I AM A PATRIOT. I AM A WINNER. THIS IS MY CREED.
Prep and winning will be synonymous terms because of my efforts. Winning will not be automatic; neither will I win simply by wanting to win.
Wanting to win is not enough. I, the individual Patriot, will become a winner and will help to make my school a winner. I realize that any worthwhile endeavor requires personal commitment. A price must be paid, a price whose currency is hard work, dedication, and sacrifice unalloyed by boredom, injury, or frustration.
I will become a winner and will help to make my school a winner because I have determined in my heart to pay this price of blood, sweat, and tears, and I am now proceeding with the necessary daily installments.
I realize that, regardless of my talents, I have an important contribution to make to my team. I know that the deeper meaning of being a Patriot is in my own willingness to make personal sacrifices for the good of my team and my teammates.
I believe that, regardless of whether I am the least or the greatest athlete on my team, I have an important part to play in my team’s success. Every time I give my best effort on or off the field, in practice or in games, I make my team a better team. Every time I take it easy and do less than my best, I hurt my team and myself through both my attitude and my actions.
I realize that my team is no stronger than I—the individual athlete. Therefore, I make the following personal commitment: I will keep faith with my God, my teammates, and myself. I will pay the toll of heat, grime, sweat, fatigue, aches, and blisters so that my teammates may keep faith with me. I will expect to win, but I will not demand that winning be easy.
I am convinced that I will be a better person because of this commitment and that the world will therefore be a better world because of me.
I will not forget that even though I may sometimes lose, I will never become a loser.
I AM A WINNER IN THE TRUEST SENSE. I AM A PATRIOT.

Greetings, Prep Family!
Each year, we celebrate the beginning of our athletic calendar and support our student-athletes’ pursuit of the full spectrum of opportunities available to them at Jackson Prep. This year, we are excited to welcome fans to our stadiums, fields, and courts as we support our students and watch them compete on behalf of Jackson Prep. Athletics are an integral part of Prep’s mission, as our teams demonstrate leadership and work together to accomplish common goals.
However, these goals are not accomplished by our athletes alone. Prep’s school spirit is evident at every sporting event thanks to our cheerleaders, dance teams, marching band, drumline, and legions of supportive fans. These groups offer incredible inspiration to our student body and deserve our heartfelt gratitude for their hard work and dedication to Jackson Prep. Moreover, I want you to know how much Jackson Prep appreciates the tremendous community support for our athletic programs. Your contributions, both personal and financial, provide the foundation for the quality and success of Prep Athletics.
Because of this support, our student-athletes enjoy the best opportunities to succeed in their athletic endeavors. And succeed they do! The results on the playing fields, courts, and track demonstrate that our student-athletes are living out the words to our Patriot Creed… they are winners in the truest sense; they are Patriots!
Whether you’re an athlete, parent, student, or alum, we hope you will be a part of our tradition of excellence at Jackson Prep and support our studentathletes. Please remember to follow our athletic programs and coaches on social media. A useful list of these social media channels is provided on this page to help you stay informed about our successes.
I look forward to seeing you at various athletic contests supporting our student-athletes, teams, and coaches. We are going to have a great year!
Go Patriots!

ATHLETIC DIRECTOR ATHLETIC DIRECTOR

WILL CROSBY
ATHLETIC DIRECTOR
JACKSON PREP CLASS OF 1988
@CoachCrosbyJP

Jackson Prep has a long and outstanding history of winning athletic championships and producing athletes who play at the college level. The level of success our coaches and student-athletes achieve is not by accident. Year in and year out, our coaches and players embrace the commitment and dedication required for success and build upon the rich tradition established by the generations that came before them.
The athletic program is integral to a Prep student's well-rounded educational experience. Yes, winning is important. Winning is actually our goal every time we compete in any sport. But it is not our purpose. Our purpose is to create an experience that will help our studentathletes in their personal, physical, and spiritual growth and teach them what it means to be a good teammate.
Our coaches will challenge their studentathletes to strive to be the best they can be on and off the field. We want them to have fun, fight through adversity, risk failure, always compete, be accountable for their actions, win with humility, and lose with grace.
The Jackson Prep athletic department encourages all students, beginning as early as the 5th grade, to take full advantage of the variety of athletic offerings. For those who do, we want them to be able to look back on their time as a Jackson Prep student-athlete and say, “Because of my involvement in Jackson Prep sports, I am a better person, and I wish I could do it again.”
Sincerely,
Will Crosby Athletic Director
JACKSON PREP ATHLETICS
PHILOSOPHY. The athletic program at Jackson Prep is student-centered and an integral part of the students’ total educational experience. Athletic achievement requires sincere commitment from all athletes, parents, coaches, and administrators. The staff of the Athletic Department and the Administration strongly believe in being accessible to parents and supportive of the coaching staff, and we strive to improve communication with students and parents. For our program to be successful, it is necessary that everyone understands the focus and direction of the program.
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE ATHLETE. An athlete is often respected and admired by the student body, a range of spectators, and the children in the community. The role is filled with responsibility. Good sportsmanship is shown by:
a) remembering that you are representing yourself, your school, family, and community
b) respecting the integrity and judgment of the officials
c) living up to the standards of sportsmanship established by your coach
d) respecting your opponents
e) displaying positive actions in public at all times
RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FAN. Spectators at an athletic contest have an important role in displaying good sportsmanship. As a group, their actions can have the biggest impact on how others see the reputation of the school. Fans should:
a) compliment student-athletes in their attempts to improve and learn
b) respect both players and fans of opposing team
c) cheer good performances
d) never confront an official – before, during, or after a contest
e) never confront visiting teams, coaches, or fans - before, during, or after a contest
Violations of these rules of conduct could lead to a team’s forfeiture of a contest, the school’s placement on probation, and a fine. The fan could be denied access to future contests and fined by the MAIS. Further information on the Prep Athletic Department and its guidelines on sportsmanship, communication, discipline, and eligibility is found in the Athletic and Activities Handbook, available at the school.

Dear Jackson Prep parents, patrons, and supporters:
It’s our honor to serve as presidents of the Jackson Prep Athletic Booster Club for the 2024-2025 school year. Plans are already underway to offer exciting new opportunities and to fund significant improvements for athletics.
The Athletic Booster Club serves to enhance Prep’s athletic programs. Over the last several years, the Booster Club has been able to make some meaningful improvements. These enhancements wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of our members and sponsors. As Prep grows, our needs grow. Booster Club memberships are the largest revenue stream for our athletes, and your support allows Prep athletes to compete at

the highest level.
We hope that you will join the Athletic Booster Club for the 2024-2025 school year. Your contribution will go directly to support our athletic programs. The Jackson Prep swim team won the state championship in 2023! The MAIS has increased and extended its swim season to include a regular season, culminating with a state championship meet in late September. Swimming will also now count toward the MAIS All-Sport competition, which recognizes the most complete and successful athletic program for that year. With the leadership of Wendy Russ and Erin Cummins, we are excited about the upcoming season and increasing opportunities for our student-athletes. In 2020, MaxPreps named the Jackson Prep swim team ninth out of the top 100 high school programs with the most consecutive state championships in the country. This team has won 45 consecutive state championships from 1974 to 2018.

The 2023–2024 Jackson Prep baseball season was exciting for many different reasons. We picked up our seventh straight state championship, a new Mississippi record for baseball. The 2024 team set a school record for wins with 39. Fifteen former Prep standouts continued their collegiate careers, and two are having a great year in the minor leagues. Two of our current players have signed to play collegiate baseball in 2025, and Konnor Griffin was drafted the ninth overall pick of the Major League Draft. We are proud of all of our players!
