Up Display uses a projection area that is now 70 per cent larger to show driving-related information in the driver’s field of vision. The Parking Assistant also found on the options list now includes the Reversing Assistant.
New digital services: BMW Maps, BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant, smartphone integration, Remote Software Upgrade. The driver and passengers in the new BMW 4 Series Conver tible will benefit from the wealth of possibilities brought by the introduction of BMW Operating System 7. Display content can be configured individually, while the Control Display’s touchscreen, the proven iDrive Controller, the multifunction buttons on the steering wheel and voice control provide intuitive multimodal interaction between driver and vehicle, depending on the situation.
The standard-fitted BMW Live Cockpit Plus comprises the iDrive operating system with 8.8inch Control Display and a Touch Controller, a black panel instrument cluster centred around a 5.1-inch colour display, plus a multimedia and navigation system, two USB por ts for data transfer and a WiFi interface. A built-in SIM card with 4G LTE connectivity and the likewise standard Connected Package Professional enable use of the BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant and other digital ser vices, including BMW TeleSer vices, Intelligent Emergency Call, Real Time Traffic Information with hazard warning, and the Remote Ser vices and Concierge Ser vices. The optional BMW Live Cockpit Professional, meanwhile, features a fully digital screen grouping comprising a digital instrument cluster (with a screen diagonal of 12.3 inches) behind the steering wheel and a 10.25-inch Control Display. The cockpit’s fully digital instrument display provides enough room to accommodate an excerpt from the navigation map, status indicators for the driver assistance systems or 3D visualisation of the surrounding area.
Besides calculating routes and arrival times with remarkable speed and precision and updating real-time traffic data at frequent inter vals, the cloud-based navigation system BMW Maps also lets drivers enter any word when searching for the journey’s destination. Thanks to the optimised smar tphone integration feature, also included as standard, the vehicle’s operating system now suppor ts Android Auto in addition to Apple CarPlay. The Remote Software Upgrade feature enables improved vehicle functions and additional digital ser vices to be impor ted into the car over the air.

Land Rover has launched the powerful Defender V8 as part of a range of enhancements to its unstoppable and award-winning 4x4 family.
The powerful new models build on decades of Land Rover V8 heritage – spanning the original Stage I V8 of the Seventies, Nor th American Specification models of the Nineties and powerful Defender Works V8 – as the characterful engine joins the latest range of efficient Ingenium petrol, diesel and advanced Plug-in Hybrid Land Rover powertrains. The V8 petrol engine isn’t the only introduction. There’s also a new XS Edition, fresh exterior design packs that provide greater personalisation potential and an optional larger 11.4-inch Pivi Pro infotainment touchscreen. The potent new V8 supercharged engine is available in both 90 and 110 body designs and delivers elevated performance and driver engagement without compromising Defender’s unstoppable capability. With unique suspension and transmission tuning, including bespoke spring and damper rates and a new Electronic Active Rear Differential, it delivers more agile and engaging handling with heightened body control – all accompanied by a characteristic V8 soundtrack. Power comes from Land Rover’s 5.0-litre V8 supercharged petrol engine, which produces 525PS, 625Nm of torque and drives through an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Defender V8 90 accelerates from 0-60mph in just 4.9 seconds (0-100km/h in 5.2 seconds) with a top speed of 149mph (240km/h) and delivers fuel consumption of up to 19.5mpg (14.5l/100km) with CO2 emissions from 327g/km**. Exceptional off-road capability is a Defender hallmark and the V8 adds a new layer of driver appeal, with the introduction of a new Dynamic program within the Terrain Response system
– only available on V8-powered Defenders. It helps drivers to exploit the more dynamic character and handling balance of the 525PS model on tarmac and loose surfaces. Engineered to be the fastest and most engaging production Defender ever, it delivers unrivalled agility and driver appeal. Larger-diameter and solid anti-roll bars help reduce body roll in extreme cornering, while the unique Electronic Active Rear Differential introduces a Yaw Controller that allows fine control of the Defender V8’s cornering attitude as it reaches and exceeds the limit of grip. Careful calibration of the new Dynamic program in Terrain Response 2, gives Defender V8 a more agile, playful and responsive character. In this setting, a sharper throttle response and bespoke tuning for the Continuously Variable Damping combine with the stiffer suspension bushes for immediate steering responses. Working in harmony with the Torque Vectoring by Braking technology, Traction Control Systems and new Yaw Controller, the Defender V8 is faster, more engaging and more controllable than ever. Instantly recognisable, the Defender V8 features a number of unique exterior enhancements; bespoke exterior badging, quad exhausts with distinctive tailpipes and unique 22-inch alloy wheels with a Satin Dark Grey finish combine to set the most powerful model in the line-up apart. The Defender V8 is further identified by its Xenon Blue brake calipers and 20-inch brake discs. Careful acoustic tuning of Defender V8’s induction and exhaust systems provides a purposeful and authentic sound. Calibrated to suit every driving situation, this evocative soundtrack can be enhanced by selecting Dynamic program in the Terrain Response system. Inside, Defender V8 features seats trimmed in unique Ebony Windsor Leather with Miko Suedecloth and Robustec accents, each finished with a unique Ebony tag, while the Defender’s exposed Cross Car Beam has a special Satin Black finish. Defender V8 Carpathian Edition The exclusive new Defender V8 Carpathian Edition is the ultimate expression of performance, durability and design, and represents the very pinnacle of the Defender range. Finished exclusively in Carpathian Grey, it is distinguished by a Narvik Black contrast roof, bonnet and, for the first time on New Defender, taildoor. Additional visual highlights include bespoke V8 Carpathian Edition badging finishes, Satin Black towing eyes and distinctive Xenon Blue brake calipers. The unique exterior is finished with Land Rover’s Satin Protective Film. The recyclable PU-based wrap is applied to external bodywork giving the 4x4 a contemporary semi-matte finish that also protects against everything from car park scratches to off-road bramble rash. Inside, the Defender V8 Carpathian Edition features the same upgrades as the V8, with seats finished in Miko Suedecloth and Robustec accents, an Alcantara-wrapped steering wheel and illuminated treadplates.
Defender XS Edition The new XS Edition replaces the hugely successful First Edition. Positioned above the SE models, it features a unique exterior and interior treatment and is available in both 90 and 110 body designs. Externally, the XS Edition is identified by its bespoke body-coloured lower cladding and lower wheel arches, and distinctive 20-inch, contrast diamond-turned alloy wheels finished in Satin Grey. A choice of four exterior colour options is available: Silicon Silver, Hakuba Silver, Gondwana Stone and Santorini Black. Inside, the XS Edition’s 12-way, heated and electric memory seats are finished in Grained Leather, while the Cross Car Beam has a Light Grey powder coat brushed finish. Illuminated metal treadplates complete the interior. Comprehensive standard specification includes Electronic Air Suspension, Adaptive Dynamics and Configurable Terrain Response. In addition, the XS Edition benefits from Matrix LED headlights with signature DRL, ClearSight Rear View mirror technology and the state-of-the-art Pivi Pro infotainment system with 10-speaker Meridian sound system. The Porsche GT 4X4 Turbo Cayenne
N e w s p o r t i n g h e ro f ro m Po r s c h e : t h e C aye n n e Tu r b o GT Porsche rounds off the Cayenne model range with a spor ting hero: consistently set up for maximum performance and handling, the new Cayenne Turbo GT combines outstanding driving dynamics with a high degree of ever yday usability. With even spor tier lines and available exclusively as a four-seater Coupé, the Cayenne Turbo GT comes with all available chassis systems fitted as standard and performance tyres developed specially for this model. The power train and chassis also have a unique set-up specifically tuned for the Cayenne Turbo GT. The result is a harmonious overall concept with superb racetrack capability. This has been proven by Porsche test driver Lars Kern, who lapped the 20.832 km Nürburgring Nordschleife with the Cayenne Turbo GT in a time of 7:38.9 minutes, setting a new official SUV record. Compared to the Cayenne Turbo Coupé, the Turbo GT rides up to 17 millimetres lower. Based on this, both the passive chassis components and
active control systems have been re-engineered and optimised for handling and performance. They also feature specific calibration to guarantee perfect interaction between them. As an example, the rigidity of the three-chamber air suspension has been increased by up to 15 per cent, and the damper characteristics of the Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM) as well as the application of the Power Steering Plus and rear-axle steering have also been adapted. The Porsche Dynamic Chassis Control (PDCC) active roll stabilisation system now operates with performance-oriented control software. The result is even better roll stability and roadholding, as well as more precise turnin behaviour at higher cornering speeds. In line with this, the Porsche Torque Vectoring system allows higher torque bias ratios. The comprehensively optimised front axle also improves handling. Compared to the Turbo Coupé, its front wheels are an inch wider and negative camber has been increased by 0.45 degrees to give the new 22-inch Pirelli P Zero
Corsa performance tyres, specially developed for the Turbo GT, a larger contact patch. Braking duties are performed by the standardfit Porsche Ceramic Composite Brake (PCCB) system. Quicker-shifting Tiptronic S and titanium sports exhaust system The Cayenne Turbo GT’s biturbo engine is currently Porsche’s most powerful eightcylinder unit. The most extensive upgrades were carried out in the areas of the crankshaft drive, turbocharger, direct fuel injection, induction system and intercooler. The V8 of the Turbo GT differs from that of the Turbo Coupé in fundamental elements such as its crankshaft, connecting rods, pistons, timing chain drive and torsional vibration dampers. Given the increase in power these components have been designed for higher peak loads and improved driving dynamics. The faster-shifting eight-speed Tiptronic S and the Porsche Traction Management (PTM) system have also been modified. There is also additional water cooling for the transfer case. The standard spor ts exhaust system, with its central tailpipes, is unique to the Cayenne Turbo GT. From the middle of the vehicle, the exhaust system, including the rear silencer, is made from lightweight and par ticularly heatresistant titanium. An additional weight saving is achieved through the omission of the centre silencer. Sporty equipment: lots of carbon on the exterior, lots of Alcantara in the interior Optionally available with paintwork in the new Arctic Grey colour, the Cayenne Turbo GT underlines its exceptional athleticism through the outstanding features of its progressive design. These include a GT-specific front apron with striking spoiler lip and enlarged side cooling air intakes, which create a unique front view. A contoured carbon roof and black wheel arch extensions, together with 22-inch GT Design wheels in Neodyme, dominate its side view.
The carbon side plates fitted lengthwise to the roof spoiler are GT-specific, as is the adaptively extendable rear spoiler’s lip, which is 25 mm larger than that fitted to the Turbo. This increases downforce at the car’s top speed by up to 40 kilograms. The rear view is rounded off by a striking diffuser panel made of carbon. Debut in the Turbo GT: new infotainment system for the Cayenne The spor ty character of the Cayenne Turbo GT is highlighted by the high-quality standard equipment and extended Alcantara features of its interior. Eight-way spor t seats in the front and a spor t rear seat system with two seats are standard. They each come GT-specific with perforated seat centre panels in Alcantara, contrast accents in Neodyme or Arctic Grey and ‘turbo GT’ lettering on their headrests. As is expected on Porsche’s spor ts cars, the multifunction spor ts steering wheel features a yellow 12 o’clock marking. Depending on the specified trim, select accent strips are finished in matt Black. With the Turbo GT, the next-generation Porsche Communication Management (PCM) system is launched onto the market with improved performance, a new user interface and new operating logic in the Cayenne. As before, PCM 6.0 is fully compatible with Apple CarPlay but now also allows for in-depth integration of Apple Music and Apple Podcasts. In addition, the infotainment system now also includes Android Auto, which means that all popular smar tphones can now be integrated. The Cayenne Turbo GT is available to order now.

Jacksons drive to give something back Our local charities have been hit hard since the outbreak of COVID-19, so we’re delighted that as a team we have been able to do so much this year to help support our Jersey and Guernsey communities. It was fantastic to see around 200 local runners back on the road again racing to help islanders affected by brain injuries. In June the third Headway Jacksons 10k, which started and finished at Les Quennevais cycle track, raised a fantastic £5,500 for the charity which suffered devastating losses due to COVID 19. The event sponsored by Jacksons saw a number of PB’s smashed in both the 10k and 3k kids fun run and all those taking part went home with a performance tee shirt and bespoke medal. Headway Jersey has over 150 survivors of brain injury registered with them as members and up to 70 who access their services on a weekly basis and the money raised will help them continue to provide essential services including a range of physical and cognitive rehabilitation programmes. This summer we were also sponsors of the new Pink Promenade Sunset Walk in aid of ABC Breast Cancer Support Jersey.
The weather wasn’t very summer-like on the evening itself, but the rain and wind didn’t dampen the spirits of the walkers who set off along St Aubin’s Bay, dressed in pink and together raising an amazing £35,000 for the charity. The money will help support islanders going through, or recovering from breast cancer treatment and raise awareness of the importance of regular self-checks as early detection can save lives. We’re really helping to drive that message home for the charity by sponsoring some on-the-road advertising on the Liberty bus fleet and on Jersey Post vans. Meanwhile an exciting new fixture on Jersey’s cycling calendar raised over £8,500 for islanders affected by cancer in Jersey and proved such a success that the wheels are in motion for a return next year. Jacksons sponsored the inaugural Mac100, a 100k cycling challenge which saw around 200 islanders pedalling their way around the island on Sunday 22nd August, in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support Jersey. Cyclists had the option of using any bike they liked, as long as it wasn’t a fixed wheel, track bike or monocycle to cycle the tough route which involved 1,000m of climbing! The fastest finishers crossed the line in three and a half hours, cycling at an impressive average speed of 28.5km per hour.
The Mac100 team also ran a raffle at the event to raise additional funds, with the winner taking home the great prize of one of our luxury cars for the weekend along with an overnight stay at The Atlantic Hotel! The Festival at KGV in July was an oppor tunity for the youngsters to use the skills they had been mastering on the Primary School Cricket Programme – delivered with Jacksons, a programme that taught them batting, bowling and fielding skills. The programme ran throughout the Spring and Summer terms across all primaries in the Bailiwick, including Alderney with coaches teaching hundreds of children and focusing on fundamental movement areas including catching, agility, throwing and striking. Our suppor t helped ensure the Programme had full time coaches kitted out and available to deliver fantastic sessions and also funded new school kit bags with cones, bats, balls and stumps as well as Owlzat, the new Guernsey Cricket mascot who swooped
around the Festival enter taining all. For some children, the Schools’ Kwik Cricket Festival was the first time they had played competitive cricket and all they all went home with a memento of the day, a cap from us to keep the sun out their eyes the next time they are on the pitch! As the cricket season ends, we’re delighted to have scored official Lead Sponsor for St Peter FC Academy in Jersey for the next three years. The Jacksons site neighbours the St Peter FC ground and we’ve had a great association with the club for a number of years. There are some very talented Academy players emerging across all age levels from 5 years to 18 and we look forward to seeing how they all progress on the pitch as we star t a new season and to celebrating their success!
