The mission of the Catholic Foundation is to provide a sustained source of revenue to enhance the charitable, educational, and spiritual ministries of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Jackson, Mississippi. The Foundation will seek to carry out this mission by cultivating major gifts and endowed funds and encouraging legacy giving from individuals, families, and institutions that wish to assist the Diocese in these ministries.

This year, the Foundation proudly funded 29 grants,makingameaningfulimpactacrossthediocese.
ConfirmationRetreat
The Catholic Foundation was honored to help fund the Confirmation Retreat, which welcomed more than 200 youth from parishes across the diocese. This transformativeweekendoffaith,fellowship,andformationcreatedasacredspace foryoungpeopletostepawayfromthebusynessofdailylifeandencounterChrist inadeeperandmorepersonalway.
Throughprayer,meaningfultalks,small-groupdiscussions,andsharedworship, theseyoungmenandwomenwereabletogrowintheirunderstandingoftheirfaith and strengthen their commitment as they continue their journey toward the Sacrament of Confirmation. Bringing youth together from across the diocese also fostered a powerful sense of unity, reminding them that they are part of a vibrant andlivingChurch.

Forthesecondyearinarow,theFoundationpartneredwithSt.JudeinPearltosend their youth to the Steubenville Conference. This transformative experience offers teens a powerful encounter with Jesus one that ignites their faith, deepens their prayerlife,andequipsthemtoreturntotheirparishesrenewedandeagertoshare that joy. Surrounded by other Catholic youth, participants experience inspiring speakers, uplifting music, Eucharistic adoration, and Mass, helping them form a deeper connection with Christ. Most importantly, they come to realize they are not aloneintheirfaithjourney.

DonorStories
Tammy was diagnosed with late-stage bone cancer in May of 2023. She fought the diseasewithallshehadforaboutayearbutlostthatbattleinJuneof2024.Shewasonly 67whenshedied.Wehadbeenmarriedfor37years.Abouttwoweeksbeforeshedied, Fr.SimmonsbroughtherHolyCommunionandgaveheranApostolicPardon.Thatwasa grace-filled moment unlike any I have ever experienced. That was one of the last few timessheregainedconsciousnessasshenearedtheendofherlife.
Tammybelievedthatnomatterhowlittleorhowmuchwegavetocharity,Godwould ordaintohaveitputtogooduse Shealsobelievedthatanythingbeyondwemightneed for our basic needs belongs to God, and over the years we supported a number of Catholic charities and ministries. Tammy had a special place in her heart for retired Priests and Religious, believing that after serving so faithfully for their entire lives, they shouldbethankfullysupportedintheirretirementbyallthefaithful.
Not too long before she died, Tammy decided she wanted to make a special charitablegifttotheChurch,andsheaskedmetomakesurethathappenedbeforeshe passedaway. Ultimately,wedecidedtoestablishthetrustsothatitmightsupportthat purposeoranyotherneedsasGodmightordain
I often wonder why the Lord called Tammy home ahead of me and at a relatively youngage.Atthesametime,IknowthatHeordainsallthingstofulfillHispurposeseven if those reasons are not revealed to us. I think He knew though, that I would offer every mass,everymorning&eveningprayer,everyrosary,andeveryDivineMercyChapletfor Tammy,fortherestofmylife.
